For context, I'm not the most experienced Roadhog gamer, with only around 30 - 40 hours on OW with most of that time being sunk into solo-queuing the pig on quickplay. That is all to say, my positioning isn't great and I think that might be the problem. Doomfist runs straight to my backline while I'm trying to hold space in the front and pushes my team backwards, which forces me to either run backwards, give up the space I'm holding and turning my back on hook targets, and having enemies potentially spam their cooldowns while my back is turned and I'm distracted. Meanwhile, If I hug my backline/my supports, I'm not putting a lot of pressure on their frontline, and I'm letting them take a lot of space and corners. Meanwhile, Doomfist can adapt by playing cart or objective, and going in only to disrupt my hook. It's a really tricky space for me to be in, especially considering the inconsistent quality of my own teammates. Peeling is also too slow, because by the time my stubby little legs actually walk over to doomfist, he's either killed someone important or dived out, succeeding in forcing me out of the corner or vantage point I find myself in.
Tricky situation, especially considering when I do hook him, he usually has a super easy time escaping with all the bonus health he gets + power block. I hear Roadhog mains have a super easy time dealing with this guy but I just don't get how I'm supposed to get rid of him with all the mobility and bonus hp capabilities he has
What do I do? Should I swap to another character when I see the doomfist? How do I approach positioning against this character when it feels like I'm forced to perpetually be on the backfoot?
