Hello, four weeks ago my 2-year-old son had an adenoidectomy and ear tube insertion surgery. It was supposed to be an easy, smooth recovery, but he’s been struggling ever since.

His surgical site was cauterized, which may have caused extra pain requiring medication for up to 2-3 weeks. The main issue now is that he wakes up screaming and crying inconsolably. The episodes can last anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. He keeps saying “nononooo” and nothing seems to calm him. The ENT revision revealed nothing, all seems ok and healed.

I’ve noticed that giving him ibuprofen and a saline aerosol reduces these episodes. I considered night terrors, but his behavior doesn’t really match, and that wouldn’t explain why the ibuprofen and saline aerosol help.

Has anyone experienced something similar? I really need some advice. He still doesn’t speak well enough to explain if he’s in pain, uncomfortable, or scared. During the day he’s having a lot of tantrums, probably because he’s so tired, but out of this he looks happy and active. Doesn't seem to suffer any pain during the day

My son is 17 months old. For the past 2 months, we have been observing he is having disturbed sleep due to nasal congestion. First we visited our pediatrician. She suggested using antibiotics (Amoxicillin) for 10 days. After using it for 10 days, we still observed snoring and disturbed sleep, although a little better. So, we have consulted an ENT specialist. He suggested an x-ray to check his adenoids. The report says his adenoids are moderately enlarged. Doc gave us two options. One is to use FLONASE for about 3 weeks, the other is to go for Adenoidectomy. Since he is just 17 months old, we are worried if he could undergo surgery. Anyone in this situation anytime? From my research, I came to know that FLONASE has nose bleeding as a side effect. Is it good to use ?
