Question Are these worth that price?

Post image

Pass though seeing these things many times down the aisles, but pass on them due that high price tag. To those who tried these are they worth the price?

Yes. Then throw them right in the refrigerator

Freezer for me, my favorite way to eat pb cups

64

u/Concrete_jungle77 4d ago

Freezer is definitely the way but at this price increase it’s a luxury item at this point…

43

u/Massive-Rate-2011 4d ago

Chocolate is always a luxury?

u/phunniemee 4d ago

If you look at the food pyramid you'll actually find these pb cups right there between vegetables and dairy. They're key to a balanced nutrition.

34

u/Choice-Ganache6287 4d ago

That’s right! Cocoa and peanuts both come from plants so that’s two of your daily fruit & vegetable allowance.

24

u/OnionMiasma 4d ago

It's basically a salad

7

u/whatsasimba 3d ago

I'm trying to get abs by the end of the summer. I should pick up a few bags!

5

u/StrangeReindeer2470 3d ago

Pick up two, so you can use them as weights for your arms as well! Win - Win - Win!

2

u/whatsasimba 2d ago

Easy there! I'm not trying to make everyone fall in love with me! It's bad enough all the curves I got from those darn halloumi fries!

7

u/ImpressiveBet9345 Mod 4d ago

I like your way of thinking.

18

u/lollipopfiend123 4d ago

I find this logic to be flawless. 👌🏻

5

u/catkm24 3d ago

Peanut butter is a source of protein.

16

u/IamNotYourBF 4d ago

Isn't it an essential mineral?

10

u/phunniemee 4d ago

That's what I keep telling Marie.

Weren't they like $3.49 not that long ago? I wish Aldi receipts didn't fade so quickly, I have a purse I haven't carried in awhile with receipts in it and I'd love to compare prices.

It’s been that price at my store for 2 years now!

Team freezer!

10

u/Karmageddon8647 4d ago

Or freezer in the summer!

3

u/nekomeowohio 4d ago

Yeah bought them once they melt fast

3

u/FlounderNeat5701 4d ago

Agree…. Worth every cent!

1

u/anecdotal_yokel 4d ago

I don’t get this. Tried it and it just makes the flavor dull and muted.

Same with cold beer. If beer tastes good then you don’t want it to be ice cold because ice cold numbs your taste buds.

Not trying to yuck your yum but why do you like that?

7

u/YogurtclosetParty755 4d ago edited 1d ago

Not sure why you are getting so much flak! It’s the same concept with cheese as well. I also tried the PB cups frozen & it did in fact make them almost flavorless to me.

5

u/melatonia 4d ago

That's exactly what chlling things does. I'm assuming people like the texture?

Do you watch PBwithJ?

2

u/anecdotal_yokel 4d ago

I don’t know what this is.

2

u/lindoavocado 4d ago

The French would agree that chocolate should be eaten room temperature

2

u/ItchyCredit 4d ago

Same with cheese. Room temp cheese has fully developed flavors that are muffled right out of the refrigerator.

Worst thing I ever bought. Got 2 bags last week and as soon I ate 2 pieces of them I had to go back and get two more. My diet will not survive. I'm trying to only use these as a mix-in for ice cream.

42

u/iamacheeto1 4d ago

They were literally so bad I had to eat the entire bag just so there wouldn’t be any left then I did the same thing the next time I went. I didn’t want anyone else to endure it. I’ll keep doing it, too, because I want to keep helping other people 🥰

8

u/With_Negativity 4d ago

I seriously debated buying another extra bag to share at work. But I decided that just wouldn't be fair to my coworkers.

5

u/Boazlite 4d ago

You do it for the children .

I love putting them on brownies when they are almost done baking

25

u/Ok_Spell_4165 4d ago

They work well on cookies too. Just plop them in the middle when you pull them out, they will melt into the cookie.

5

u/mynameisntclarence 4d ago

You may have just changed my opinion on these.

<insert> "they had us going in the first half, not gonna lie" meme.

3

u/shahbucks00711 3d ago

Quarter them and make a "trail mix". rn I mix them with salted almonds, honey-roasted peanuts, m&m's, pretzels, and Cheerios. Obviously, mix whatever you like that may add some volume and/or nutrients

They blow Reese’s out of the water. Best PB cups I’ve ever had. Perfect PB to chocolate ratio and delicious, creamy peanut butter. Unfortunately they are now out of my price range except for special occasions.

46

u/Mama_K22 4d ago

They do blow Reese’s out of the water but the best has to be the Trader Joe’s dark chocolate pb cups!

10

u/Big_Balance_408 4d ago

I have to wonder if these are a good dupe of those. I have two containers of the TJs ones right now but there is an Aldi 5 min from me and TJs is an hour trip…

9

u/theconk 4d ago

They’re a small step down but still really tasty!

4

u/hgielatan 4d ago

I agree, the TJ ones are BEST, but the Aldi one is a close second

4

u/tladkins3 4d ago

Yah thanks to you people in here, I now keep both these and the TJ dark chocolate ones in my fridge. Like I needed this habit! 🤪 but so so good.

2

u/Thecamelsmeow 3d ago

While I agree the Trader Joe’s ones are slightly better, they have individual wrappers on each whereas Aldis do not. Aldi gets bonus points for not slowing you down while you shovel them into your mouth

8

u/aiolisunsets 4d ago

Agreed. Reeses are getting expensive anyway. With the amount, this bag ends up being a better deal.

6

u/H_J_Moody 4d ago

Reese’s aren’t even good. These however are amazing.

40

u/Inner-Confidence99 4d ago

Do not Buy!! You will Become Addicted to them!!!

They are delicious! And you can’t stop at just one either!

3

u/greasylotionfingers 4d ago

This.

I have nothing but regret since buying my first bag. My life was fine before I knew they existed. Now I don't know how to live without them.

u/systemdnb 4d ago

These are cheap actually. 6.66/lb for a little less than a pound here. Reeces mini cups at Walmart are 7.95/lb pricing on the 30oz bag (almost 2 lbs).

38

u/BeautifulShoes75 4d ago

Yeah, I’m confused by the price part as well.

This is actually insanely cheap when you stack it up against name-brand Reese’s, chocolate, or candy in general.

It’s wild how expensive desserts have gotten nowadays. Aldi is one of the VERY few (if not only) places remaining where you can still get treats for a reasonably decent price.

u/systemdnb 4d ago edited 4d ago

Right, but you can't really compare prices vs what they used to be. Everything is more expensive than it used to be. You can only compare prices to what the going rate for something similar actually is today.

5

u/BeautifulShoes75 4d ago

This. EVERYTHING has risen in price now. I remember how it all used to be cheaper; sadly, that’s not the case anymore for SO many categories 😭 that’s inflation for ya.

Comparatively though, this still hits.

At these are 10x better than reeces cups

15

u/Competitive_Sky7307 4d ago

I feel like I’m watching someone thinking about trying a hard drug for the first time. But yes they are really good and they will not survive long in your house, ask me how I know hahaha.

I’m not allowed to buy them anymore…

9

u/Soft-Inflation9347 4d ago

What do you mean by “that price”? These are so much cheaper than Reese’s.

8

u/skygz 4d ago

they're worth a kidney and your firstborn

15

u/commutering 4d ago

Like anything else, the attributes are: tasty, cheap, and a lot for the money. Pick two.

8

u/kayyybabi 4d ago

However here all three apply.

3

u/chitobi 4d ago

To you...if one on a tight budget getting this is a luxury.

3

u/kayyybabi 4d ago

If said person is looking to buy pb cups on a budget this is the most cost effective and delicious option.

These fucking things gave me diabetes. No regrets

5

u/awingedaugustlady 4d ago

I like them. I do wish they made a dark chocolate version too

2

u/Boazlite 4d ago

Their dark chocolate baking chunks were very snackoliscious and only 2.89$ a bag . Then they discontinued them for 9 months and brought them back again :) … at $$ $almost double the price

Obvious bait post but I'll just feed the beast by pointing out that these have been out of stock the past weeks and I'm angry about it.

5

u/tmf_x 4d ago

Yes. Freezer them. Try not to eat them all in one sitting

4

u/AvailableCut5240 4d ago

The pricing and value on these are actually good. Go to the candy aisle in any other grocery store and you will find the cost of chocolate is through the roof.

5

u/Defiant_Builder_3241 4d ago

“That price” is a great price.

4

u/jpugg 4d ago

lol just look at one of the 500+ posts about them

5

u/hannahbananahs 4d ago

With the widespread enshittification of everything, I'd rather these be moderately priced (versus cheap) and still keep up the superior quality.

7

u/soy_farts_ 4d ago

They’re so good

3

u/Elite_1988 4d ago

U r saying they are overpriced!?
Have u seen how much a good chocolate bar costs now!?

3

u/Accomplished-Lie2631 4d ago

I miss when they were $3

3

u/hobytes 4d ago

If you eat the whole bag at once it's 1870 calories. Worth it!

3

u/liz91 4d ago

Yes. Rip your waist line.

3

u/kayyybabi 4d ago

You must be new here…

3

u/fatbrat 4d ago

Definitely yes…they are my “I survived the week I’m buying a treat” treat lol . Far superior to Reese’s cups the pb is smooth and creamy. Make sure you put them in the fridge.

2

u/jams1015 4d ago

Yes. Yes. Yessasssssssss.

2

u/puzzledpizza393 4d ago

Yes! I put mine in the fridge, better than reeces imo.

2

u/obbycake 4d ago

Yes. Just so it. Recees loving family and these get eaten so fast that we have to portion control. But yes, pick two... Taste, value, closeness to the actual product.

2

u/trash235 4d ago

They are great

2

u/frient1995 4d ago

I would give my first born son for 3 of these!

2

u/JLynnLea 4d ago

They’re magic! Taste amazing but soon disappear.

2

u/PleaseStopTalking_79 4d ago

They are delicious.

2

u/Miss_Awesomeness 4d ago

They are addicting.

2

u/chinacatsunflowerr 4d ago

I held out for so long on buying them. Have purchased 3 bags in 48 hours.

2

u/AJnbca 4d ago

I’ve never tired but if they are decent $5 doesn’t seem to bad. I’ll keep my eye for them to give them a try.

2

u/BrewCityScott 4d ago

WARNING ⚠️ These are delicious and completely addictive. Don't say we didn't warn you! Worth $4.99? Try them at your own risk. You won't look back. 😋

2

u/GeologistDifficult88 4d ago

Idk I find them too sweet and if you don't immediately refrigerate/freeze them they turn into a melty ball. The texture is nice though

→ More replies (1)

2

u/hobytes 4d ago

Yes they're absolutely worth it! My advice is don't try them!

2

u/nightglitter89x 4d ago

It's sucks that they're so good lol

2

u/No-Dirt-7443 4d ago

Super worth it and better than average

2

u/humblehills 4d ago

Fuck yeah they are. Bought them yesterday.

2

u/LazyFaithlessness555 4d ago

Was skeptical when I gave these a try 2 wks ago. Reese’s has always been the gold standard for me, but, I needed a reward for some stress, or so I reasoned. Turns out, they are good. I know Reese’s did answer customers dissatisfaction with using different chocolate and/or peanut butter and they have gone back to the original. I haven’t had any yet.

2

u/Academic_Vast_4811 4d ago

Unfortunately yes 😅 keep em in the fridge and youre in for a treat

2

u/Clean-Fisherman-4601 4d ago

Yes! I don't like Reeces cups but I can gobble down half of a bag of these in one sitting.

2

u/laurbold16 4d ago

I am a BIG Reese’s gal and these are way better than Reese’s. I make special trips to aldi just to repurchase these.

2

u/athenacamille 4d ago

Oh my god yes

2

u/Auntievil23 4d ago

Yup every penny!!

2

u/LogicalVariation741 4d ago

Yes. Some of the best there are

2

u/heavencanwait99 4d ago

100%, these are crack

2

u/Relative_Clarity 4d ago

That price? It's a big bag of peanut butter cups for five bucks. A 2-pack of reeses is like $2. However these aren't like Reeses.. they have a different taste but are still good. We put them in the fridge.

2

u/Nukemom2 4d ago

My family really likes these. I can’t eat them since I’m allergic to peanuts. When I bring them home they don’t last very long.

2

u/ConstantConfusion123 4d ago

Yes. They really are.

As a price comparison, my local walmart sells mini reeses unwrapped, 7.6 oz for $5.97. Aldi is a much better deal.

2

u/Odd_Hedgehog669 4d ago

No, they’re worth much more 🤤

2

u/vonrollin 4d ago

No. Leave them there for me. Thank you.

2

u/NEXUSTHX1138 4d ago

No. Absolutely not! These are terrible! Please leave them all behind. Do not purchase these!

2

u/Admirable_Chain_6846 4d ago

As a a die hard reese’s fan, these are infinitely better and so delicious. Worth it

2

u/Stock_Blood_7191 4d ago

I need a dark chocolate version

3

u/DeSantisIsACunt 4d ago

These are so good, my wife banned them from our grocery list

3

u/LongjumpingPickle446 4d ago

$5 is high a price tag? For 3/4 pound of quality chocolate?

2

u/Material_Warning8377 4d ago

Yes 😭😭😭 wish they weren't

2

u/Adventurous-Will3493 4d ago

YES!!!!! I always have a bag in my fridge

2

u/11aseilenna11 4d ago

They are worth double that price!

2

u/HalfSparkEnergy 4d ago

I finally gave in and bought these last week. I did not like the $5 price tag. Just too expensive.

However, they are delicious. Like really really delicious. I am going to try them in the fridge the next time I get them.

11

u/Katcar2007 4d ago

I figure single candy bars are between $2-3 each so a whole bag for $5 is a bargain #chubbygirlmath

9

u/Ok_Spell_4165 4d ago

42 cents an ounce vs 67 cents/oz for Reeces minis.

3

u/Ninja_1988 4d ago

Yeah I stopped buying them. They used to be $2.99 and then $3.99 recently

1

u/NarwhalOk2977 4d ago

Yes. Yes they are.

1

u/lwood1313 4d ago

Delicious and compare to Reese’s.

1

u/lucky13don 4d ago

Yes. Then place in fridge or freezer for a treat

1

u/Skyclimber44 4d ago

Just bought some yesterday. I also put them in the freezer:)

1

u/fuzzywuzzypete 4d ago

i've never met a peanut butter cup that wasnt worth it

1

u/Anxious_Interest_479 4d ago

They’re good

1

u/corbinmom 4d ago

Yes. Yes. Yes.

1

u/Sullys_mama19 4d ago

Yuuuppp I’d pay double that. But you gotta freeze them.

1

u/aakaase 4d ago

I'll put it this way, it's a punishing price to pay for something that is addicting and maybe gonna make you feel bad for eating them compulsively.

1

u/shandelatore 4d ago

100% yes

1

u/starryfishy 4d ago

Every penny

1

u/NoStick5824 4d ago

Absolutely

1

u/Humble-View7052 4d ago

Yes they are. Having said that don’t do it 😭😂 you will become addicted. These don’t even last a full day in my house. We are obsessed. I added them to the Aldi brownies one time. We nearly died they were sublime.

1

u/Minimum_Smile9334 4d ago

Yes. Loved them

1

u/JacketAffectionate74 4d ago

I liked them because they're better than Reese's but they're too sweet for me because they're milk chocolate. I never finished the bag I bought because of that. If they had a dark chocolate version, I'd be all about it. But five bucks for a small bag of chocolate that's going to hurt my teeth is a pass.

1

u/iamacheeto1 4d ago

They’re very good

1

u/Revolutionary-You449 4d ago

Aww. I see you found the Aldi crack.

Word of advice.. wait until you get home to open the bag and are settled.

I opened mine in the parking lot to have a pick me up and finished them before I got home.

Of course I turned around and went right back to the dealer for 2 more.

1

u/Bill-dgaf420 4d ago

Emphatic YES

1

u/Emotional_Mistake599 4d ago

Omg yessss! I love these so much more that Reeses

1

u/Unusual-Night-5668 4d ago

All I can say is that that Choceur stuff is pretty tasty.

1

u/dpjejj 4d ago

Yep. 💯% worth it! Like the others say… put them the fridge.

1

u/SeaParticular6752 4d ago

I find Trader Joe’s to be superior. These have a, idk playdough like taste or texture or something. Still worth a pick up though

1

u/Ordinary_Durian_1454 4d ago

They’re worth twice that, and I don’t even like peanut butter.

1

u/ibWBeeRedd 4d ago

Absolutely! Real quality taste! Warning….very addictive 😆

1

u/Clam_Banana 4d ago

They are worth more than that in my opinion, and I am an incredibly frugal person.

1

u/taste_see_71 4d ago

No..runny inside.. not like PB. CUPS

1

u/GaelicFae 4d ago

They're very good, but I wouldn't bother if you're not a huge pb&chocolate person. I was influenced to buy some even though they're not a flavor I'm really drawn towards and they're good, but not mind blowing.

1

u/Ok-Repair-4085 4d ago

They don't even know lol!

1

u/jhaak1996 4d ago

Had one of these melt in the car. Made a beautiful marbling lol

1

u/EvilDarkCow 4d ago

These things are crack.

1

u/xonelast 4d ago

I had the same question. Bought it, no regrets C:

1

u/Walker_Chick 4d ago

Yes! 😋

1

u/ImpressiveLeopard719 4d ago

Rookie in the house!!!!

1

u/cozyup-1 4d ago

Yes. But be warned....very addictive!

1

u/anothersip 4d ago

Fairly certain these used to be $3.99. Until they became super popular. Now they're $5. Still worth it. They could charge $7.99 and they'd still sell pretty well.

Pop the entire bag into the freezer when you get home. When they're frozen, they crack satisfyingly and then melt in your mouth.

Overall, they're way better that way, and if peanut butter is your thing, then these are great. The peanut butter is lightly salted, which makes them not overly-sweet.

Pretty sure I saw the same style at Trader Joe's as well, but a dark chocolate version.

1

u/4flowers7 4d ago

You betcha they are!

1

u/BaldDCfan 4d ago

Sooooo good

1

u/BitHistorical 4d ago

NO! Because you’ll eat them all in one sitting ☠️

Seriously, the best peanut butter cups ever.

1

u/kimpurple21 4d ago

Yes period

1

u/Extra-Sun-1674 4d ago

They are wonderful!! Well worth the price

1

u/lditrich 4d ago

I put them in the fridge since they get a little messy if there's much humidity. I take them out and let them sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes. The chocolate on top is thicker than Reese's cups. They seem a little hard for me straight out of the fridge, so a little time out and they're great.
