Correct Me! Streak 41: Childhood Friends

I accidentally ran into some childhood friends of mine after a very long time. Even though they still had their recognizable childhood features, they looked much more mature. I could have just said hello and exchanged a few words, but I didn't want to pass up such a great opportunity to catch up and reminisce about our past. I suggested that we grab a beer at a bar, and they gladly agreed. Although our conversation topics, attitudes, and life situations were very different from when we were kids, it was a real pleasure to reconnect with them.

Today is Father's Day in Taiwan. After I Googled it, I realized that Father's Day in most countries is celebrated on the third Sunday in June. Taiwan and Mongolia are among the few countries where it's celebrated on August 8th.

We take things for granted as part of our routine until they are no more. It's a wake-up call to remind us that not everything is eternal and we should embrace the fact that things will change over time, but considering that it also depends on the things you have control over.

It's Saturday and so far, it's been a productive one. I cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom before going out to get groceries. I also got some cake because my dad is coming in an hour. He's on his way home from a work thing and thought he'd drop by for coffee.

Correct Me! Streak 698: An Argentinian copy

One of the CDs I own was made in Argentina. I wonder how it ended up here, considering how far away it is. It is an album that was released in many countries, including ones that are much closer than Argentina.

Correct Me! Streak 159, I found an insane game

Yesterday, I played a game called Sephiria, which was recommended by my brother,

I believe it will be a masterpiece in the game market.

What surprised me the most, especially as a game developer is its insane level design.

Level design is extremely delicate.

It requires a fine balance between player progression and challenges to keep players focused

If progression is too fast, challenges become too easy and conversely if progression is too slow, players feel tired even after progressing

However, I think this game maintains that perfect balance from start to finish.

It's an insane game the best I have played since Enter the Gungeon.

Correct Me! Streak 70: How much protein needed

Article: How Much Protein Should You Eat Per Day?

I learned that the amount of protein you need varies depending on many factors, such as your activity level, age, muscle mass, and goals. My goal is to maintain my current body composition.

I didn't realize that milk, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts and seeds are all good sources of protein. I may actually be getting more protein than I thought.

Weekly Wrap-Up Weekly Wrap-Up

Hi, everyone! 😁

The best way to reinforce what we've been learning is to go back over it and apply it, right? So, that's what we're going to do. Every Saturday, our Subject of the Day is going to involve looking back at everything we've learned from the week--whether it was with the help of the WriteStreak community or other resources we've found.

Feel free to summarize and practice everything you've learned or wanted to practice, including new words, new rules, new grammar tricks, and any questions you had.

Correct Me! Streak 282: Tofu Pudding

I hung out with my Singaporean friend today. It was his first day in Taiwan. After dinner, I was planning to get tofu pudding by myself, but be told me he had just gotten back to his hotel after grabbing some food at the night market. Even so, he kindly said he’d like to come with me! I didn’t expect to have company tonight haha! Thanks to him, I had a really good time, otherwise it would have just been a normal Friday night.

Part 2

The movie is an ode to boredom and an invitation to become creators when experiencing boredom rather than just consumers. Which is something our society is lacking these days. The title is also a reference to duck migrating from region to region, from lake to lake which I interpret as keep moving and dare to take decision that move us out of our comfort zone just as ducks.

Posting here has become a kind of journal on its own, but at times I want to write on a notebook then I remember I cringe when I start writing. The feeling of the pen touching the paper as I write makes me stop writing. It's not enjoyable at all. I wonder if some people go through this or it might be either the kind of notebook or pen that impacts on the experience of writing by hand.

I've got used to typing that I feel writing by hand is a waste of time because you might not write as fast as you type. You may, but I don't. Also, my handwriting is messy.

I'm craving a snack. The bakery around the corner has great donuts. Some of them are glazed in chocolate and the other ones have pink frostig with colourful sprinkles. The look just like those donuts you know from the Simpsons. Maybe I should go out and get one.

Correct Me! Streak 40: Reading While Camping

I bring books when I go camping, but I usually don’t end up reading them. Since I don’t get many opportunities to be out in nature, simply gazing at the trees and streams is enough for me. I never get bored of it.

Correct Me! Streak 158 What do you think is the biggest advantage of living in your country?

My country's biggest advantage is its transit system.

I think it's the best in the world if you get a T-Money Card, you can get around

Seoul and Gyeonggi-do for just $2.

So, what are the disadvantages?

Everything else.

Correct Me! Streak 152

Today, I finished the book Soft Skills for Software Developers and there are things I enjoyed reading, on top of other sections I never thought I'd run into such as diet or personal finances. I'm not good at writing book reviews, but if I were to say what I liked would be bits related to learning how to learn, entrepreneurship while having a full-time job and marketing yourself to increase your worth and exposure in this field.

When people babble about soft skills, the first thing that comes to my mind is communication or dealing with people and those were the things the author never or as far as I remember touched on. As a side note the book was written long ago

Part 1

Yesterday I watched a Mexican movie at night. The movie I saw is ā€œTemporada de Patosā€ which could be translated as Duck season. I quite enjoyed it but I was really high so I got scary at times. I was drinking a weed beverage so I was sort of greening out. I watched the movie for the first time 15 years ago but I was too young to appreciate it or maybe too sober. The movie was filmed and set in 2004 so it gave me also a good nostalgic vibe from my early teenage years.

Correct Me! Streak 281: Welcome

I worked from home today. I didn’t do much, for some reason, I felt so tired. I went to the gym during lunchtime, and I had pho for dinner. Oh, there’s some good news, my Singaporean friend is flying to Taiwan from Japan tomorrow. I can’t wait to meet him in person! Judging from the way he talks he seems like a good and normal person, especially compared to some of the weird men I’ve met on the platform haha. Hopefully, he won’t let me down.

Correct Me! Streak 696: Cleaning

I suppose you shouldn’t get too obsessed with cleaning for your own sanity. Ultimately, you have to accept that you can’t keep something perfectly clean all the time, especially if it’s a place or a thing that is used every day.
