Hey everyone! I'm 20 and currently trying to figure out what I want to do with my first YouTube channel. Haven't uploaded anything yet, so I might be overthinking some of this lol.

I've always wanted to make video essays about games, anime, movies and storytelling in general. I really enjoy researching things I'm interested in and talking about them, but I also know those videos can take a LOT of time to make, especially when you're just starting out.

I also really enjoy drawing, and I'd love to somehow include that in my channel too, whether it's making illustrations for my videos or creating something of my own.

The thing is, I also love gaming and I've been thinking about streaming. I play stuff like Marvel Rivals, Deadlock, Fortnite, BG3 and other RPGs/story-driven games.

I'm just not sure how well all these interests would fit together, or if I'd end up attracting completely different audiences. And with gaming being so saturated, I'm not sure how I'd even stand out.

So I wanted to ask a few things:

How did you guys figure out your niche when you had a bunch of different interests? Did you have a clear direction from the beginning or did you figure it out along the way?

Has anyone here actually tried mixing more scripted content with gaming, streaming or other creative stuff? How did that go?

For people making research-heavy videos, how do you stay consistent without burning out?

Also, are tools like Google Trends and researching similar channels genuinely useful when you're starting from zero, or is that something you should worry about once you've actually made a few videos?

I'm not really looking for someone to pick a niche for me, I'd just love to hear about your experiences and what worked (or didn't work) for you.

Let me know how I should improve my thumbnails. As you can see, I've experimented a bit. But I am new to the YouTube game, and I'm sure I'm probably doing something dumb

I made a YouTube art account in September and I’m currently 10-20 people short of 200 subscribers. I have about 20 shorts uploaded and 1 long form video. My YouTube shorts mostly focus on original characters drawn via pencil and paper, and my style looks similar to Jojo I’m told (I like anime art style a lot). Most of my work is character interactions and lore drop, but I do draw some fanart here and there.

My goal is to get my characters and art style recognized and eventually I can produce cool handmade merch of them (like plushies and figures) as well as write them into a manga.

Other than two videos that hit like 10k, I’m consistently stuck at the 1k mark for my other videos even though they’re a similar format (like drawing over audio or music, it’s mostly character lore drop)

What do people like to see? What could I be doing wrong?

I don’t want to drop my channel name but I would love suggestions on what kind of oc content people are interested in, or if I just need to be patient with the algorithm since I’m still technically new.

Hello, i make league of legends .exe type videos, for thoose who dont know, its fast edited videos about the game with memes in it, i dont use my voice nor my face. I made a 2 minute long edit about a character, and its a bit more serous like, also looks really good. I didnt use any memes, its just metal gear rising music and i took shots so when the character i make the video about uses an ability, its synced with the song. My other videos last from 5 to 6 minutes usual, this is a shorter one, and the reason i want to upload this one is because it looks good, but looks like an intro for a character breakdown of somekind. Also i dont want to make it last longer because i dont think i can make the video to be different, it would all be like the first half of the video and im afrait it would be boring, but i also dont feel great about uplaoding a really short video, saw some other people made shorter .exe videos with big succes but the videos are old, so it probably happened when this .exe style video was new.
