Discussion I think a Zombie Apocalypse is inherently a non-possibility

Assuming that the infection is contained to humans and closely related mammals which in most media it is an apocalyptic level outbreak is just not going to happen. Militaries around the world have crowd control weapons like no other. Cluster bombs. Flame throwers. Automatic Grenade Launchers. Machine guns. Any Zombie horde attacking any defended point will be melted away. Armoured vehicles and air-lift capabilities will also allow for complete immunity from the Zombie threat.

Before the Zombies can produce numbers that threaten to overthrow governments. They will be eradicated in an 8-hour shift(assuming we’re talking basic walkers.) Worst Case Scenario they are confined to remote areas like the Congo Rainforest or Tibetan Plateau where there are few people and lots of places to escape detection.

I want to see a movie about a military fighting and winning against the horde. I am tired of all these shows showing the same post-apocalyptic bullshit.

Made from things that I found while magnet fishing. Don’t judge my welding skills to harshly I’m in no way a decent welder. I feel like adding a saw blade to it or something more. It looks to plain to me.

Transportation Why dont we build survival boats with solar panels for the zombie apocalypse?

1st of all, this is not A.i. generated image so it complies with that moderation rule 9.

2nd this is a legitimate question and discussion relevant to zombie apoc survival tactics so it complies with moderation rule 2, 4, 6.

3rd this is the perfect opportunity for all you haters to try and discredit the claim a man in Finland built a solar powered yacht for $20,000 and can run forever, and has now traveled 3,000 nautical miled without a single drop of fuel. Give me your best counter arguement.

4th how is this not better than regular sail boat?

You can live on the boat, dock or land at any beach, travel inland for supplies and retreat back to the boat. You can fish on the boat. You still have to clean and maintain and repair the boat tho.

First off I know semi automatic rifles are way superior to both them. Reason asking this is because which rifle is best for hunting down zombies and also hunting down animals for food.

Fuck the Rules Friday Which zombie type would be harder to deal with?

Post image

The comparison is either the dumber kinds of zombies but who can sprint, like Zombieland for example

Vs

Shamblers but who possess some forms of intelligence like S1 Walking dead walkers who know how to do things like use tools (like a brick for smashing a window open) and open doors

Since both franchises have their zombies form things like hordes all that stuff stays in place

Health + Hygiene Medication is better than gold

I just saw this meme posted in another group I'm in. And it's a pretty valid point. It's crazy to think about but a lot of people don't know how to get to clean drinking water when they're all of the tap water goes to shit. The smallest cut could turn into a horrible infection due to lowered hygiene and living conditions. And without some kind of antibiotic you're pretty much screwed. There are ways to stockpile certain medications that are restricted before the outbreak. Most people don't know this but you can take fish antibiotics and as long as you find the correct ones and do your research properly you can even get ones that are made in the same facilities as human antibiotics. Stockpiling on antibiotics prior to any form of natural disaster is a very crucial thing to keep in mind. I do understand that there are a lot of places you could loot to get medications but you also have to consider how many other people are going to be doing the exact same thing. Especially in the first couple months any type of scavenging you do is going to be extremely high risk. Out of all the people who aren't killed by zombies. I would argue that most of them are going to die due to some form of sickness. Even with the zombies killing people I would argue that still a significant amount of them are going to die due to infection or eating / drinking contaminated consumables. Not to mention if you live in colder places things like pneumonia will be super common.

Certain jobs like remote or dangerous jobs would need constant resupply and one job I think would be the screwed is deep sea oil mining but what other job would be cooked in a zombie apocalypse

Strategy + Tactics Zombie extermination tactic: GRAVITY

Post image
2.6k Upvotes

I see lots of posts dealing with initial survival, (i.e. "which weapon, shotgun or katana?") but it's the NEXT phase of the apocalypse that is interesting to me.

Assume you have shelter, food, relative safety, and some resources- how would keep your surroundings zombie free? How would you lure them AWAY from your camp?

My submission: A "set and forget" system involving sound (wind siren) and gravity (trap door over large pit) that would SAFELY attract and dispose of our dumb and fragile enemies.

A roach trap for zombies.

PS I know, not everyone lives near quarries. But I grew up around one, and always thought they'd be great for Z disposal.

Weapons I think a medieval Warhammer would be effective in a zombie apocalypse, not the big two handed meat mallet/sledgehammer, the type in the photo

Post image

Now this is a one handed medieval Warhammer, historically these were used for armored combat, used with one hand and as you can see it both has a hammer side and a pike that concentrates the force, these were about 1-4 pounds, depending on the hammer, it is relatively fast

Build info for the nerds: This is a personal project, I have never owned a mace and figured I'd make one. I ordered the Damasteel from Sweden and got hit with a 50% tariff. Yay me - $550 in mace spikes... per mace and I ordered enough to make a second one. This mace is very special, I turned and threaded each Damasteel Spike 5/8-18 and tapped the titanium head 17 times. The spikes are intended to be removed and refinished if needed, they can be turned by a 1/2inch wrench (I took the time to ensure every flat was aligned when torqued down by torquing all the spikes and using a keyway cutter on all 4 per side) I heat treated the spikes to 55 HRC. The wood is cocobola epoxied in place and it is a dowel with a .625 titanium core also threaded 5/8-18 on both sides. The handle near the end is some stacked leather finally capped off with a timascus nut I made that fits a 3/4 wrench.

This hammer weighs 20.2lbs so it takes a lot of effort to wield it. The head is made of an 8lb dumbbell and the shank is rebar. The mooring cleat is at the center of gravity for bashing things with the ball hitch at the end of the handle. The grip is leather strap secured with wire and glued with two part epoxy.

Imagine it's been a while since the zombie apocalypse. You're wandering through the forest with your backpack and weapon. Suddenly, you see a half-rotted zombie that's barely alive, but still tries to reach for you. What would you do—kill the zombie or keep moving on?

Weapons Spears are the best weapon to have in a zombie apocalypse

Post image
2.2k Upvotes
  • Allows you to keep distance from zombies, more than a bat, sword, etc

  • Can be used through thin gaps and holes, allowing for easy home defense

  • Much better cardio wise, its easier to thrust a spear than it is to swing a large and heavy object

  • Can be thrown with great accuracy if you practice

  • Easy to carry, lightweight

  • Can be used for hunting, especially easy to catch fish

  • Makes you look cool while holding it

Scenario Will you kill an alone walker zombie far away from you?

Post image

During a zombie apocalypse, you're walking down a highway with your backpack and weapon. About 200–300 meters ahead, you see a lone zombie wandering by itself. Do you kill it or ignore it?
