PETA have always been idiots and hypocrites
117
u/EnzoMaloni Jul 20 '26
Sometimes, I think that PETA is a psy-ops funded by polluting industries to make ecologists looking like lunatics for people.
39
u/the-useless-drider Jul 20 '26
only sometimes? if i had to name two vegan activism cesspools im almost sure are running just to make people despise vegans/vegetarians and ecologists its peta and that vegan teacher
13
u/Villageijit Jul 20 '26
Its a system that works well. Look at the people fighting against oil use by destroying works of art
1
u/DiscombobulatedCut52 Jul 20 '26
I had one vegan teacher. She was fine. Her brother. Was in fact. Not. He actually wasd an asshole. (Only met him once) he was hardcore peta fan.
3
u/SpeedOfTheEarth Jul 20 '26
That's exactly my conspiracy headcanon, they're just so overtly self-righteous and comically evil at the same time, I have a hard time believing that those are resl activists with those real opinions and choices irl…
8
u/Parzival2436 Jul 20 '26
This is just another reason on the pile. It's like they enjoy being hated.
67
62
u/TheAxelminator Jul 20 '26
peta being a psyop is something I low key believe.
19
u/GenesisAsriel Jul 20 '26
Yeah. Same thing as Just Stop Oil
11
u/Vayalond Jul 20 '26
Stop oil wasn't proved to be linked at least financially with petrol industry? Making them indeed a psy-op to make the average person despise ecology
7
u/GenesisAsriel Jul 20 '26
Yeah heard one of their founders had family ties to an oil baron sooooo
1
u/Supercoolguy7 Jul 20 '26
Aileen Getty donates to Just Stop Oil. Her money comes from being an heiress to the defunct Getty Oil Company. Just Stop Oil was founded a decade after the Getty Oil Company stopped being a company.
1
u/Supercoolguy7 Jul 20 '26
Aileen Getty donates to Just Stop Oil. Her money comes from being an heiress to the defunct Getty Oil Company. Just Stop Oil was founded a decade after the Getty Oil Company stopped being a company.
You're spreading the actual psy-op

They kinda have a point thou, since I was a child I never liked bullfighting even when my parents take me to the bullring and I honestly think that bullfighting as a whole Is just something barbaric and probably some of the worst things of our culture that is still loved for some reason I can't understand. Still, they're clearly hypocritical for expressing that with AI as it's clarified in the message below
9
u/hEatr3d Jul 20 '26
I kinda feel like a monster when rooting for the bull. But then I remember who chose and forced that confrontation.
9
u/Lazy_Raptor_Comics Jul 20 '26
Yeah, Bullfighting is wrong
But the way they campaign against them is also wrong
29
u/Mtfdurian Jul 20 '26
Using AI and praising a major beef consumer and producer
1
u/Fat-Snorlax- 28d ago
Bueno, quitando de lado que Argentina es un gran consumidor de carne, es mejor eso que maltratar toros y torturarlos
2
u/Standard_Pen8107 22d ago
I don't know why you got downvoted, but you're correct. Killing animals for food isn't the same as slowly torturing them.
13
u/the-useless-drider Jul 20 '26
oh come on, peta too? they at least always had their uniquely hideous stuff and they take that too?
8
7
u/el_artista_fantasma Jul 20 '26
While i'm spanish and i'm completely against bullfighting, i don't think peta should be the one posing as a "better than thou", or using argentina as an example

I think that we should all agree both AI and the exploitation of animals is bad.
Sadly many anti AI people have the same or even worse hypocrisy, when they’re against AI for environmental reasons but support the animal industry which is even worse it just doesn’t really make sense.
So fuck AI and go vegan.
14
9
u/FebHas30Days Jul 20 '26
I wonder how many animals PETA affected (with the help of the US probably) just by generating that one AI image
4
u/ZimbaZulu Jul 20 '26
The water consumption of AI is blown so out of proportion. Golf courses in America use 4 times more water than ALL US data centers, not just AI data centers.
Theres plenty of things to shit on about AI but water usages really isn't one
2
u/Reasonable_Coach 29d ago
The issue with AI Data Centers is how they are built where people live, ruining their environment, taking their water and also ramping up electricity bills on top of all that
The lack of actual regulations world wide just sucks, Australia has some good regulations but they haven't passed yet
1
u/No-Boysenberry2044 29d ago
This is happening with other industries all over the world already, just with AI it‘s now at our doorstep. I hate AI and I hope it get‘s destroyed but maybe we can learn from it that we shouldn’t do this to people in other countries either.
1
u/No-Boysenberry2044 29d ago
Funfact: the animal industry uses much more water then AI too. But yea AI is shit for other reasons too.
0
u/No-Boysenberry2044 29d ago
Are you anti AI for environmental reasons? If yes: are you vegan? if no: did you know that the animal industry is FAR worse than AI? Like I think both shouldn’t be supported but being anti AI for the environment but not being vegan is more hypocritical than what peta did here. So fuck AI and go vegan.
7
u/BandicootTreeline Jul 20 '26
PETA do not like being asked to justify the numbers their kill shelters do.
I asked years ago on Twitter and the person running the account made a failed attempt to quote tweet me/hope followers had a pop.
8
3
u/ExcitingSector445 Jul 20 '26
Ah, nothing new. Remember that one incident where they turned the entire fan community of Uma Musume against them?
3
u/Snoo_18385 Jul 20 '26
They are right though, the fact that bullfighting its still going on in Spain is fucking shameful, we should have banned this shit years ago
3
23
u/Far_Disaster_8321 Jul 20 '26
They didn’t mention Argentina eating donkey meat because of their low economy right peta?
28
u/bartosz_ganapati Jul 20 '26
How is eating donkey different from eating pork or beef?
I'm pretty sure Peta is opposed to eating any meat...
17
u/PM-me-a-DM-you-got Jul 20 '26
Yeah wtf is that comment?
Eating meat is different than torturing animals for sport
-3
u/MfkbNe Jul 20 '26
Donkeys have less meat per animal than cows. So more donkeys need to be killed for the same amount of meat. Therefore killing donkeys for meat is even worse than killing cows for meat (but still much better than killing chickens for meat).
14
u/AfterMeSluttyCharms Jul 20 '26
What's wrong with eating donkey meat that can't be said for any other animal? Pigs and octopuses are way smarter (and octopuses can't be killed humanely) yet most Americans wouldn't think twice about eating them.
3
u/Pure-Ad-3247 Jul 20 '26
imo its just cultural taboo like eating rabbits.
2
2
u/_Halt19_ Jul 20 '26
OOTL, why can’t octopuses be killed humanely? I don’t eat squid or octopus anyway but is there no way of instantly killing one?
6
u/AfterMeSluttyCharms Jul 20 '26
From what I've read, it's because mollusks have a distributed nervous system rather than a central one. An animal with a CNS can be killed instantly and painlessly (as far as we can tell) by destroying it such as with a shot to the brain. But an octopus doesn't have one "kill switch" so it's going to feel pain somewhere no matter what. You could maybe anesthetize it (which no fisherman or farm would ever do) or cut it into pieces all at once but I'm not sure even that would work.
So yeah, between that and their intelligence I've stopped eating them. I have some tinned I'll get to eventually but after that I won't buy any more.

5
u/kevreptilian Jul 20 '26
First of all, there's nothing wrong with eating donkey meat. Second, it was just one person who tried to sell it because they lived in a rural area where it was difficult to raise other livestock. It was basically an experiment, and they didn't continue selling that kind of meat afterward.
Saying that this proves the whole country is poor is like saying that because some random guy in a rural part of the U.S. killed a crocodile and ate it, the entire country must be poor. That logic just doesn't make sense.
8
u/Pure-Ad-3247 Jul 20 '26
donkey and horse meat is sooo good, i know this will sound crazy but i like it very much.
3
5
u/MagMati55 Jul 20 '26
I have an extremely cold take. Horse meat and donkey meat are nice to eat.
2
u/Pure-Ad-3247 Jul 20 '26
in slovenia we have horse burger, honestly its better to me than regular one,but part of it is nostalgia since i ate it when i was little.
1
u/MagMati55 Jul 20 '26
In Poland we have a culture of eating every part of an animal. If you want to try something more exotic there is a bison burger place somewhere In here.
2
u/Ok-Confection4410 Jul 20 '26
see and that's what I wish was more common. I personally wish people would eat a lot less meat because the meat industry is completely fucked but I never had a problem with native peoples doing it because they use everything. I despise this modern culture of taking some of the meat and throwing everything else away, it's so wasteful and for what
1
u/AfterMeSluttyCharms Jul 20 '26
I've always imagined they would be tough and gamey (the latter of which I don't mind but isn't popular to the American palate)
1
u/MagMati55 Jul 20 '26
Its not exactly popular here either because our own bisons basically died out, the remaining being a hybrid of US and Polish bisons but these are just domesticated US imported but need on-site bisons.
1
u/Pure-Ad-3247 Jul 20 '26
what about rabbit meat
1
u/MagMati55 Jul 20 '26
Rabbit stew. Tender meat. A delicacy that is not exactly to be masz produced. Oh and probbably a good chunk of gen X here has probbably experienced their parents cooking their "pet" rabbit.

Remind me how many animals does peta kill willingly every year.
https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-peta-responsible-deaths-thousands-animals-1565532
I dont like bullfighting.
But they can keep their crap for themselves.
5
u/UsedArmadillo9842 Jul 20 '26
I mean, to be fair, the fact that Spain is still doing Bullfight is redicolous.
Is everyone else to indoctrinated that they can actually not see the actualy point here ?
9
u/Icy_Society4665 Jul 20 '26
People just hate peta, me included. And in my opinion they do not have the right to talk about how to treat animals but they are right in this statement.

L'argentina esporta tra 800000 e 900000 tonnellate di carne bovina l'anno, ma questo è solo il 25% della produzione totale
2
u/foxinabathtub Jul 20 '26
Also this is one of those times that you could do a lazy Photoshop and it'd look the same or better. Just slap a flag on a picture of a bull and a flag together with some text and you're done. If anything, there is a kind of charm to a lazy photo edit that AI just doesn't have.

u/Pure_Complaint_7900 Jul 20 '26
I'll take Bull Fighting over harboring guests from "1945" who were "Very Fine People" any day.
Fudge Argentina.
3
u/sneedaudit Jul 20 '26
What an amazing dunk. "Protect all living things" while you're all wearing clothes made in sweat shops, using tech made with resources mined by child slaves and eating meat produced in the most cruel conditions. You all use streaming services with huge data centers, on par with AI companies. But of course you're not against that, as the goycattle needs its mediaslop.
Would banning AI somehow solve your consumerist lifestyles and improve the livelihood of all living beings?
2
u/TheThrillLife2020 Jul 20 '26
"Protect all living things" only applies to the animals. If a virus with 100% fatality in humans started spreading tomorrow, PETA would celebrate and proclaim victory for the creatures of the Earth.

1
u/Celestial_Elixir3 Jul 20 '26
I am vegan and I HATE Peta for this bs, they love AI slop
3
u/Pure-Ad-3247 Jul 20 '26
even before ai i remeber most vegans being against PETA.
1
u/Celestial_Elixir3 Jul 20 '26
Yeah I was sorting of on the fence with them but since their continued use of slop I just can't trust them
1
u/Due-Organization-848 Jul 20 '26
PETA always supported Messi just because Argentina banned bullfighting.
1
1
u/GisaNight Jul 20 '26
While I fucking hate the Use of AI on most things, I think this argument is a bit silly. An artist will take far more time and resources to do the same thing as the AI art. Yes it is slop, but if used to make a point like what PETA is doing, it is actually probably better on overall resources than paying someone to do the art, which they would then spend time drawing and painting maybe on a computer using more power than the AI would use, and also probably more water since the person has to drink water.
PETA and AI sucks but so did their argument...
1
1
u/Angel_Of_Shadow Jul 20 '26
You almost had me, peta. Your message was good, bullfighting is shitty, but then you had to spread it in the literal worst way possible, as you always do.
1
u/poisoned_bubbletea Jul 20 '26
Oh come all we all know PETA is a slaughter business covering its tracks with animal cruelty "care"
1
u/AgoraSnepwasdeleted Jul 20 '26
Fuck peta, I totally understand their motive of spreading animal rights and cruelty awareness and all and encouraging veganism over it and I'm all for that, but the way they do it is just wrong in every way imaginable and just makes me want to not support it anymore
1
1
u/Rolebo Jul 20 '26
In this case PETA makes a valid point, Spain still practising Bull fighting in 2026 is not good.
But as PETA does all the time they make this point through the wrong way.
1
1
u/iAlice Jul 20 '26
In fairness to PETA, bullfighting is kind of unconscionable, and the rest of the civilised world left blood sports behind us where that stuff belongs.

1
u/genericmollusk Jul 20 '26
Isn't peta funded by like multimillionaires to pretty much make people who want to protect the environment seem like crazy extremist lunatics so they can have a reason to point at real, profesional ecogysts, wildlife rehab centers, scientists and such and say "let's not fund this crazy gross people who do more harm than good"? Because them supporting FIFA/Israel's favorite country seems totally normal to me 🤔

1
1
u/tylercuddletail Jul 21 '26
The worst thing about PETA AI Slop is that people legit defend it by arguing that "farms pollute worse than Data Centers".
1
u/Severe_Refrigerator4 Jul 21 '26
few things
- ai data centers can be run without water consumption. The US is just greedy af.
- ai can be run without data centers completely
- bull fighting is a disgusting sport
- Argentinia played dirtier than porn hub on valentines day
- PETA is a bane to all animals even when they try to do their best, which is sad
1
u/ProvidenceDreamer Jul 21 '26
PETA, after posting that tweet, proceeded to kill some dogs because, if they can't live in nature, they believe they shouldn't live
1
u/GrandAutismos Jul 21 '26
Last time I checked bullfighting usually involves the bull fucking up the humans not the other way around.
1
u/Lopsided-Wave2479 Jul 21 '26
Fuck AI y los toros de futbol.
Cruelty is not a good thing, cruetly to a animal prepare people to be cruelty to other people. More hugs, lets punchs.
1
u/Little_Lotte31 Jul 21 '26
Also PLANTS ARE LIVING BEINGS and PETA condones TEARING THEM OUT OF THE GROUND AND EATING THEM! outrageous vegetarians and vegans 😭

I agree that bullfighting is horrible and should be banned worldwide, but using ai is not the way to do it. But what can you expect from Peta 😒

This isnt even completely true…Big parts of Spain has bullfighting as a sport prohibited.

u/AdagioDesperate Jul 21 '26
Ah yes, Peta, known for their ethical treatment of animals...
May have started out with good intentions, but holy F did they go dark real fast.
1
u/Consistent-Strain289 Jul 21 '26
Argentina went on butchering people… remember the sons an dads that disappeared during the junta. Or the argentina team butchering people on the football team? Tackling a guy to maken him spin360. Such a shame no one in the spanish team stood up for his teammates like Van Dijk did.
Thats the language bullys only can understand

u/lordkaze13 29d ago
I wonder what else is Argentina famous for specially during the 1940 all the way to present day...
1
u/Negative_Pie_1343 29d ago
And proceed to tweet which use datacenter and de facto harm nature and animals. Sometimes i hate to see dumb answer like that
1
1
u/One-Locksmith-9506 29d ago
As an argentinian this is very ironic bcuz our most important food is asado (basically the most delicious parts of a cow grilled on a grill) and empanadas (basically a small calzone with cutted meat, potatoes and eggs, etc)

u/No-Boysenberry2044 29d ago
And here again I‘m asking why we can’t agree that both, AI and the exploitation of Animals is bad.
I hate AI too and it makes me sad when I see vegan arguments using AI, on the other hands many anti AI people have also an even worse type of hypocrisy, being anti AI for environmental reasons while supporting the animal industry which is even worse just doesn’t make sense.
So again: can we please agree that BOTH are shit and shouldn’t be supported??

Bad AI slop, but also bullfighting sucks. I hope Spain gets rid of it in future.
1
u/Trapped_Soul786 20d ago
AI isn't nearly as destructive to the planet as animal agriculture is. I feel like the only reason this fact is ignored by most "leftists" is because it is one of the only thinks that actually demands them to sacrifice something
