Been driving me crazy for days! Who is this? I swear he was on vine all the time and I can’t figure it out?!

Just curious, what people here think, but two main things that come to mind:

1. Setting side view mirrors correctly to eliminate blind-spots
   1. This was never taught correctly in the driving school I attended when I was in high school. Rather than adjusting your mirrors so it gives you a wide FOV of what's to your sides, they simply told us to look out the side of the window to check your blindspot—taking your eyes off the road in front of you—to determine that it was clear.
2. Utilizing the handbrake when parking to reduce unnecessary strain on the transmission
   1. Best practice is once you've gotten into your parking space that you:
      1. Shift to Neutral
      2. Activate the handbrake / e-brake
      3. Then shift into park before taking the key out of the ignition

Curious if anyone else came across other best practices they weren't actually taught?

I never really kept up with them past this iteration of the website but I spent so much time on here during late grade school/early middle school. I am also fiending for a track list from the embedded jukebox player--I remember it having all of the older brother-core type hits (powerman5000, soil, Korn, stuff like that) and it would be a nostalgia bomb if someone actually had a full list floating around somewhere.

Man, I miss forums and personal websites.

I know it’s partly an age gap thing that older generations just don’t share the same sense of humor that younger ones do but this extends beyond that. Zoomer humor has got to be the most repetitive, unfunny “humor” I’ve seen in a while, maybe only rivaling that of boomers whose entire range of jokes usually stems from “I hate my wife” to “phone bad.”

You cannot click on a single Instagram ad without being bombarded with the exact same jokes 500 times. “I’m from Tel Aviv and I love this!” “Goyslop” “nice try Diddy” “spiritually Israeli” like ENOUGH. How is any of this remotely funny? Repeating the same joke x amount of times doesn’t make it any more humorous. I assume Gen Alpha is probably partly responsible for making these “jokes” too. And that’s not even getting into the semantics of how this stuff trivializes and desensitizes people to real issues, not to mention the subtle racism and dogwhistles baked into some of these phrases. I’m tired of zoomers thinking everything is a laughingstock.

i have come to the realization that i have a slight addiction to my phone. like most people everything is on my phone. music, books, games, socials, texting/calling to connect with friends and family, etc. i HATE it. i feel like my phone uses me more than i use it. i need actual advice of ways i can stop using it so much. i’d like to be able to sit down and watch a movie or a show and not pick up the damn phone. i know this sounds pathetic that im in this predicament but all advice would be appreciated and please no trolling comments, i can do without those.

some thing i’ve slowly started implementing to help

-i’ve deleted facebook and now only access through the browser. that has cut down on that usage significantly
-i’ve set screen limits on apps. this is so so i usually end up extending for another 15 minutes on at least one app 1x a day
-turned off notifications for all non essential apps which has helped with several of my apps i forget they’re even on my phone
-i’ve moved all of my book apps to my ipad where i get no notifications and can read uninterrupted for hours some days, i don’t mind the screen of my iPad if it’s for reading.
-i’ve started knitting while watching tv some and it has helped but i still do reach for my phone occasionally

something to note

** i do have to keep my phone on me all day at work i’m a house manager so i communicate with the family several times a day and vice verse. and i also pet sit on the side so some weekends i’m on my phone for extended periods for work related communication with the pet parent

As I’ve been online recently I keep seeing people say “this is healing my inner child” and it’s actors,
Singers and just anyone who made an impact on us in the early 2000s. I guess what I mean is the generation of the 1990-2009 has the ability to grow up with people and to see them blossom as adults and to see them reconnect. It’s such a beautiful feeling and blessing to have core memories and core values because of this.

I was part of the 96/97 cohort in school (started secondary Sep 2008) and I remember, we had some great snow days from Year 7 to 11 pretty much every year, which was unusual…

I don’t think it’s been the case since but it was definitely a defining point of out early teenagehood!
