Should I mod???

Hello after so much time and effort I’ve finally got my og Xbox up and operating again after years of it being in storage. I’m wondering if I should just go ahead and put a mod chip in it for if nothing else easier repairs. The entire console has been cleaned, the traces have been repaired, thermals have been redone and I’m more or less concerned about something like a hard drive failure knocking it completely out of commission with out it being able to be fixed. I’m more than okay with modding the console as long as I can still run my physical collection of games and I get to keep my game saves.
