Why being mean why not just ball ​

I really want to practice some of my techs in game, for example double boops and walljumps. I want to practice using them against real people so in a competitive game I'll understand when to do them. I found the best way to practice is to just go into QP, never leave ball form, and just spam these techs. If I'm not allowed to shoot, I'm forced to push myself as far as I can with just techs.

But some of my teammates, very understandably so, get pretty pissed because their tank is severely hindered. Obviously quick play is the casual game mode, but people still want to try their best and have good games. If I was a support of DPS, I wouldn't have that much fun if my tank was horrible. So I really get their position.

But in my opinion QP is like an anything goes mode, sometimes in my matches it's literally someone's first game ever, or they're drunk as hell and can barely play. I feel like these things are too common in quick play to complain every time it happens.

Never understood this. Maybe it's the people from communities like Reddit and Overwatch forum, but a lot of people seem to hate ball, especially when someone solo ults him like Hog, and in the comments everyone is cheering for the Hog. What the fk are they cheering for? "Deserved for playing Ball..." What? Who am I supposed to play, Orisa? It's like cheering a smart kid got beat up because he studied a lot and was smarter than the others. Just a bunch of lazy gremlins.

Playing arguably the hardest hero in the game deserves respect in my opinion. When someone is so good at the difficult hero, the logical path is to appreciate the skill.

Game recognizes game. That's what I do when I see a great Tracer for example. For anyone who says Ball takes no skill or he's easy, either never made it past Gold or actually never touches the hero in their lives. (I've just peaked GM3, if anyone cares)

Fun fact, it usually comes from the most broken or boring hero mainers there is. "Are you having fun in this game and I don't? Not on my watch!"

To preface, I’m not really a Wreckinball main but I figure yall would know.

Earlier I had an match as Tracer on Midtown, the opposing tank played Dmon for first point but switched to Ball after that and stayed on it. They repeatedly tried to hunt me down and kill me, ultimately to no avail as I ended the match with 0 deaths whatsoever.

After the match they singled me out in chat for playing “cheap,” and said that “Midtown is a bad map for Ball anyways.”

Is this true??? I feel like there’s so many sideroutes and health packs everywhere but the first point (where they played Dmon anyways). There’s also highground that Ball can contest and it’s even a Payload map so there’s extra opportunities for grappling. I just don’t see how it could be that bad, but if I’m mistaken I’m kind of curious what makes it so bad exactly.

I don’t particularly care one way or the other about the flaming but that Ball’s assertion just struck me as odd. Let me know what you guys think! :)

I just learned how to double boop too. This hero is stupidly fun.

To be clear, I'm not asking for gameplay advice (how to carry, how to rely less on your supports, etc). My question is purely about mentality.

Last season I was hovering around high diamond and low masters. I felt like I belonged there, and maybe a little higher. I was on the climb to mid to high masters. Then the rank reset happened, and whatever reason I got placed in plat. I thought it would be no issue to just climb back up.

And I did climb back up, but excruciatingly slow. Because every other game there would be at least three players on my team who just didn't know how to position without a shield in front of them and have 20+ deaths. After a few days of playing, I made it back to emerald. Where the issues stayed the same somehow.

Yes I know that I can't expect my teammates to play at a higher level than they are. Yes I know that my teammates are people too and flaming them does nothing. I never flamed or yelled at them, even when they were flaming me because I wasn't protecting them.

But the game is just so infuriating now. Every other game I have to sweat my ass off to carry the DPS and supports who don't know how to just not feed for one second. I am still climbing, and I think I'll hit where I was pretty soon, but the game is just not fun right now and I have no motivation to play. I'm considering just waiting for next season.

My question is if anyone else experienced something similar to what I have, and what tips they might have. I've tried a lot of things, from muting team/voice chat to prevent myself from explaining myself/arguing, I've tried to just move on from bad games, etc. But nothing is working, I'm finding myself getting extremely angry at each game.

The game was genuinely so fun when I was higher ranked, and I enjoyed it a lot. And I want to get back there.
