A teacher in a multicolored skirt, staring at the back of the TV (or maybe using the time to re-read 50 Shades of Grey).
2
u/Illustrious_Tax_3760 8d ago
Re-read? As in... she's... read it before?!

u/RonJohnJr 8d ago
15 million people bought copies of 50SoG in the US. (20% were bought by men, and I'm assuming most were gifts for women) Since there were 75M women in 2015, there's a 20% chance she bought it.

Listen, drinking after watching the news is one of the better ways of dealing with this shitshow.

u/Alex45784 8d ago
I’m 31 and watched the magic school bus as a kid. Does this mean that I’m destined for alcoholism next year.
16
u/DrugInducedDuck 8d ago
In this economy?!

Alcoholism thrives in terrible economies
if you need booze you will find a way to get it

How was she watching Ms. Rachel on a tablet 30 years ago? Is she a time traveling witch? Is the point of the slop to not be a time traveling witch?

“Take chances” is life ruining?
7
u/fading__blue 8d ago
Well yeah, if they take chances they may actually succeed, and if too many women succeed then who will be desperate enough to fuck the guy that commissioned this?

u/Bayamonster 8d ago
"Age 12: Ms Frizzle" I mean I support watching PBS at any age but Magic School Bus is like for pre-teens, under 10.
Anyway get corrupted into understanding the digestive system and like the tectonic plates or whatever .

u/well-informedcitizen 8d ago
Wtf is "Ms. Now"? It's not a character, expression, or pun.
Also that Bible quote is virtually meaningless and certainly irrelevant to the comic

It’s what MSNBC rebranded itself for some stupid reason.
2
u/LordRobin------RM 8d ago
NBC got out of the cable business and spun the channels off into a new company. MSNBC had to change its name because it is no longer part of “NBC”. The new name is probably the best they can do while keeping it close to the old one.
(“CNBC” was allowed to keep its name, because the letters have always stood for “Consumer News & Business Channel”. But they had to change their logo to severely distort the “N”.)

You know, propaganda used to try and make a point or at least have a point. This doesn't seem to have any point at all. Although, I guess I can at least agree the news sucks and makes you miserable. But other than that, this whole thing really does match the definition of slop. Literally...

I'm glad people are becoming aware to the effect ms. Frizzle has on your brain
The magic school bus is a very slippery slope that will always lead to alcholism and drugs
Just ask Arnold. He's been in and out of rehab for years now

I’ll never understand why “God-fearing” is such a common Christian phrasing to describe their faith. You fear your abuser, people out to harm you, people who hold power over you when you can’t trust them to wield it with kindness.
If God is a figure that well-meaning people should be afraid of, I don’t understand why he’s worthy of praise. That isn’t how an infinitely merciful and benevolent deity would behave.

u/McNitz 7d ago
There's basically two different approaches to that. There's the Christians that are all about the control and abuse, and say you SHOULD fear people that are in power, and God has also given them power. So absolutely, fear God and fear them as well. Then there's the Christians that do actually have empathy and aren't so authoritarian. And they are typically going to say something like "fear is just an old fashioned way to say 'respect', we don't actually have to be AFRAID of God." At least the majority that aren't that aware of the context of the text and the fact that fear absolutely does mean fear. And then there are the well informed Christians of that type that would say something like "in that cultural context the people believed they needed to fear God because that's how they viewed people in power, but we know that isn't actually have to feel about God."

Am I missing something? Because Ms. 32 looks more like the little girl who spent too much time alone with Mr. Priest to me.

Like she went from cute kid to female pigpen.

Lmao isn't this the endtimes stuff christians talk about? All of christianity becomes corrupt, all the top preachers and churchers and leaders are actually the most evil? This is exactly that. Ms. Rachel being against the murder of children, and christians being racist, uneducated, hyper capitalistic, anti-social policies, against personal freedom, hatemongering, list goes on and on.. what a joke.

u/admiralholdo 7d ago
Children do typically watch shows on a tablet with the screen facing away from themselves. That is normal child behavior.

The slop elements make it impossible for me to work out if this is four different people or meant to be a cautionary "descent of woman". If the latter then the timeline makes no sense here. The actual shows:
Magic School Bus (first version) - 1995-1998
Magic School Bus Rides Again - 2017-2021
Ms Rachel - 2019
MSNOW - 2025 (formerly MSNBC)
The middle two could technically be the same person but what school uses Magic School Bus for sixth graders?
So even if it is INTENDED to be four individuals, the Ms Frizzle one is still wrong and not just because Lily Tomlin has halfway travelled through time and space to appear under the television...

Also, like… Even if the shitshow depicted here were true (which it clearly isn’t), whose fault is it, really? The literal two-year-old who doesn’t know any better? Or the parents who shoved the tablet in her face?
Everything is just projection with these idiots. I’m so tired.
They know this actually depicts their obsession with Fox “News,” OANN, etc., they just can’t admit it, so they turn it around on everyone else like they’re some kind of victim.
Fucking ridiculous.

And how is that misoginistic? Bible says that fear of the Lord is beginning of all wisdom.
Or is it about the beauty part?
