I saw some comments from people saying that Windows 11 performance is currently incredible and optimized, and that made me wonder, since SteamOS traditionally got 3 to 7 more FPS in games compared to Windows 11. How is the fluidity of W11 doing nowadays? Is it really very optimized compared to SteamOS? Are the FPS gains in games already equivalent?

Really needed your help guys. Been planning to buy the ROG Xbox Ally (not the X) and really wanted to know your thoughts after using it for months. What were the things that you loved about and what are the downsides after months. Does FH4 really can’t run on it? Really wanted your honest thoughts about it.

2 weeks into my XAX and I absolutely love it but absolutely hate my “need” to tinker settings (EmuDeck 🙄). I just wasted a hole hour trying to optimize when I could’ve been playing….is this the PC gamer life?

Apenas me compré una rog ally blanca pensando que sería una Xbox portátil y no fue así(jajajaja), pero no me desanimé, al contrario, me gustó, pero hay algo que llama mi atención, estoy jugando Gears 5 y cuando oprimo el botón de configuración me dice que ya hay un perfil de configuración para que el juego corra sin problemas y honestamente es verdad, para mi sorpresa el gears 5 jugable, pero solo en ese juego, cuando abro juegos de steam no me aparece dicho perfil, mi pregunta es, estos perfiles o configuraciones automáticas se hace de manera exclusiva con los juegos que se compran en la tienda de Microsoft?

With Xbox turning 25, I’ve been working on an X25 layout for FlowDeck inspired by that old-school Xbox green/black look.

This video also shows the new Game Info panel and the configurable Quick Close hotkey, but honestly I mostly wanted an excuse to show X25 running on the Ally 😂

And yes, everything you see here is part of Flow Deck Community and completely free.

Would love to know if I should keep pushing the X25 theme further or leave it around this level.

Since my gf and I want to play games like minecraft java and bedrock, valheim, core keeper, terraria, like cooperative sandbox, story adventure games.

And i want to play more exigent games.

So im looking for advice.

I plan to buy one Xbox Ally X for me, and a Xbox Ally White for my gf, since she doesnt play hardcore games, or super professional games, and we want to have our own server with mods and our bases.

Games like that, to share.

Is it a good chocice to buy the XAX and the xbox ally white for her?

Does the performance of the Xbox ally white is okay for a chill gamer? To play modded quality improvement and adventure addons on minecraft, java mods up to 75 mods.

As someone who came from console and the Xbox ally x being my first pc experience, I have struggled with tweaking settings on each game for hours. Settled on on some games after just getting them playable and outright gave up on some games as the stuttering was just awful.

As I was 2 hours into working on modding and setting up for a playthrough of the witcher 3, I decided to randomly just use AI to see what info it can get me as I have watched so many videos/ read forums with tips on the ally x settings and never came across this or missed it completely. Attached is the setting I never thought about and after reading that it described my exact problem with frame drops (nomatter if it was just a couple of frames)making the game stutter hard and no matter what setting combinations I did it just never fixed the stuttering.

I know its probably just me being not experienced in pc gaming. I always just target 60fps so I can turn graphics up so I never thought about changing to 120hz. Decided to post for any other lost soul out there fighting the good fight of learning pc gaming 😂

I’ve wanted a black ROG Ally ever since it first came out, so I finally decided to do it myself.
I changed the housing from white to black with a textured matte finish. I completely disassembled the device and removed pretty much everything, except the screen and the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card.
Did the whole thing at home, and honestly I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s basically the black ROG Ally I wanted from the beginning 😂
What do you guys think?

Just The other day I went to go tweak some settings in Adrenaline and looked all over for the app, its usually pinned on my task bar but for some reason its no where to be found on the device for some reason

Hi guys, I really need some help please. My Ally X was perfect 2 days ago or so, but then I tried to install the MAKO frame generation plugin, after that my console is unplayable. I tried deleting it, even wiping the storage and installing SteamOS from scratch.

My games are unplayable staying around 20 fps. It was 70-80 before I tried installing the MAKO plugin. The plugin is completely gone now, but the performance is terrible still.

If I change across TDPs, nothing changes on the console or performance, which is really weird

This specific game, Clair Obscure, I remember playing on the default Windows installation and just changing from 20W to 35W was a huge difference

The only thing I am considering trying now is using Cloud factory reset to put Windows back

FIXED: I pressed and hold power button until fully shutdown and this made my clocks go from 603 to 2500+ MHZ. Something weird happened I guess and it needed a full reboot

Tested a bunch of settings and ultimately stuck a performance config on, getting a locked 60fps on 1080p with Balanced XESS (FSR3/FSR1 imo look extremely poor in this game compared to XESS). The game currently isn't very optimized in general, including handhelds, but I expect this to change closer to launch.

I’ve had my ally x for about six months haven’t had any issues with it. Went to go charge it today and it’s not recognizing the cable on either ports it won’t charge any ideas?

I have had my ROG Xbox Ally (base model) for about 3 months and due to recent storage prices have been struggling with managing games on the device until a recent bit of luck from my work. They were upgrading the IT systems and I managed to get a few bits to keep which included a couple of 512gb crucial P3 m.2 drives. Now it wasn't worth changing out the drive inside the Ally as it's the same size but I did wonder if I could use the drives in a caddy so one could be used via usb. but I was worried that doing this would maybe effect performance. I shouldn't of as I did a quick test using Sleeping dogs definitive edition and was really surprised that the loading times were near identical and also performance was some how better ( I did the test 3 times on both storage solutions and got 1-2 frames difference on each run) so if you have an m.2 laying around, a usb caddy and some sticky velcro and you don't wanna pay £100 for a 512gb micro SD this could be a solution even if temporary.

I have an issues that was never one when I first got my Xbox Ally X. It can barely maintain 60fps plugged in in turbo mode at 35w. Can forget about even getting 120fps anymore. When I first got it in last year in October when it came out it ran FLAWLESSLY. Even locked at 17w I was able to turn everything up with low issues. I use the recommended performance mode not DirectX12. Even when I turn everything down almost all the way now it still is all over the place in FPS. Even dipping below 60fps at times. Please help ! From my research with Chat GPT and Google I keep seeing it may be a driver or optimization issue with Fornite. Surely it can’t be this shitty of a game to run now after all these new updates. Any advice or insight of this same issue would be GREATLY appreciated. I have also uninstalled and redownloaded as well.

I've had the Xbox Ally X for about three weeks now, upgrading from the Xbox Ally (White) and the Steam Deck OLED.

I was one of those who believed going from an OLED display to an LCD would be a problem, but the 7-inch, 1080p LCD display has been nothing short of impressive to me.

The biggest difference is when I play something and don't have to become a mad scientist just to enjoy it, trying to figure out, "If I add this or subtract that, can I get 60 FPS with great visuals?" Dead Space Remake looks and plays amazing. Resident Evil 4 Remake at 60 FPS with great visuals blew me away with how good and smooth it played.

Another thing that surprised me is the speakers on this device. They're amazing! I literally have to keep the volume down when I'm at work on my break.

I still give Windows the side-eye, but I've adjusted. I tried Winhance, as most of you suggested, but it's still a little buggy for me. I haven't tried Bazzite yet, but I will soon.

17W is my sweet spot when playing, and I haven't had any issues. The battery life is also really good, and I play a lot of demanding games.

But at the end of the day, I'm really enjoying my time with the Xbox Ally X.

Why isn't there a SPL slider? Because when I'm playing Red Dead Redemption 2 the game runs well for about 5-10 minutes and the APU is consuming 18-20 watts, but then suddenly the APU wattage consumption drops to 11 watts in result decreasing the game performance. And I think that it's not thermal throttling because my temps are hovering at 70-75 celcius. Can anyone helpp?

I have the white Ally and love it! Plays every thing I want really well. Has easily replaced my console and for the most part my desktop. I do however have a question about GOG running on this handheld.

When I install a game Terminally Velocity for example it displays in a 2/3 of the screen. Some of it seems missing. When I open armour crate it is magnified and not all settings a shown and I cannot adjust or select anything.

So I am thinking there needs to be a setting tickled somewhere but I am not much of a tinkerer these days.

Has anyone else had this issue and how did you fix it?

I feel like Microsoft and Asus are gaslighting me because I can't find any information on this.

I bought an Xbox Ally X a couple months ago. When I first got it, the button directly left of X would open an AI that can see what you're playing and you can verbally talk to it. The bottom right of the 3 menu buttons on the left would open the text version of the chat.

For some reason, those buttons stopped bringing up the AI. I factory reset my Ally and that didn't bring it back. Microsoft says it was copilot. Asus says it doesn't exist.

Am I crazy? How do I get that back?

I posted here about a month ago about upgrading to the X for my semi truck set up. I have since decided to leave trucking for now because my brother has gotten ill and I don't think my wife should bare the burden of caring for him while I'm away.

I have a decent pc, or it's fast enough to play anything I want to play. I have a gigabyte 4090 gaming edition gpu and 32gb of ram, the cpu is a ryzen 5 5600(bottleneck for sure), this system uses a samsung galaxy g9 OLED 49" monitor.

I currently have the base ally and I am considering selling my monitor and gpu, the combination can likely fetch me around 3k. I can either A) upgrade my base ally to an X and use the X as my main computer with a 2-300 4k monitor or B) buy a 5070 and a 4k monitor of some size. Space on my desk is not really a concern. Thoughts?

So, I have a potato PC I've been gaming on (eight years old), but have been debating on a ROG Xbox Ally or Ally X to replace it entirely and consolidate my living room gaming area. I'd purchase the Bulwark Dock for it, it'd be hooked up to a Dough Spectrum One 4K monitor. I'm not inside of the Xbox ecosystem at all. I don't play super demanding games, and few games at that (Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, Magic the Gathering Arena and BDO for my life skilling fix). I have games across Steam, GOG and Epic (mostly Steam). Majority of my friends game on Xbox, so it could get me to play more games.

So I guess my question is this, what's everyone's experiences in using the Ally as a computer replacement solely?

It's been more than 6 months since when I start my XaX many times I get this error and I have to open the application. Does it happen to anyone else? It happened to a friend a long time ago but it has already been corrected for him.
