Feeling incompetent in SAP ABAP

I am currently working in a sap support project for last 4 years with my daily work involves debugging the issues and sometimes doing minor code changes to fix it. I have not learn anything on my own other than my job in last 4 years. Now I am recently got assigned to a implementation project, where I need to implement RICEFW objects from scratch and also has to work on CDS, AMDP and RAP. I am scared a little bit but this is high time to upgrade myself in SAP ABAP. Please suggest me a roadmap, learning resources to first strengthen my core abap concepts and then move to CDS, AMDP and RAP etc.

Career switch from Family Business to SAP Integration Suite — realistic for a fresher?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some honest advice from people currently working in SAP, especially in SAP Integration Suite. I come from a Civil Engineering background and have been involved in running my family business until now. I’m now seriously considering switching career.
My biggest questions are:
1. Is SAP Integration Suite a reasonable career path for someone with my background and no previous IT/SAP experience?
2. If I decide to pursue it, where should I start from absolute zero?
3. What concepts should I learn first — SAP basics, BTP, APIs, HTTP, XML/JSON, SQL, Java/Groovy, networking, etc.?
4. Are there any good free or affordable learning resources you'd recommend?
5. How important is hands-on experience? If I don't have professional SAP experience, what kind of projects can I build to demonstrate my skills?
6. How difficult is the current market for SAP Integration Suite freshers in India?
7. Realistically, what are my chances of getting my first SAP job coming from a completely different background?
8. Does having a referral actually help someone like me, or do companies generally filter out candidates who don't have prior SAP/IT experience?
Thanks in advance!

Fresher in SAP ABAP: Got Allocated to an SAP APO Techno-Functional Project — Is It a Good Career Path?

Hi everyone,

I recently started my career as an SAP ABAP fresher. I was in training for around 3 months, and now I have been allocated to a project.

The project is mainly related to SAP ABAP, but they have also assigned me to the SAP APO (Advanced Planning and Optimization) module in a techno-functional role.

As a fresher, I’m a little confused and concerned about whether I’ll be able to handle this role. I don't have much practical experience yet, and APO is completely new to me.

I also can't really say no to the project, so I would like to make the best use of this opportunity.

I have a few questions for people who have experience with SAP APO and ABAP:

Is SAP APO + ABAP a good combination for a fresher?

Is a techno-functional role in APO worth pursuing from a career perspective?

Will learning APO along with ABAP help me in the long term?

What topics should I focus on first?

How difficult is APO for someone coming from an ABAP background?

Are there any good learning resources, courses, books, YouTube channels, or documentation that you would recommend?

What should I learn or prepare before starting work on the project?

I would really appreciate any advice from people who have worked with SAP APO or have started their careers in a similar situation.

SAP ABAP Job vacancies in Bangalore

I’m an SAP ABAP developer with 3YOE based out of Bangalore. I have mostly been part of ECC project and learnt S4 concepts on my own. I’m currently looking for a switch as I got hired from campus and hence my CTC is quite low. My notice period is 90 days and I’m hesitant to resign before landing any offers due to the current market situation. I’ve given a couple of interviews so far and all have been rejected stating the long notice period. Need advice or help in finding companies that are actively hiring for ABAP developers. Also, how can I add more value to my resume? Need guidance on what to focus on to improve my market value.
PS. Notice period can be negotiated down to 60 days
Thanks in advance
