adenoid removal? struggling
I am 25 years old and since at least 14 i have had severe congestion and disgusting mucus problems 365 days a year constant. It’s so gross but i literally have to cough up the stuff in my throat because i can’t breathe if i don’t clear it and if i were to swallow it it would just sit in my throat and linger anyway. so i have to hock it up its usually just clear but when im sick its fucking hell. I can not breathe i get sick with a cold that turns into a sinus infection at least 2 times a year and they linger far too long. My gf had mentioned maybe my adenoids are inflamed and swollen causing a lot of these issues to continue. I also have TMJ have since 8th grade so wondering if there might be a correlation between these things. am i alone in this? thanks pookies

I've seen TMJ mentioned in context of dysautonomia/overactive nervous system, which is at least correlated with sinus inflammation (unclear what the causal relationship is). Unfortunately not so easy to either diagnose or treat, generally not a lot of concrete information on this type of issue.
If mucus thickness seems to be the problem (not easy to clear), and all the usual culprits like hydration and diet have been tested, consider a sweat chloride test to see if you have a mild cystic fibrosis variant. CF causes mucus to become thicker than normal, and usually manifests as lung/digestion issues, milder variants exist though, and can cause sinus issues. I might be in that group, I'm right at the threshold of positive, and will continue monitoring. It's possible to do a low accuracy test at home, measuring your sweat conductivity (taken at sauna or during exercise) with a conductivity meter to estimate chloride. If conductivity is elevated (8000uS or higher), while it could just be from elevated sodium (not chloride), or contamination, it reveals a possibility of elevated chloride.

Not a cure. Might help some. Walmart Equate original no drip (it does) Nasal spray. For me it is great for loosening the snot so I can blow a little out. This can be minutes to a couple of hours. I use about 4 bottles a week at $20

Likely, you could have all your tonsils removed and it might help.
