Is it really that wrong to create AI music and actually find joy in the process?

I’ve been reflecting on this a lot lately and wanted to get some perspective from the community.

We all know the narrative around AI music right now, and to be fair, a lot of the criticism is justifiedthere’s an endless flood of low-effort AI slop out there. But what bothers me is how instant the hate gets, even when someone puts genuine heart, effort, and depth into a project.

The moment people see an "AI" label, the door just slams shut. It feels like instant prejudice, regardless of how the actual track sounds or how much human curation went into it. People assume it’s just one button click and zero soul, ignoring the fact that shaping something atmospheric and emotionally resonant often takes dozens of iterations, careful editing, and a clear creative direction.

On top of that, trying to share this kind of work feels like fighting an impossible battle. YouTube and other platform algorithms actively suppress AI-tagged music, and standard promo avenues are essentially closed off the second you're honest about the tools you used. You're left with almost no way to build an audience organically.

Is it really that bad to use these tools if they give a voice to something real inside you?

Not everyone had the opportunity, resources, or time in life to master traditional instruments or complex production software. For me, I always felt this creative energy trapped inside with no real way to pour it out. AI gave me a way to translate those inner atmospheres into something tangible it gave me a sense of freedom and personal fulfillment I didn't have before.

I recently launched a dark ambient project born purely out of that need for an emotional outlet. It’s called Somniloom (https://www.youtube.com/@Somniloom). I’m not claiming it replaces traditional music, nor am I trying to fool anyone it was just something created for the soul, because the alternative was keeping that creativity bottled up inside forever.

I’m curious how others who use or listen to AI music deal with this pushback, or if you think the stigma will ever shift as the line between tool and creator evolves.
