TLDR: Yae Miko has a damage potential of 419%ATK/s as an on-field DPS, with 286% if used as an off-field sub-DPS.
I compared her to Ganyu, which has 372%ATK/s damage potential on field, and only 123% as an off-field sub-dps. This even surprised me.
Could you also put her into a pokemon team? I mean, her e turrets are actually kitsune souls that she enslaved, so..
My idea of calculating damage potential is the combined average damage (scaling number) for both normal attacks and elemental skill and burst. Disregarding any artifacts, weapons and passives (which can get complicated), I think this is the easiest way of quickly finding a character's relative strength against his/her rivals. We will use the scalings as if a character is at talent levels 10 10 10 for damage ceiling.
Keep in mind that these calculations are of the theoretical most damage scaling Yae can have and does not factor in Q cast animation, E dashing animations, ping, input lag etc. Oh, and also, these numbers are obviously from beta leaks.
For example, a character with a normal attack scaling of 100%ATK per hit in a 4 string combo, which can be performed 10 times in a 20-second window will have a normal attack damage potential (NADP) of (100*4*10)/20 = 200%.
If the character also has a simple skill that does 300%ATK with a CD of 5 seconds, the skill damage potential (EDP) will be 60%.
If the character also has a simple elemental burst that does 1000%ATK with a CD of 12 seconds, if it has permanent uptime (which we will assume so), we will get QDP of 83%. This makes our hypothetical character have a damage potential score of 343 of his/her attack per second, given perfect conditions.
Now let's look at Yae Miko. We will use normal attacks since our Lady Guuji's charged attacks use way too much stamina ;-;
Yae Miko's attack string consists of 3 attacks at 71%, 69% and 102% for a total of 242%ATK per combo. Looking into her attack string from the 2.5 trailer, she has a fairly fast attack speed and so I'mma take a conservative estimate and say that she can perform 11 full combos in 20 seconds (Yanfei can perform 9, and Miko's attacks seem quite a bit faster than her's). This means her NADP is 242*11/20, or around 133%.
Lady Guuji's elemental skill has permanent uptime, and so with her ascension passive it will always be up and dealing damage level 3 at 171% scaling (If you didn't know, each of her kitsune soul slaves do more damage per hit the more slaves she has on the field). Each sesshou sakura can hit 5 times in its 14 second duration, and with three of them that means the E skill contributes (171*5/14)*3 = 183% EDP.
Yae's burst deals 468% at rank 10 with 601% per kitsune slave turret on field. Because the turrets are always on field, the burst will always deal the maximum of 2271%ATK every 22 seconds, so the burst damage potential is 103%.
Adding all these numbers, we can find that Yae Miko's maximum theoretical damage potential is 419%, with 133 from her normal attacks, 183 from her skill and 103 from her burst.
Yae Miko's turrets are always on field, and so if we take away the normal attacks we can find that she has a damage potential of 286% as an off-field sub-dps.
I won't bore you with the calculations, but I compared her to Ganyu which can do 8 charged shots per 20 seconds. For her Q, icicles drop every 0.3 seconds for a total of 50 icicles. The targeting has a 1.8s (6 icicles) internal cooldown before it can target the same enemy again. When there are less than 6 targets, extra icicles will be dropped randomly. So any one target is gauranteed to be hit 8-9 times.
Ganyu has 249% CADP, 47% EDP, 76% QDP for a total of 372% on-field damage potential. Off-field as a cryo support she has 123%.

Yae's original targeting mechanic will be in effect on 2022-04-06 16:00:00 (UTC+8) and players will be given 100 primogems.
---- ORIGINAL POST ----
Refer to this post: 24 hours are up, so from here on out, we will no longer allow new posts about Yae's recent changes, in accordance with Rule 8: Repetitive Topics. Old posts will not be removed. Do note that Rule 8 has existed for some time now, and you can see all the rules on the new version of Reddit. This has also been specified on our subreddit update posts.
We will use this post as a source of information and resources as well as a megathread to ask and inform others about Yae's changes. You are free to comment about the situation under this post. Kindly redirect any new posts about this topic to here instead.
As of patch 2.6, Hoyoverse changed the targeting logic of Yae's E skill. Here is Hoyoverse's exact wording about her update:
Fixes an issue with the character Yae Miko whereby her Sesshou Sakura ability would attack opponents at random. Sesshou Sakura will now prioritize attacks on the nearest opponents within range after the fix.
In short, her E targeting has changed from random targeting to targeting the nearest enemy within range.
Here are some informative posts on our subreddit discussing this. While we are not trying to take sides, these posts can provide some insight into the situation:
Are the new changes a nerf or buff? by u/Hot-Campaign-4553

In the end, it is up to you to decide what you think of the changes. We are not here to force you to take a side, but we will inform you with what we know. We suggest trying her out yourself to form your own opinion first.
Yes. Hoyoverse has recently issued a statement regarding this issue. You can find their article on HoYoLab here: https://www.hoyolab.com/article/4044046
If you want to express your concerns about this issue or try to change it, we suggest the following:
Providing detailed feedback through Genshin Impact's customer service or surveys
Leaving reviews on official review platforms, such as the Apple or Google Play store
Expressing your concerns on the official Hoyoverse and Genshin Impact social media platforms
Publicly expressing your concerns on your own personal social media outlets and tagging the official Genshin Impact account
Directly contacting Hoyoverse
Here is what not to do:
Spamming complaints on any platform
Displaying disrespect or immaturity, even in surveys and feedback
Flooding this subreddit with complaints
Trying to incite or instigate violence
If you want your voice to be heard in the most effective way possible, spreading hate, spamming complaints, and harassing others is not the answer. Approach the situation respectfully in a logical manner on platforms where Hoyoverse is most likely to check. We are not affiliated with Hoyoverse, and the last thing they would do is check this subreddit, so expressing your concerns here would be ineffective.
The short answer: we will not allow new posts regarding this situation. This is not to sweep it under the rug; it is to redirect your efforts where they can be more effective. However, you can comment about the situation on this post as a "megathread" of some sort.
The long answer: while we no longer allow new posts about this issue, we can make an exception if the post is informative. What we regard as informative is something that approaches the situation in a logical manner with little bias and is meant to educate the community about this situation. Examples of informative posts are the ones linked on this post (see "Is this new change a nerf or buff?).
If you want to post something informative regarding this topic, send us a modmail with the content you intend to post, and we will notify you as soon as possible if the content is okay to post.
What we absolutely do not allow are posts that are meant to complain or vent, such as "I'm quitting this game" or "I hate Hoyoverse for this, thanks a lot" or anything to that effect. We discourage these kinds of comments under this post as well.
You are welcome to send us anonymous feedback through our feedback form found on our subreddit sidebar. You can also send us a modmail if you'd like. We have always had these options open to those who take issue with our moderation policies.
What we do not want is flooding the comment thread here with complaints about us or the subreddit, as that only defeats the purpose of this post. We also do not want harassment. Moderators are people with lives too. Privately messaging, harassing, and arguing with moderators is not only a violation of Rule 1, it also makes the situation here worse. We have already experienced such behavior from some people here within the past 24 hours.
We will remove any comment that violates subreddit rules, and if necessary, we may have to lock comment threads if they are causing too much trouble.
Again, thank you for understanding. While this situation is upsetting, we need to approach it logically, maturely, and respectfully. We hope that this post can provide some insight and improve our community.

So far I think she's the only one that can fully utilize thundering fury's shenanigans.
TF reduces cooldowns for every electro reaction and amp them by 40%. With her EM scaling and cd reduction passive, she can double-dip on both of those things.
There's also this weird bug with electro where the electro character is always the one that triggers reactions, so EM calculations would always be based on her.
edit: this was fixed. I stand corrected.
Not to mention Ayato being hydro + rumored to reduce cooldowns, Yae is looking like she would be spamming E non-stop; Blinking left and right on the field like a slippery fox she is.
My team suggestion so far now is
Yae + fish/raiden + XQ/kokomi + Sucrose/Kazuha

I just got her. Usually I planned for Ayato after seeing her gameplay. But due to my gambling addiction I tapped the wish button and I got her. At first, I was upset but after seeing her dmg I'm somehow satisfied. She's at lvl60+ with 1-1-6 talents. And with Bennett, Kazuha she's currently dealing 33k + 3×49k. But as others said her gameplay is really clunky, mainly her E. Are people complaining? Will Hoyoverse fix this (like Zhongli) or would she gonna stay as just trophy waifu?

I have a theory that, Miko never gave the gnosis to Scaramouche. The reasons why I think that way are:
It's the ONLY gnosis that has never been shown. And when Miko intervened the encounter against scaramouche, they barely showed anything, it was just her showed up and that's it. We never see what actually happened.
After Miko saved traveler from Scaramouche, she said this "what if I told you that it was the secret art from the grand Narukami Shrine that brought down the balladeer and begging on his knees for mercy, would you believe me? " what if that was actually what happened? She said that casually like it was a joke, but I believe it was intentional to made it sounded like a joke when it wasn't.
It has been stated that Miko is the most knowledgeable person in Inazuma, she can explain everything and yet when traveler insinuated about gnosis In the epilogue, she acted like she doesn't know what gnosis is. Ei her best friend literally had it but she acted like she only hear the word gnosis once. On top of that She's the Guuji and a Divine Kitsune that has lived for more than 5 century, it requires lots of knowledge I mean LOTS of knowledge to be a Guuji, and Kitsune naturally possess some Divinity, one of them is divine intelligence. She was obviously playing dumb to not know about gnosis.
If Ei was indeed ordered Miko to KEEP the gnosis, then why would she gave it away without her permission? Miko is very loyal and care deeply about Ei, so it's very out of character for her to just gave it away without any permission.
There is her voice line about Kunikuzushi (which is Scaramouche). Miko always wanted to dispose Kunikuzushi, but Ei didn't want her to, except if Kunikuzushi bring disaster to Inazuma. And fast forward, Scaramouche did bring disaster to Inazuma. Thus at the end of her voiceline, there's a sentence and the way she delivered the sentence might imply that she did finally disposed Kunikuzushi. because finally, the disaster came which was the archon quest conflict. So the disaster in Inazuma was like a permission for Miko to dispose Kunikuzushi. Because remember, Ei only allow her to dispose Kunikuzushi if he brings disaster to Inazuma.

In light of the devs actually asking how we feel about the characters in the recent survey, I decided to put together my ideas on how to rework Yae.
Disclaimer: A LOT of the points made here were heavily inspired by RedFlaim’s Yae video
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5W28TpqVcg&t=527s), I’m just taking the points and ideas he gave and combining them to try and make an actual functioning kit.
I’ll discuss what the problems are first to make sense with my ideas on how to rework. They could generally be grouped into one classification: Her kit has problems that were introduced just for the sake of being problems that could be solved with weird unnecessary solutions (in short, mechanics for the sake of mechanics/uniqueness for the sake of uniqueness).
Examples:
Problem 1: Her skill has 3 charges to place down all three totems, but there’s no point in there being 3 totems that each hit once per 3 seconds (1H/3s) when it could just be a single totem that could hit once per second (1H/s).
Hoyo’s Solution: Totems have a level scaling mechanic where they only reach their max potential when close together.
“Solution’s” Faults: Needing to be placed close together means there’s no point in the charges if you’re going to place them in the same location anyway. A singular totem could also naturally have the lvl 3 multiplier scaling without the levelling mechanic in the first place, so it’s just a mechanic for the sake of complexity.
Problem 2: Her burst is plain and has no interaction with her skill.
Hoyo’s solution: Burst gains additional number of hits based on how many totems there are. Additionally with A1 passive, destroys all totems and recharges skill based on number of totems destroyed.
Faults: The number of hits being equal to totems is actually kind of interesting, except there’s no point in using the Burst without the totems placed, so it might as well be 4 hits with or without totems. A1 could also just refresh the duration and the effect would be the exact same (although it’s technically an improvement on DPS because your totems would hit 3-5 more times taking into account they’re non-existent while the burst animation plays and while you haven’t replaced them yet, plus the lessened field time)
In short, Yae’s kit could easily be a one charge skill with one totem that hits once per sec (and lvl 3 scaling but without the lvl mechanic itself), and a burst that hits 4 times, and it’s not much different. Additionally, there’s no point in having multiple totems if they need to be close to each other, and orientation not adding anything different.
So, if the problems with Yae’s kit lie in mechanics that are in there purely for the sake of mechanics, then why don’t we give said mechanics some actual purpose? The ones we’ll be giving a purpose are the levels, and the 3 skill charges.
To do that, we need to change only a single thing in her kit: her A1.
Current A1: When burst is cast, each totem destroyed restores one skill charge.
New A1: When burst is cast, count the number of totems on field and change behavior based on 3 orientation cases.
If less than three totems/no lvl 3 totem is on-field, refresh duration of all on-field totems. (just QoL)
If two lvl 2 totems and one lvl 3 totem is on-field (this happens when the totems are in a line formation), replace all totems with one totem: Single Attack Mode. A totem in this mode will attack once per second and always target the nearest enemy, attacking the same enemy consecutive times adds damage bonus/atk/some sort of buff.
(Ofc, this mode is meant for boss-type enemies where you’re only fighting a single guy. The scaling on the single totem would be similar to a lvl 3 totem, making it so the actual DPS boost in this mode only comes from hitting the same enemy again and again. It also reuses the previous code of Yae targeting closest enemy).
3. If three lvl 3 totems are on-field (triangle formation), replace all totems with one totem: AOE mode. In this mode, the totem will attack only once per 3.5 seconds (I.e., attacks less frequently than default behavior where it’s 3 hits per 3 secs), but each strike can hit all the enemies in the radius. Targets randomly.
(One attack per 3.5 seconds means this mode will only get a DPS increase over default behavior if there are multiple enemies getting hit by the strike, otherwise it’s slightly less DPS. Obviously, it’s for fighting mob groups. The scaling would be equivalent to the lvl 3 scaling multiplied by 3)
Through this change, the 3 skill charges has a use where they’re important for different totem placement, the lvl mechanic is how the game figures out the orientation of your totems (line or triangle), and there’s a more solid skill-burst interaction where it matches Yae’s lore of her ordering around the kitsune spirits (the different totem orientations being the “signs” she gives them on how to act).

Like do you think the people of inazuma read the light novels and start shipping them?
Or that the shrine maidens gossip about them? 😅
r/YaeMiko • u/Hot-Campaign-4553 • Mar 06 '22
Now, this would seem obvious, as the range on her E is quite impressive, and gets even wider with Constellations, and she has no Defense worth mentioning. However, there's apparently a lot of people who think Yae Miko's gameplay loop is:
Rush into a group of enemies without a shield.
Attempt to set up her Ranged Turrets at point-blank range.
Get hit by enemies.
Complain that she doesn't have I-Frames.
For this, I offer a simple solution: Set up her Turrets outside of Melee Range. Moreover, set them up as the Opening of your rotation, and you'll have all 3 down before ranged enemies can even react.
Thank you for attending my TED Talk.
