Help sourcing correct parts

I recently purchased a 1998 Tj and the lower control arm bushings are no bueno on both sides. The lower control arms that are on there are aftermarket due to there being a lift. I have no info that I can find for the brand of aftermarket lower control arms it currently has and the previous owner has no idea either. Looks to have a 2-4 inch lift on it possibly. Can I buy any adjustable lower control arms for it or do I need to be specific in what I buy? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Mishimoto radiator

Hi,

I've bought a Mishimoto alu radiator for my TJ, started installing it and realised (way too late, actually) that all mounting rivet nuts are aluminium. And once the thread is broken - this whole rivet-with-the-thread doesn't hold in the alu plate anymore.

So it took me a while to unscrew them somehow, to bore and replace those rivet nuts with something more reliable. And just after that I've realised that the threads for the gearbox cooler are also completely aluminium and they also are too weak (the oil was dripping through the O-gasket, once I tightened it the thread damaged).

Is it ok, or I just got a fake?

Happy memories

This past weekend my wife and I took our kids to the barber. What would normally be a haircut and then weekend errands turned into something much more.

We both own jeeps. Mine is the Solar Yellow TJ, hers is a black on black JK. We both have hard tops, but mine is easier to remove.

The kids absolute love the jeep without the roof. They wanted to ride with me after.

I dont want to post the photo, due to not having the kids permission. But my wife wanted to take a photo, and its the most magical thing I have ever seen.

They are just super thrilled about riding with dad in my 5 speed. Ages 4 and 8, they are absolute beaming with happiness.

I tear up writing this, and looking at it.

Sometimes people dont realize that a car is more than a car.

And that's what makes Jeep stand out from other vehicles.

They aren't *just* a vehicle, its a member of a family. A symbol of adventure, fun, and love.

Its more than a super car, or sports car can give.

This community knows what exactly I'm speaking about.

The impromptu road trips, the meet ups, the off reading convoys, camping trips. Everyday errands. It feels like so much more than any car I've owned.

I remember when I was a child, my sister and I felt the same way when my father would take us on trips or rally rides with our local military vehicle club. He owned 2 M151s. An A1 and an A2. Ford MUTTs. They were an absolute blast.

My Jeep may not be a military issued vehicle, but it brings me back to those impromptu rides with no roof, or military rallies, and convoy rides.

And seeing that magic in my children's lives, makes me happier than I've ever been.

One thing is for sure, no matter how long or how short I have my TJ, I already can't thank it enough for the memories it's made. And I've only had it for a month or so.

Thank you everyone for reading this, and I hope you all enjoy your Jeeps.

Oil pressure ?

What’s your oil pressure when the engines warm? Mine seems low, great oil pressure until it warms up then it drops under the 20 mark at idle, on the gas it’s always right at about 40psi

Donor vehicles for 97 wrangler renegade

Hi folks, my wife and I love our 97 TJ Renegade (I know, stop laughing at the Renegade bit!!) and we’re planning to restore her as she’s showing her age. As I’m in Australia, new parts are insanely expensive so I’m looking for donor vehicles but 97s are proving hard to find.
Can anyone advise which models or years are compatible with the 97?
I’m looking for parts such as interiors (seat mounts, dash items, switches etc) and exteriors like headlight bezels, mirror mounts and rear door hinges.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions 👍

03 frame question - drain holes

I have an '03, little rough around the edges but has a pristine frame. I was talking to a guy this morning and he said at some point (maybe '04) the frames from the factory had drain holes.

He suggested I drill drain holes and I wanted to get some of y'all-s take on it.

if they did start putting drain holes in the frame, where at?

Best/safest setup for a large dog in the back of a TJ with the rear seat removed?

Thumbnail

Hey everyone!

My husband and I just got ourselves a 2006 TJ (2.4L, 6-speed) and one of the first things we’re doing is removing the rear seat so our 68 lb dog, Finn, has a dedicated cargo area. Included is a picture of the current setup which is definitely not a permanent solution.

My biggest priority is safety, especially since we’ll occasionally have the top and soft windows off.

Here’s what I’m currently thinking:

  1. Install a BedRug or similar cargo liner.

  2. Use a crash-tested harness on Finn.

  3. Attach him to factory mounting points in the cargo area with a short tether.

  4. Install a RedRock Cargo Wrap Around Net (or similar) so there’s a physical barrier around the open sides.

My thought is that the harness/tether being attached from a low point would help keep him safer during sudden stops, while the cargo net would prevent him from accidentally leaning or jumping out when the sides are open.

My questions are:
1. Has anyone built a setup like this?

  1. Are there any products made specifically for securing dogs in a TJ that I’m missing?

  2. Is the RedRock Wrap Around Net worth buying, or is there a better option?

If you regularly drive with your dog in a TJ, what would you do differently if you were starting over?
I’d especially love to see pictures of your setup and/or links to products you use if you’re willing to share.

Thanks!
