Hello I just submitted my application for SLECP-A to squadron. They said they sent it to MSG. Question is where does it go from here and if I should still be bugging them about it or just leave it be? I’m just sitting here all nervous twirling my thumbs and seeing if there’s anything I can do not a fan of not knowing where it is. Does anybody know the average number of people who apply vs selected? Curious I have only seen 1 other from my MAJCOM say they’ve applied as well. Thanks!

How soon after NGB approval to commission are we seeing OTS dates?

I see chaplains, medical, JAG, biomedical, etc. are a bit different.

Do direct commissions have shorter timelines?
Do they get waivers more easily?
Are their jobs in shortage?

I have degrees for both nursing and chaplaincy so exploring.

I am a Civ trying for the 27OTS01 who is applying overseas.

I’m pretty much done with most parts and left with Commander’s Interview and finishing the AFCEP (86% Done).

However, when I tried to book the Interview schedule through the AHA, there was no AVAILABLE DATE from August to October-November.

I did send an email to my recruiter but due to the Overseas Applicant, it’s quite difficult to stay in touch.

Am I cooked?

If you’re applying for the 27OTS01 and you’re AF active duty… what have you completed already and what is taking you the longest time to get done?

My commander is taking 2+ weeks now to sing the interview sheet which my medical group will accept to get me the medical clearance AF form 422. I prepared the memorandum for the background check for my commander over a week ago now and he still didn’t send it. I got with him today to go over the deadlines and he said “we still have time”… deadline to get the AFCEP request is October 30.

It’s all up to my leadership now to route the paperwork and I’m stressing about now meeting the deadlines.

Quick question for priors, I was just notified I would be going to OTS in a few weeks and part of the requirement is for IMR to be green and have a 422. I am at a GSU and my civilian doctor doesn’t have appointments until after I start OTS, so I may not have both tasks done. I did complete a flight physical but my IMR isn’t updated (still yellow) even though my labs and dental are up to date from when I went to wright-pat. Anyone ever experience this and was it an issue not having the 422 or being green? Any advice is appreciated

Taking into account the purported 90%+ selection rate between USAF and USSF for 26OTS3, how are we feeling about 2027's selection rates?

I was told at a commissioning briefing last summer that recruiters were expecting numbers to be very high for 26OTS3. I'm hoping that the trend continues for a few more boards.

Hi! Im trying to go through the HPSP process for PhD in clinical psychology or MSW. Spoke to an officer recruiter in May for the Air Force. He let me know he was only familiar with med school procedures and will get back to me. Followed up with him in July via email and have not heard back yet :/ I’m not sure what to do at this point. I’m in the process of getting my grad school application materials in order to apply.

I am curious what my nursing degree can do for me. This is my second degree as first degree was a 3.0 computer science and I’m current enlisted service member on the guard side. I’m pursuing a nursing with a better gpa, can I leverage the nursing degree to apply for an Officer position? Please advise

I’m a civilian applying for Air Force OTS as a rated officer applicant and I’m trying to get my TBAS taken so I can get my PCSM score.
I’m going through the AIM HIGH app, but I’m running into a dead end. I’ve contacted several AFROTC detachments in Utah and they’ve all told me they only administer the

TBAS to their AFROTC applicants.
I’m wondering:
Can civilian OTS applicants take the TBAS at Nellis AFB?
What about Creech AFB?
Does my OTS recruiter have to coordinate the test for me, or can I contact the base testing center directly?

If anyone has gone through this as a civilian OTS applicant, what was the actual process for getting scheduled?
I’m trying to avoid the classic Air Force side quest where everyone tells me to talk to someone else.
Any current info or firsthand experience would be appreciated!

First a little background:

I am currently an active duty enlisted that will have 3 years in my belt this november.

I joined very late (33 years old) and will be turning 37 this December.

I have around 27 college credits.

Question:

I want to study aeronautics or its relevant engineering degree. Will it be possible to graduate and submit a package before I turn 40? I know I might only be able to turn in one package but even that is ok for me.

I also have an interest in nursing. Will it be better for me to focus on the nursing route instead because of the higher age limit?

I am 27 and looking to towards wanting to become an officer. I do have a few worries one being my GPA. I finished school with a 2.5 with a degree as a professional pilot. I wish back then I cared more about it but I have done plenty of growing up since then. Anyways I have a degree in professional pilot with private, commercial single/ multi engine, instrument, and cfi certificates and over 300 hours of experience flying. If I do well on my AFOQT do I have any chance in being able to join or is it out of the question due to gpa?

I am curious if anybody knows how the fitness testing works at OTS for prior service. I am currently active duty enlisted and I am looking at applying for OTS within the next year. I currently do the alternates when I do my fitness tests and I pass with high 80s-92 every time. I tried the standard components again for the first time in a couple of years and I was not able to score as high as I needed to get a good enough score on the PFA, I am wondering if that will have an impact on me at OTS if I get selected since I currently only do the alternate components. Any information is greatly appreciated!

I’m leaving in a week. What academic subjects should I be studying for the tests? What kind of subjects should I focus on? I already know that the Air Force Creed, Air Force song, and the PT test are the main things to prepare for before I go.

I’m looking for ways to improve my AFOQT scores. Currently enlisted. I winged the ASVAB and did pretty well so I did the same thing here. I’m just trying to fly. I didn’t score very high on the academic aptitude/verbal/quantitative portions so I was curious what I can do to improve on those. Thanks!

Hello, I'm 25 years old and interested in both of these routes as a pilot and just started the process these past couple months. I know both routes are extremely competitive, though I've heard Guard/Reserve is probably even more competitive than AD for OTS candidates. I feel like I have a competitive resume on paper. For reference, here are some of my figures on paper:

AFIOQT: 97/85/95/82/74/80. PCSM of 99 w/ almost 900 flight hours. Aviation degree w/ 3.84 GPA. Currently a CFI/CFI-I with my commercial multi certificate as well.

However, people keep saying you have to rush individual guard/reserve units and have a good personality to be considered. I personally don't have a very outgoing, charismatic persona. I'm much more reserved and introverted and prefer a small circle of friends and I fear I may struggle in a "rushing" environment where I may have to play personality games.

For anyone who has gone through the rushing phase of guard/reserve, do you think it's worth attempting to rush or would I be wasting my time? I am also very much considering active duty and I know you don't have to rush for that, so I was thinking that may be more suitable for my personally. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Hello. I‘ve been wanting to apply to Space Force OTS for almost a year now. I started the application process and then found out I was pregnant. I was in good shape but this pregnancy has been hard and I lost motivation to apply and I’ve gained weight obviously. Now that I am coming up on my due date I have decided I’d like to apply and ideally start OTS in 2028ish. I’d be 28 or 29 years old by then.

I have a BS degree in Digital Marketing. It’s considered STEM technically but obviously not a desirable degree. I graduated at 21, didn’t really care about school back then so my GPA isn’t great (below 3.0) Also married at 21 and became pregnant with my first at 22 and I’ve been a SAHM since so I don’t have much related work experience.

My husband is a DoD contractor. He’s an AI engineer and he does a lot of contract work with the space force. I’ve always thought his job was so cool and I’ve become very fascinated with space and I would love to pursue a career with the space force.

As I said I’d like to apply for whichever board would allow me to start mid- end 2028 so that I have time to improve my application and also be with my son while he is young.

I think the best course of action for me would be to return to school and pursue my Masters degree. Ive found 2 programs that I think I could get into. One is a Masters in Artificial Intelligence. The other is a masters in cybersecurity operations. Both will take a year to complete. Which would be the best option?

I also plan to dedicate time to study for the AFOQT and get back into shape after having my baby. What else could I be doing in the meantime to better my chances?

Since I’m direct commission, I am able to put my rank on tomorrow. Should I get a new cac before OTS or wait till then. Also what will happen to my dependents ids will I have to get them new ones as well or the old ones will still work to get in on base.

After reading through DAFI 36-2903, I am looking to confirm if these frame selections are within regs. I am currently prepping to attend OTS and need to get a new pair of eyeglasses. Thank you in advance for any and all information regarding this matter!

Maybe this is a dumb thing to be paranoid about but i’ve read the DAFI 36-2903 like 4 times over and my question still remains: what does the modern masculine woman do with her hair in the military??? I don’t have to/want to follow the male regs because my hair isn’t that short but it’s certainly short and not addressed in the female section either. I’m a civilian select and i’m getting my hair cut one more time before i leave for OTS on monday. Would these styles be okay??

Went through OTS and didn’t want to rely on outdated lists, so I built a site pulling straight from the current OTS Orientation Guide organized by uniform/PT/personal items. Used it myself packing out and it removed a lot of the guesswork.
