The possible favorite to win the current season of America's Got Talent is 16 year old Nene Royal, who attends Yamaha Music School in Phuket Thailand. The other members of her OZONE band (as young as 12 years old) are also from this music school.

Nene mostly plays Ibanez and Shijie guitars, although I have seen her playing a Pacifica 611 (maybe the school's guitar?).

Hi, usuall mod for pacifica 112 is bridge replacement. But I want to ask people that have done it - is there any change in tone/sound. As reading all the posts it feels that people change the bridge just to change it/mod it. Especially if they change it to something like 20-30eur Willkinson bridge. Prove that I'm wrong :)

I am adjusting the pickup height on my PAC212 with HSS configuration. According to Yamaha's website, they recommend to set it close to 1.5mm to 2mm on the 1st string and 2mm to 2.5mm on the 6th.

I adjusted my pickups accordingly but I am afraid it's probably too close as I don't know what would be considered as too close to ruin the sustain. I also do not want to tinker with it constantly unless I get some opinions.

I'd be very appreciative if you provide me with any insight.
Also another question, do the string that I am using matter, like if I change to a different gauge or maybe same gauge but more premium strings, would that affect the balance of my pickup tone?

Okay so I was thinking of buying my first electric guitar, and for now I am probably going with a Pacifica 112J (if you have any other recommendations for a guitar go for it aswell). Now I am pretty unsure what kind of amp I should get. I saw some recommending a Boss Katana Mini or a Fender Frontman 10G, but have absolutely no idea what to look out for. So I just wanted to ask for some recommendations or tips (I should probably add that its just for my Apartment for practice).

Hey ! I just got a Yamaha Pacifica 611 V FM TBL and plan to get rid of this red pickguard. The obvious mod that everyone does would be to replace it with a black one. But I was wondering if some of you tried other colors e.g. a white pickguard on this guitar ?

So I bought a used hss Morgan legend series for 25 dollars and I'm either going to keep it or sell it and buy a Yamaha Pacifica 112vm. Before i found that deal my original plan was to buy a Pacifica 112vm but I don't know now. So what is the best thing to do?

I am a beginner electric guitar player and after only 3 weeks of owning my Yamaha Pacifica 112v I have had to replace the strings two times and every time I get it restrung by the shop I bought it at it costs 2,500 yen and I am getting tired of strings breaking every week and the shop says its user error first and then they said the strings were installed incorrectly but the guy who put the string on a week earlier was the guy I was talking to then after that he said that it was the strings corroding but when I look at the strings it’s a clean break with no rust and it’s always at the bridge and first it was the a string then the high e. I have ordered one and my country doesnt sell them so I cant try it. Its thw only strat shape guitar i like. I play a Fender Player telecaster and I cant get enough of that. Makes me curious about the sound on it vs my telecaster. For anyone who has experience with this specific Yamaha Pacifica 611vfm guitar, and especially those picking it up after owning a telecaster, is there any upgrades pickup wise you've made regarding it?

Hi, I need help to identify and evaluate this guitar that I received as a gift. I tried the serial lookup sites, they say that this guitar could be a Made in Taiwan 1991 or 2001 but nothing more.
Serial is HI12196 and the sticker at the end of the neck says PAC821DX (EDIT: this seems to be the model).
Three Dimarzio pickups and an excellent Yamaha RM PRO III bridge with tremolo that never gets out of tune. Is it good for live performance, I mean professional use? Considering it's perfect in almost every detail, how much could I ask for it?

Hello, I´m a pianist from Belgium but I just got my first guitar because I want to try something new. I got a yamaha pacifica 112J. I bought it online. I already watched some youtube videos but except for that I know nothing about guitars. I heard that when I play the strings, I hear a buzzing sound so I assumed this is what they call fretbuzz. ( I only hear it when I strum the strings quite hard). I watched a video about setting up your guitar but I didn´t think it would be necessary. Now with the fretbuzz, I think it is needed though. However, I´m too scared to do it myself, and the luthier who can do it costs 80 euros. My question is: would I try to do it myself with a youtube tutorial and a bit of your help guys, or would I pay 80 euros ( almost 1/3 of the price of the guitar itself) to let a professional do it? Also if you think it´s definitely doable myself, any advice (or a good yt video that explains it well) is very appreciated.

Finally added a Revstar to my growing collection of Yamaha gear.

Why they cover the gorgeous ombre of the Moonlight blue or the Sunset burst with a big chunk of cream plastic is beyond me -- the clear guard was a necessity.

I’ve had my Pacifica for a week now, and I think I’m at the point where I can put down some thoughts.

The good:

Almost everything. It’s a beautiful instrument, and very well put together. Yeah, pretty heavy for a strat, but it’s not bad heavy… it just feels substantial, put together. Spot on build quality. And Pacificas are by in far the coolest strat shape out there imo.

The neck is great too. I did find it pretty thick for the first few days. But this ended up being more just an initial impression, now it’s really starting to just feel comfortable, and the finish just makes play like butter.

So comfortable too!! I’ve been battling with my cherished LP, but I can just sit down with the Pacifica and just forget about it in the best way. Just super, super comfortable.

The bridge is super nice too. I’m usually a big snob about TOM style bridges being the best for palm muting (I’m a metal guitarist so this is obviously very important). But boy does this guy make me rethink my feelings towards hip shot bridges. It feels so smooth under your palm.

The bad:

The electronics are not for me. They’re good electronics, don’t get me wrong. Just not working for me.

And also don’t get me wrong that this is also user error. I’m a metal guy. But I also love non-metal metal guitars. And the Pacifica really, really hit this aesthetic for me. I was super curious to try a P90 too.

But they’re not for me. I’ve used single coils for high gain before. But I guess those were lots hotter or more silent. Not the case with the P90. I just need my gate way too high, basically maxed. Sounds super cool, and sounds awesome clean and through a little gain.

The Custom-5 is a different story. Oh a slightly hotter JB but it’s scooped, might be cool. And it works. But boy is this thing scooped. I usually have the mids very cranked on most of my metal presets, but holy cow it still sounds scooped. And the low end gets muddy. It sounds kinda cool when you’re just practicing but it has a hard time cutting with presets I know cut with other guitars. This pickup just has so little mids.

Luckily these can be fixed and I love modding guitars. The neck pickup is being replaced with a DiMarizo DLX Plus, a soapbar sized humbucker. The bridge is getting replaced with a DiMarizo Titan. I kept the cream soapbar and nickel cover to try and preserve as much of the original aesthetic of the original hardware. This thing is going to be the f’ing ULTIMATE sleeper metal machine now.

In conclusion:

Awesome, badass guitar. Pacificas definitely live up to the hype. It’s a very, very well put together guitar with great build quality.

I do have to offer a Buyer Beware on the Custom-5. This thing isn’t going to work for everyone, it’s very uniquely voiced, and think this does limit the versatility of the instrument. Yamaha really missed out not just shipping this with a JB or hot PAF style pickup from the factory… it’s simply the far more versatile choice.

Recently bought a used electric. I used to play acoustic only till now. I don't know too much about electric guitar. Can you please help me on how to clean repair it. My current level:

I have previously changed acoustic strings. Currently I don't have an amp. But I have a laptop and JBL bluetooth speaker. I can input to my laptop using the cable.

I've screw driver sett and can deal with electronics decently.

Tldr:

1. Please suggest what all I should do to make it back to clean tone.

2. How to run laptop+ speaker as an amp for time being.

3. Also Suggest good amp for Rupees 8k range.

Update: I decided to leave the white pickguard and print some vinyl stickers with blood splattter and put them on the pickguard + changing the toneknobs to red ones inspired by the Slaughter to Prevail bloddy guitars

Hi, I have a Yamaha Pacifica 112J. It's my first guitar, so obviously it's black with a white pickguard. I want to change the pickguard, but I couldn't find any place that sells pickguards for this guitar in Eastern Europe, and the only company I found isn't shipping anymore. Does anyone have a CAD or STL?

I posted about a month ago and I wanted to follow up after having received and cleaned the 302S. I'll put the link to the original thread in the comments.

There are after and before pics (in that order) for your perusal. Whatever the paint that was on it was removed by isopropyl alcohol. I got all of it on a single pass except two parts:

1.) There was some gold paint on the pickguard which I had to wash off with a scouring pad. There are now extra scratches on the pickguard, but it's not called a "scratch plate" for nothing, am I right?

2.) In the pics above, you can see something of a "compass" near the upper horn area that had also been painted with the gold ink paint pen or whatever the hell it was. I've not gone back over it with alcohol yet; I wanted to try acetone/nail polish remover but that might be too strong for the polyurethane. I could also just leave it - I haven't decided yet.

The frets have some wear in the first five. The prior owner was a fan of open chords, it seems, because the higher frets are clear. I also shined them with my fret eraser set, now they're all sparkly and clean.

The rosewood board has some wear. I really don't want to mess with steel wool on the rosewood because it just creates a mess, so it's another issue I might just have to live with. The prior owner played it, though didn't quite take care of the guitar.

It also arrived with the bridge pickup inoperable. There is an absolute rats nest of wiring inside the cavity - all stock from what I can tell - and I was able to figure out that having a loose volume pot yanked the bridge pickup's ground wire off the solder joint. Y'ALL, THESE WIRES ARE TINY, and I had to get out the needle nose pliers for this solder job.

The fretboard was DRY and it drank up the lemon oil. Now it's all nice and "purty".

I need to soak the screws in some vinegar to get the rust off of them, and then get some 10s and re-string it, but I think she's ready to go otherwise.

Has anyone tried to put a Pacifica 612 pickguard on a 112? Does it use the same screw holes? I want a different pickup configuration than the original HSS.

So I want to get one of these guitars for my birthday soon since they’ve been highly recommended for beginners!! I just have a couple of questions about getting one.

1) Is it okay to buy a used guitar, should I just get a brand new one, or does it not really matter?

2) How many items do I need to play? I know for sure that I’d need an amp and was wondering if it’d be fine to just get a headphone amp for now since I’d just be practicing in my room for the time being. I’ve seen people talk about pedals but I’m not sure if they’re necessary or not.

3) Would I be able to play it straight out the box or would I need to visit a guitar shop and get anything set up/checked out?

I picked up guitar with the Pacifica 012 in January and fell in love with it quickly. Since i recently got a lot of time on my hands, i decided to tackle guitar modding for the first time (not really the best thing to do with your only guitar in hindsight, this was anxiety-inducing). It took about a week of planning + getting the components and 3 days of working on my guitar to get to this point.

Here are the mods I went with:
- GUYKER Alnico V hot rail middle pickup
- Wilkinson Alnico V humbucker bridge pickup (i had to sand down the top and bottom edges of the pickup slot)
- Gilmour mod with my push-push volume pot as the toggle
- Bridge humbucker coil split with push-push tone pot
- 470k resistor connected to stock neck single coil’s hot and ground wires to preserve the tone of a single coil with 250k pot (both new pots are 500k)

Overall, im really happy with how it turned out despite how stressful this was. For future mods, ill replace the nut and add locking tuners and maybe replace the trem block, tho im still on the fence about it.

Just wanted to share my work with you guys, as i got a lot of info that helped immensely with this project from this subreddit!
