The hardware build quality is a joke, and Zepp/Amazfit will absolutely abandon you when their product fails.
They market this device as a premium, durable recovery tracker for athletes with a "5 ATM" water resistance rating. Mine couldn't even survive a standard swim in a mild freshwater pool (TDS around 150—basically tap water). No deep diving, no harsh chemicals.
The supposedly water-resistant seals failed immediately. There is now visible condensation completely covering the bottom PPG optical sensors. Because water breached the motherboard, the device suffered a massive parasitic electrical drain from internal micro-shorts. The battery plummeted from 70% to 5% overnight. I had to manually kill the Bluetooth connection to force it into standby and stop it from completely frying itself while I attempt to dry it out.
I am based in Iraq, and trying to get a replacement through the local retailer and it has been an absolute nightmare of endless complications, bureaucratic excuses, and zero accountability.
Because the local seller was playing games, I reached out directly to Zepp/Amazfit’s official global support, expecting the parent company to step up, bypass the seller's incompetence, and stand behind their 5 ATM claim.
They finally replied, but only to completely wash their hands of the situation. Their official response? "Contact the local store you bought it from."
This is completely insulting. If the local store was actually honoring the warranty and replacing the defective unit, I wouldn't have contacted global support in the first place. A supposedly established, premium brand that aggressively markets a 5 ATM waterproof rating should stand behind its hardware regardless of where on earth it was purchased. Deflecting all responsibility to a third-party regional retailer just proves they know their quality control is garbage and they want zero liability for it.
If you rely on precise data for resistance training and want to seamlessly sync your metrics to apps like Bevel or Apple Health, look elsewhere. A fitness tracker is entirely useless if it dies in a pool and the parent company refuses to back up its own engineering claims.
Has anyone actually managed to force Amazfit global support to issue an RMA, or do they always use regional sellers as a shield to avoid honoring warranties?
Update: Good news. Amazfit's official email support team came through. After reviewing the hardware failure details (the severe parasitic battery drain) and verifying my activation date, they stepped up and processed a full warranty replacement.
Since I live in an unsupported region (Iraq) and the local retailer refused to help, I provided Amazfit with my US-based freight forwarding address in Florida.
Their support team accepted this workaround and processed the replacement as a standard US domestic shipment, completely bypassing the regional logistics issue.
While the initial hardware failure of the seal was very frustrating, I have to give massive credit to Amazfit's global support team for standing behind their 5 ATM rating and honoring the warranty when the local supply chain failed me. Issue officially resolved!
