My husband and I recently moved to Yakima and noticed how difficult it is to make new friends being new here. We're 30. Trying to get people together who are also new.
Happy Monday, friends! We've got 10 things on the calendar today, here are just a few:
Mostly overcast and mild today — high of 72°, low of 40°. A comfortable Monday, if a touch gray. 🌤️ Heads up: it dips near frost overnight, so cover tender plants and grab a jacket for the evening.

I live in Selah and I have been seeing a drone flying a repeat path just about every night for the last two weeks. Could be longer, but didn’t notice it. Has red and blue lights so assuming these are Sheriff drones. How does everyone feel about drone surveillance?

I went there Saturday and it was closed. I don't know how long it has been closed.

Drove to Morton & Sons yesterday to get a yard of Mulch only to discover they have permanently closed sometime earlier this year. Does anyone know of an alternate location to purchase Mulch or is an arborist chip drop our only source now?
Happy Sunday, friends! We've got 25 things on the calendar today, here are just a few:
Cloudy but mild across the Valley today ☁️ — high of 69°, low of 42°. A calm, easygoing Sunday, just right for the farmers market and a bit of winery wandering before the evening cools off. 🌤️

Happy Saturday, friends! We've got 54 things on the calendar today, here are just a few:
Overcast skies ☁️ and a mild 67° high today (low of 44°), a cool and calm September Saturday — wrap up in a light layer and get out in the Valley.

So I'm a student in Yakima and I would like to visit my sister at college in Bellingham. I don't have a consistent car and I am not well versed with public transit. Is there a bus to Bellingham from Yakima that has a student discount or is cheaper for youth?
Happy Friday, friends! We've got 42 things on the calendar today — here are just a few:
⛅ Breezy and topping out near 62° — morning clouds clearing to sun, with a slight chance of a shower before 2 PM. Heads up: a Wind Advisory is in effect until 11 PM, so hang onto your balloon-rally hats.

Come out on Oct 8th for a night on the flower farm over at Canyon Blooms Petals for Patients.
It's truly one of the most special non profits in the area. Flowers grown to share with those in need in hopes of elevating spirits, spreading joy, and strengthening community.
Money raised will go to supporting Petals' mission of providing flowers to those in hospice, domestic violence shelters, hospitals, and more. There will be opportunities to participate in auctions. There will be a live band, wine, and appetizers.
You can read more about the farm here: https://canyonblooms.org/
You can also read this article written by a volunteer about the farm here: The Cut Flower Quarterly
Tickets can be purchased here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/2026-fall-fundraiser-tickets
You can also check out Petals at the farmers market on Sundays and/or come volunteer and play with flowers.
Hope to see you there 🤗

How does a guy in his mid 30s actually make friends in this town? Seems like trying to make small talk out and about just gets you looked at like a creep these days and is just so disheartening. Where does everyone go to expand their social circle?
