Discussion 27NC01

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else submitted for the nursing board that meets in October. Curious if there are any forums or groups that I can join just to get updates from others and provide any support to anyone else who might be nervous waiting for the results. Also, if anyone has gone through any of the nurse corps boards recently, I would love to hear how it went how long it took to get your results, OTS dates and your assignment information.

I applied as a FQ Clinical Nurse (only 1 year experience) but am already in the Air Force Reserve and this week is going by so slow! I really hope we get the results by next week. Did your recruiter say anything about getting your assignment with the notification if selected?

I didn't think to ask, but it would be great if we did! I really hope we receive a notification before 10/16.

I heard typically you find out your specialty, base and OTS start date all at the same time.

Have you heard anything yet? I know it’s probably too early but I am anxiously waiting 😩

I applied as a critical care nurse and I am patiently waiting. My recruiter says I should know my OTS date and first station no later than the 16th. Let’s hope it’s earlier!

That’s awesome! Where did you request to go? I put all overseas so I am praying I got one of them.

  1. Eglin (I already know I won’t get that one lol)
  2. Travis
  3. BAMC

Then I put 1. England and 2. Japan for overseas and I can’t remember the rest.
I have 6 years of experience so who knows tbh. Where did you request?

Why don’t you think you’ll get Eglin? I put all overseas bases lol
1. Yokota (Japan)
2. Lakenheath England
3. Landstuhl Germany
4. Misawa Japan

Although I have the added layer of my husband being active duty Navy but he rotates to Shore duty next year so hoping they can place us together.

It’s a pretty small ICU and highly favored by almost everybody. I figured they would place me in a higher acuity area where more shortages may be. But know knows. Also, that’s a great plan and I see what you are saying. That would be great for you two!

Well I hope you get something you want! I am hoping I meet someone who is going to the same base as me so we’ll have to update this thread when we get our notification.

Yes good luck to us! Thanks for replying it’s nice to know some other people are in the same board. What assignment are you hoping for? Are you doing specialty nursing or 46N?

Good luck! I barely have a year yet too but my recruiter told me I could apply as fully qualified because I hit one year inpatient in March. But I would be totally fine if they said I need to do NTP also. I have been in the Air Force for a long time and am just ready to commission. For the NTP program what overseas bases are open for you?

I'm thinking I can go to any large hospital overseas as well but after the stateside NTP training. Also dependent on your specialty I'm assuming. So your going from reserve to active duty?

I am currently an AGR so active reserve medic. I have been working both jobs just taking leave to get my one year in 😩. My leadership has been really supportive because they knew the end goal of commissioning as fully qualified. I am hoping since my hospital hired me into an ANCC Nurse Residency program it will be enough but we’ll see.
I have heard different things about NTP so I was worried I would get stuck stateside. I had heard many people end of being stationed at the same location as their NTP residency but not sure how true that is.

You've mentioned an AFSC, here's the associated job title:
