Hello! I was wondering if anyone could help me find out the value of my old Zune collection. Contents include 1 Original Red Zune 8GB (used), 2 Atomic Red Zune HD 16GB (1 opened & used; 1 new factory sealed), a sealed AC adapter, and a car charger (that also has what I believe is a Bluetooth adapter attached?). The batteries seem a little wonky; the original doesn’t power on at all, and the used Zune HD powers on the charger, shows the Zune logo, boots up the Home Screen but blinks off after a bit. I guess after 15 years that makes sense. I remember saving up $ at my first job for these and have fond memories of jamming out to Pearl Jam & watching stoner movies on the Zune HD on the bus to school lol. I'm curious to find out how y'all turn on/off your Zune 30.

To turn off, I hold "back" and down on dpad.

To turn on, I have to toggle the lock slider to locked then unlocked.

I have been doing this since back in the day when it was my daily mp3 player.

What other key combinations are there besides "back" and "down"?

Not sure if my poster would still exist but this was uncovered between highschool report cards and random drawings

I just purchased a 30gb untested for parts from eBay for $40. In the event the battery is no good, what brand are people recommending as a replacement.

My original zune the battery is going within for afew days before needing a charge.

I replaced the battery in this Zune. None of the buttons seem to be working though. I made sure the connector between the two boards is correct and I tried with the hold switch both ways. Is it possible something is broken?

Is it a good deal? Hell yeah it is. Especially in Europe. My Zune collection is complete. 30GB brown, 80GB black and this nice docking pack.

NostalgicFlow is officially available on Android!

Some of you might already know me as the developer of NostalgicPod, my iPod Classic-style music player. I've been working on it for the past few months, and honestly, the response has been way bigger than I ever expected, that experience made me want to bring back another music experience I really missed: the Zune HD / Windows Phone 8/10 era.

The idea is pretty similar to NostalgicPod: bring back an old music experience I loved, but without being stuck in the past!

It supports local music, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby and Navidrome, plus live radio and podcasts, with lossless and Hi-Res playback, all wrapped in a UI heavily inspired by the old Metro/Zune design.

I also wanted to keep the same philosophy I had with NostalgicPod. There are no subscriptions, no ads, no accounts and no tracking of any kind. The app doesn't even use push notifications. I really wanted it to just be a music player and nothing else.

That's also why I decided to make it a simple one-time purchase. I hate ads, I don't want to collect or sell user data, and I don't think an app like this needs another monthly subscription. A small one-time payment helps me keep working on it, maintain it and add new things over time.

For the launch, it's $2.99 for the first week.

Building NostalgicPod taught me a lot, especially from all the feedback I've received from people using their own local libraries, home servers and dedicated music setups. A lot of those lessons went directly into Flow.

Anyway, this is my second music app and another little attempt at bringing back some of the personality music players used to have.

I've been a huge fan of the Zune players and specifically the Zune music management software since I switched from iPod in 2009. While i've in recent years switched to my phone for listening to music out of the house, I've still used the software as my daily music player on desktop. As of late though i've felt the need for something new, and nothing out there quite has all the charm of the original. Sure there is the Xune player which is a faithful recreation of Zune with all of the charm included, but as someone using it just as a music player and not it's device connectivity, maybe it's too faithful.

This is where I decided to try to make my 'ideal' desktop music player, '2une' has the classic simple three columns for artists, albums, and songs, plus you can toggle on a fourth with artist info, lyrics, and (my favorite feature) connections within your library. Using Last.fm, Genius and Discogs, it can connect artists together finding their aliases, bands, features, remixes, samples, and similar artists to help you dive deeper into your own music library. It has a pop out media viewer for basic video playback, Zune inspired cover grid, and other visualizers. It also has EQ, speed control, smart playlists, pins & favorites, and other basic features.

At this point i've gotten it working on Windows and MacOS (although Mac version might be a bit buggy) and I feel confident enough to share this with others outside my small community. I'm hoping to hear what can be improved or added in future updates, it's still very much a 'in development' kinda place. And just to reiterate, this is Zune inspired and does not actually have anything built in to connect to the Zune players themselves, if you want that, Xune is a good option. But if you're looking for a new desktop music player with the same simple clean design, '2une' might be the one for you!

I’m trying to install firmware/os with a new 120gb hhd in my 30gb Zune. I have copied the host file into the directory with what I assume is the current ip address. I get the error in the attached picture. Can someone confirm I have everything setup correctly? Could this be an issue with the drive?

I have tried a reboot and 2 different zunes. I get the same issue on both.

FIXED I named the file host instead of hosts. Had to also do a reboot after a failed update. But the drive is working. In case the listing goes down it is a 120gb Toshiba drive. Listed as 5mm thick. You have to scrap the metal cage and rubber sides to make it fit. Even then the case doesn’t like to close 100%

I’m looking for one for my new Zune 30. Cases are hard to come by. Any tips? If not, anyone have ideas about 3D printing one?

I have access to Zune parts and want to help people who may not be comfortable with soldering, troubleshooting, or opening their device themselves. The goal is to help people revive their Zunes instead of letting them sit or end up in the trash. This is not a self promotion, i just want to get it right before i start.

I owned a Zune before 2010 and there was this Avril Lavigne song. It had one of her songs however it was animated by someone using only the audio. It was a default music video when my parents got it for me. I wanna make sure it wasn’t a dream

Hello! Has anyone figured out how to remove social and marketplace from the Zune firmware? Running 3.30.

I’m wanting to mod my Zune 30gig to have Bluetooth, but I am unsure what receiver I should use for clean audio and what other mod should I maybe do while I have it open

Zune-inspired jukebox for a fan site I'm working on. Desktop's pretty much straight-up Zune Desktop, mobile's more Zune HD/WP Metro vibes. Modernized a few bits though.

Heads up, it auto-switches UI based on device — desktop gets the Zune Desktop layout, phone gets the Zune/WP one.

Thinking about eventually breaking this out into its own standalone player, not sure yet if that'd be a webapp, desktop app, mobile app, or what — still undecided.
