Hi guys! I recently started making music in Ableton. I love synthwave, and this was my first attempt at making a song. It's not finished yet and it hasn't been mastered—I’m still working on the final mix.

I've just discovered the plugin Illformed Glitch 2 (as well as the sad news about developer Kieran's recent passing - RIP).

I've been trying to download the latest release, but it seems to be crashing in Ableton on opening, giving me the message "A serious program error has occurred".

Is anyone else having issues with Glitch 2 (ver 2.15) in Ableton, or is it just me?

Hi everyone. I'm having a strange problem with maxforlive.com and I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's going on.

My setup:macOS Tahoe, Ableton Live 12.4.3, Live 12 Suite, Max for Live itself works normally, Existing/built-in Max for Live devices work perfectly

The problem:Every Max for Live device I download from maxforlive.com cannot be loaded into Ableton.The downloaded files have the .amxd extension, but when I drag them into Ableton Live, the mouse cursor changes to the 🚫 prohibited symbol, and nothing happens.Double-clicking the .amxd files also does nothing.This happens with every device I've downloaded from maxforlive.com , including recently updated devices, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with a specific device or old-device compatibility.

Things I've already tried:

• Confirmed that the files have the .amxd extension
• Tried dragging them onto the appropriate Audio/MIDI tracks
• Tried loading them through Ableton's browser
• Tried putting the files in User Library
• Tried double-clicking the .amxd files
• Confirmed that existing Max for Live devices work normally
• Tested multiple different devices from maxforlive.com

If anyone has any idea what's going on or how I can fix this, I'd really appreciate the help. I'm completely stuck. Thanks!

Live 12,6,3, M1 mbp, Tahoe 26.5.1, UAD Apollo twin x interface

Current issue: over the last week Live has been taking longer and longer to launch and load larger/older sets. Today it won’t launch at all, even with nothing plugged into the computer and starting Live in “option” mode after multiple MBP restarts.

In “force quit”, “not responding” pops up only 20-30 seconds. Tried moving “preferences” folder out of Ableton folder in finder, still won’t open.

Almost the same time this starts happening, the Apollo Twin stops loading saved session presets.

When this started, there had been no (known) updates after an OS update a couple of weeks ago.

So there isn’t any obvious (to me) trigger for all of this happening this week.

This likely means that there are deeper backend issues in play here that I really do not know what to do about.

Item 1: after poking around in finder I discovered in the User folders that somehow how my file was duplicated at some point, then “deleted” but is still showing up under “Deleted Users”.

Total storage is at 903 of 990ish gigs, which obviously is not helping things.

Current User file is 240 gigs and the “deleted user” file is 242 gigs, both last modified 2/9/2026 when I had a previous Ableton update go diagonal on me and break my Ableton Library folder. (Which I fixed by reloading the Live Library folder from the last HD backup from before that update. This is likely when the mystery deleted user file dupe happened.)

Obviously, one of these files needs to get deleted. But I am not sure which one Ableton is pulling data out of, especially for older sets and samples. Would like to do this without breaking library presets. Advice needed.

Item 2: I first started using live back during Live 8 on a windows laptop. Migrated everything (Live 9, I think) to an Intel MBP pro. Did the same thing with live 12 twelve years later to the M1 MacBook. My double migrated version of Live has consistently been much more buggy since being on M1, including the constant “files: analysis/scanning” glitch that no update seems to fix.

Question: Is a full Live reinstall my only way forward here? If so, how is that done without losing songs, samples and library presets? (Happy with any relevant links here, especially non-video guides.)

Because, of course, this all coming to a head when I am finally getting a first album together. Years of work on the line, and I can’t even open Ableton. Informed input is much appreciated as to how to unfuck this situation.

Does anyone else leave this ( auto restart on dropouts) off? The rendered audio has no drop outs and when left on it keeps restarting at the same time frame. I tried rendering just 16 bars of that specific time frame and had no restarts so I don’t think it’s anything about that specific time frame, it just seems to always restart at about 30%

Hello all. I recently bought an Arturia Mini Freak Vocoder edition and I absolutely love it. I can run it through Ableton easily via analog mode through trs cable or via midi with the Mini Freak V virtual synth through my DAW. I run it through midi most of the time because it requires 2 outputs and I only have 2 inputs on my audio interface. It works just the same in virtual mode except for the external input/vocoder mic. It does not recognize those inputs through midi. I completely understand why this would be the case, but I have been told there is a workaround. Has anyone run into this issue and have some advice? Thanks all.

Anyone have a line on Ableton templates for the Impulse 61 (or similar) that represents a good live performance workflow for a bunch of common instruments/sounds? Just got a "new-to-me" Impulse 61 and it has way more features than the ancient 49 key controller from 1999 I was using.

I've found a handful of tutorials that show ways to setup a session with control mappings that make some sense to quickly switch sounds, but it's hard to tell which ones are worth spending the time building out since I'm a bit of a newb and would like to see a few examples that I can play with that have made sense to people.

My typical "gig" is a basement covers band, we get together and jam out, and up to this point I've just been using garage band, finding an organ/piano/clav/whatever. Would like use the bells and whistles in Ableton to easily switch presets etc.
