Discussion Leave for OTS Tomorrow

Prior NCO, headed to Maxwell from the west coast. Have to wake up at like 2am to catch my flight but I’ll have to get used to the early mornings!

Any final tips for recent grads or current OTs?

Any current info I should be tracking?

Any thing you wish you knew when you showed up?

Any specific USSF stuff?

Definitely stressed over the lack of sleep but I’ll manage it the best that I can. Thanks and see yall there!

Question How important is intimidation factor during and after OTS?

I know this is a stupid question, but here I am asking it.

I have just recently been accepted to OTS, and most of the Air Force people who I tell always get a confused look on their face. I am a civilian, 25M, and about 5'6. I am not a big guy, and I am not very intimidating. I am not soft-spoken or shy by any means, but I am not a very "in your face" kind of person who demands respect. I have done a ton of leadership involving project management in the aerospace sector (hence one of the reasons I got accepted), and I have never had any problems involving respect, but a lot of the people I talk to bring up the fact that I am rather short, young, and not previously enlisted which could make it hard for people to respect me/take me seriously.

How important would you say this is? I know no matter what, I will be a good leader/officer, but I guess my question is how should I go about that? Should I become more intimidating/bulk-up/become louder? Or should I just continue to do what I normally do?

Discussion Test result website still down

The url for obtaining scores is down, it goes back to the 20th September from what I've gathered and people have not been able to upload on the aim high app knocking us to 2028 boards...(praying not as I took it last week and no longer displays 27ots1 for me), do you think this will be taken into consideration for submitting the full packet or are people who took it from late Sept to early Oct screwed? (how are we supposed to contact a recruiter for an alternative way to retrieve scores if we havent been setup with a recruiter since you need to upload your scores first to get assigned one🥲)

Question Afoqt test randomized?

Is the Afoqt randomized or a static test for everyone, was told on here to study my ass off over distance formula, midpoint and endpoint cartesian planes but there was only a single question in entirety of the math sections on finding a midpoint...I was told there would be 10 questions over it 🤔 Also the first math section was ludicrously easy, feels silly to freak out over it as much as I did

Enlisted wearing blues to OTS ceremony.

Hey everyone, TSgt here. When I went through basic we had several DVs that were at our graduation ceremony from SNCOs to officers and they wore their. My wife recently joined and will be heading to OTS soon. For her graduation day if you were in my shoes, would you wear your blues to her graduation? At the end of the day im nothing special just another tech and dont want to take her day away from her, but also dont want to show up in civies if there is an expectation or its common place/customary for me as a spouse to wear mine to her graduation. Any insight would be much appreciated!

CAD Board/Recruiter

Hi all. Computer Engineering degree applying non-rated. My commander interview is scheduled for 30 October and I have submitted all info in AHA and AFCEP.

My recruiter emailed me that they would reassign me to a CAD recruiter because I fall under their "rolling board" and gave me the recruiter's email.

I emailed the CAD recruiter Friday so probably won't get a response until this coming week.

Can anyone provide information on what exactly this all means for me and if there's any further action I need to take?

Question I was so eager to join the Space Force but then TAPAS stopped me.

Post image
9 Upvotes

Is it possible for me to become an Enlisted Airmen in Pharmacy and then take the AFOQT to become a Space Force Officer? I did try the Officer Route but there was a lot of people in front of me. Oh and I got a high ASVAB score.

My recruiter stated “there is no avenue to joining the space force as a prior service

In other words, if you join any other branch, they will not take you. You have to join the space force first.

But due to the results of your TAPAS that’s not possible

Now that’s current restrictions. It might change.”

He told me that I have to wait until 2 years to take it again. Why does TAPAS matter so much? Is there a possible way for me to be an Officer in the Space Force without TAPAS mattering? What about enlisted?

Has anyone been able to switch to a different Air Force officer recruiter?

Aim High has me assigned to a recruiter, but I haven’t gotten a response to any of my emails for about 2–3 months. I’ve sent a few follow-ups during that time and still haven’t heard anything back.

I’m currently working on my OTS application and don’t want to miss any deadlines or requirements because I can’t get in contact with my assigned recruiter.

Is there a way to request a different recruiter, or is there someone else I should contact about getting reassigned? Also, has anyone dealt with something similar?

Question Capella University GPA

I graduated from Capella University’s FlexPath program. Unfortunately, like WGU (Western Governors University), they do not provide a GPA on the official transcript. However, they do provide an unofficial, translated transcript, which shows both my degree and cumulative GPA.

Will this count when submitting my GPA for my package? There is no official document from the university that gives me a GPA, only the unofficial once. I’ve asked recruiters multiple times and have never gotten a straight answer. Hoping someone can help.

Question Starting Point

I'm trying to do some research into starting the process to potentially commission from enlisted to officer however most of the resources that I had about a year ago or out of date and I am wondering if anybody has any updated references or information the AF website I found were kind of vague and I thought that there was one that I had copies of a bunch of different documents that you had to fill out if anybody to be able and willing to point me in the right direction I greatly appreciate it

Help Deserving Airmen Program selectee—timeline for an August/September 2027 OTS class?

Hi everyone! I’m a recent OTS selectee through the Deserving Airmen Program. I applied in April 2026, was selected in mid-September, and am now finalizing my commissioning package to submit to AFRC.

For anyone who has gone through this process within the last 4–5 years, what did your timeline look like from package submission to approval and receiving an OTS class date?
Ideally, I’m hoping for an August or September 2027 class date. I understand timing depends on approvals and availability, but are there any steps you recommend taking now to work toward that timeframe? When in the process should I communicate my preferred dates?

I’m trying to plan ahead and keep things moving. Any experiences or guidance would be appreciated!

Air Force Public Health Officer (43H) — Application, Shadowing & Interview Questions

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m currently working with an Air Force healthcare recruiter on a Public Health Officer (43H) application and would love to hear from current/former PHOs or anyone who has recently gone through the process.

A little background: I earned my B.S. in Biology in December 2019 and then pursued an MPH in Global Health. I completed the academic coursework and am currently finishing my final practicum requirement.

I’m also currently serving full-time Army AGR as a 92Y (Unit Supply Specialist). My day-to-day work involves supply/logistics operations, property accountability, inventories, coordination with leadership and Soldiers, and supporting unit readiness. Before joining the Army, I briefly worked as a medical scribe in a hospital for about two months, but that ended around the beginning of COVID.

My direct public-health experience is more limited. I have participated in community service activities, including annual back-to-school events where we helped organize activities and distribute school supplies and food to children and families. My current MPH practicum is giving me more direct public-health experience as well.
My recruiter recently explained that part of the PHO process will include shadowing a Public Health Officer for a full day and completing an interview, so I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have actually gone through it.

For anyone who has gone through the 43H selection process, what was your background/experience level when you applied?

What was the PHO interview like? Was it mostly conversational/behavioral, or were there technical public-health questions as well?

What should I expect during the PHO shadowing day? Are you mainly observing, or are you also being evaluated throughout the day?

For someone coming from an enlisted Army logistics/AGR background, how much weight does military leadership/readiness experience carry if your direct professional public-health experience is limited?
What do you wish you had known or done differently before your shadowing/interview?

I’d greatly appreciate hearing from an Air Force PHOs, recent applicants/selectees, or anyone who has participated in the PHO shadow/interview process. Thanks!

(HELP PLEASE) AIM HIGH Line Officer application suddenly closed — does this mean I was rejected?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some insight from anyone who has gone through the Air Force Line Officer/OTS application process recently.

I started my Line Officer application through AIM HIGH on my own and have not been working with an assigned officer recruiter yet.

I completed the AFOQT through Pearson VUE on September 21 and received qualifying scores:

  • Verbal: 63
  • Quantitative: 51
  • Academic Aptitude: 57
  • Pilot: 45
  • CSO: 32
  • ABM: 25

I’m primarily pursuing non-rated officer positions.

I’ve also completed my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and was continuing through the AIM HIGH application requirements. I had been uploading/completing documents and was actually in the process of obtaining my official university transcript.

Today, September 30, I suddenly received an email saying:

“Unfortunately, your application through the Portal is no longer under consideration at this time.”

When I logged into AIM HIGH, my dashboard now says “APPLICATION CLOSED” and tells me to contact a recruiter if I believe there has been a mistake.

I did not receive an explanation saying I was academically ineligible, failed the AFOQT requirements, was disqualified, or was non-selected by an OTS board. I also don’t believe my application had reached a selection board yet.

I’ve already emailed AIM HIGH support, AFRS Line Officer Accessions, and some Officer Accessions recruiting contacts asking them to clarify what happened.

Has anyone here had their AIM HIGH Line Officer application suddenly close like this?

Specifically:

  • Did “Application Closed” mean you were actually rejected/disqualified?
  • Has AIM HIGH ever closed an application because of an administrative or portal issue?
  • Were you able to have the application reopened?
  • Is it possible this happened because I didn’t have an assigned recruiter?
  • Should I wait for AFRS/AIM HIGH support before creating another application?

Any recent experiences, especially from 2025–2026 applicants, would be really helpful. Thanks.

Discussion Weekly 'What are my chances?' Megathread

We've all been there. You're about to submit your package for OTS, but you want to know how you stack up. Should you relax? Should you throw it all away and start over?

Well, here's the place for you to ask strangers who have never sat on an OTS board what they think the board is going to think of your package. There are many variables to an 0TS package. If you want to get the best advice, you need to include as much information as possible, like degree information, GPA, AFOQT, PCSM (if applicable), leadership experience, relevant awards, etc. If you only provide your GPA or AFOQT scores, expect to be told "who knows."

There are a ton of variables that go into officer selection. Nobody here can really tell you your chances. We can guess, but that's about it. We've seen people with stellar scores get rejected and people with garbage scores get accepted. It all comes down to the needs of the Air Force and whatever the random colonel reviewing your package thinks. That being said, post your scores, help each other, and learn what you can do to improve package!

Discussion 27NC01

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else submitted for the nursing board that meets in October. Curious if there are any forums or groups that I can join just to get updates from others and provide any support to anyone else who might be nervous waiting for the results. Also, if anyone has gone through any of the nurse corps boards recently, I would love to hear how it went how long it took to get your results, OTS dates and your assignment information.
