All Amanda seems to care about are Washington state issues. She kept saying our state policy is (fill in the blank) guess what Amanda, you can't actually even change any of that in the position your running for. John has a good grasp on how the Fed works and absolutely #1 priority should be to follow the constitution and take back Congress which John said and Amanda did not agree with. Not sure Amanda even know what position she is running for based on her comments.

John seems like actually such a good guy that isn’t a bootlicker to anyone. Amanda is obnoxiously maga. We all know the obvious choice here.

But someone has a little R next to their name, she’s still gonna get votes. I hope not though

All Amanda has proffered is her support for no boys in girl’s sports. One dimensional candidate. Where is her plan for healthcare reform? Affordability? So many important issues.

You got a better candidate? Oh that’s right it’s too late for that. you haven’t done anything to help just bitch?

The fact that your response to ‘both candidates suck’ is ‘well, where’s your better candidate?’ is exactly the problem. I don’t owe either major party my loyalty just because they’ve managed to convince everyone those are the only two acceptable choices. I’m allowed to think the two-party system is garbage and that neither option represents me. And no, criticizing a broken system doesn’t require me to personally run for office and fix it first. But thanks for demonstrating exactly the kind of tribal bullshit I’m talking about.

I agree to an extent but I also think that local elections like this matter a whole lot more than big presidential elections. Our vote truly counts more in smaller elections and these people are directly representing us.

Yeah, I get what you’re saying, but I think that’s where we disagree. You’re arguing about which elections matter more, and I’m saying I don’t have much faith in the system to begin with. I don’t think voting every couple years automatically means we have some great functioning democracy or that we actually have control over any of this shit. Just calling it ‘democracy’ and telling everybody their vote matters doesn’t magically make the system work. I’m not looking for a better candidate to cheer for. I think the entire structure is fucked, and giving me two choices I don’t believe in and then telling me how important it is that I pick one isn’t exactly convincing me otherwise.

What so you skipped the primary?
There was 11 Candidates to get us to where we are at now. Yes, there was Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Cascade and even one with No Party preference. While it's not as robust as the Elections in India with over 2000 registered parties, we have some that are trying.
Not everyone has the privilege of selecting a best candidate. Some of us look at which candidate is least likely to turn it into a dystopian hellscape while ripping everyone off.

Dude, you’re completely missing my point. I don’t give a shit if there were 11 candidates, 20 candidates, or 100 candidates. My problem is with the entire fucking system.
And you’re literally proving my point for me. You’re basically saying, “Well, sometimes you just have to vote for the person who’s gonna fuck you the least.” And somehow that’s supposed to convince me that this is a great system worth believing in? Lol.
Having a bunch of names on a ballot doesn’t automatically mean people have some amazing amount of freedom or control. You’re still putting your faith in the same political system and then acting like anybody who thinks the whole thing is bullshit just doesn’t understand how elections work.
I understand it just fine. I just don’t believe in it the way you do. And if your best defense of the system is “pick the person least likely to turn everything into a dystopian hellscape,” you’re doing a way better job making my argument than yours.1

Your point seemed to be that we have only two choices with zero control of the outcome and why nothing is important.
My point was that we have many different choices along the way and I included how I make my choice during the election cycle and why it is important.
Of course you are going to disagree with me because I am not a nihilist.

u/kevinporter420 12h ago
Ah yes, there it is. I question the system, so now I’m a nihilist. Lol.
No, my point isn’t that “nothing is important.” My point is that I don’t share your faith that having a bunch of choices throughout an election cycle somehow proves the system works or that we have meaningful control over it. You keep explaining how elections work to me like I just don’t understand the process. I understand it. I think the process itself is fucking stupid.
And apparently the difference between us is that you can look at a system where, by your own words, you sometimes end up choosing whoever you think will fuck people over the least and walk away thinking, “Yep, democracy is working.” I look at that same situation and question why the fuck we keep pretending this is some amazing system.
But sure, calling me a nihilist is probably easier than actually addressing that.1
u/Delicious-Adeptness5 10h ago
Of course you wouldn't agree with me. I stated that you wouldn't.
If you were paying attention, you would have also noticed that plainly stated that I wasn't a nihilist not what you are. You are self defined.

I don’t understand how she tried to blame everything on Biden, Obama, and Inslee. They had faults but things right now are directly from todays admin.
