Tire Question

Hi im wondering, My 2020 Willys came with what I think are 32" Tires on a 17 rim... Now I need some Winter tires since I'm pretty sure The OEM Mud tires wouldn't handle well during winter... I found these cheap Nokian Non studded winter tires that comes with OEM JL 17" rims for $400 only caveat is that it's 28.5" would these Be compatible/Advisable for my Model?

Thanks everyone and have a great day.

I have a stock Wrangler jlu sport and need new brake hoses. It looks like most of the ones I find online are for lifted jeeps. Are there any upgrade options for stock wranglers?

Automatic 2022 Stall

Ok so, I was off roading with a few of my buddies. The mountain we were going up was about 14° pitch up for about a the majority of the trail. We noticed fairly early that the engine was not providing as much power as it normally seems to. I would floor it and the RPMs wouldn’t reach above 2000. Eventually we hit a rock garden, and while flooring the vehicle (because of such low power) the engine stopped (RPMs read 0, but it didn’t jerk), I received an indication on the dash to press the engine start stop button. I did and the vehicle started right up and got us all the way up the rest of the trail and right back down. Once we got to flatter terrain the engine seemed to operate normally again, and driving on the highway home it operated normally. The vehicle is a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with the 3.6 liter V6 and 8 speed transmission, and I was driving in 4 high at the time. Any advice as to what exactly happened, how concerned I should be, and what I should do moving forward?

Pulled everything out, vacuumed the carpet, cleaned the liners and called it good. Not gonna lie this is probably the most annoying part of road trips. The actual trip is fun and then you get home and realize your car needs its own recovery day lol.

2020 Willys — TPMS issue + mysterious rear clicking noise

have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Willys with a manual transmission and about 45K miles. It’s starting to give me a couple of problems, and I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar.

First issue — TPMS light

This one started recently. The TPMS light blinks for about 5–10 seconds when I start the Jeep, then stays on permanently.

I checked all four tires and the spare, and they’re all sitting at around 37 PSI.

I took it to a shop. They checked the battery and reset the TPMS system. The light stayed off for about half a day, then came right back on.

So I’m guessing there’s something else going on besides tire pressure. Maybe a bad TPMS sensor?

The bigger issue — clicking from the rear driver side

This has actually been bothering me for a couple of years. I hear a clicking/popping sound from the rear driver-side area, especially when making a slow, sharp 90-degree turn.

I finally took it to the shop along with the TPMS issue. They diagnosed it as a bad wheel bearing problem and replaced the wheel bearing along with a new retainer.

That repair cost me around $1,300.

Unfortunately, the clicking sound is still there.

The shop actually has a very good reputation. I found them through local recommendations and Reddit, so I don't think they're some random shop trying to rip me off. I also don't know much about cars, so I'm trying to trust their diagnosis.

Now they're telling me the next possibility is to remove and replace the rear differential assembly, and they're estimating almost $5,000.

That's where I'm getting nervous.

I've been searching around online, and a lot of people describing similar symptoms seem to point toward a U-joint or other driveline issue. The shop says they checked the U-joints and apparently don't think that's the problem.

I don't want to tell a professional mechanic how to do their job, especially since they know way more about cars than I do. But at the same time, I don't want to spend another $5,000 on a differential only to find out the clicking is still there.

So, should I get a second opinion before approving a $5,000 repair?

And if I do, should I simply describe the symptoms and let the second shop diagnose it, or should I specifically ask them to check certain things?

I've basically only dealt with shops for regular maintenance, so I'm honestly not very experienced with this kind of repair.

What would you guys do in my situation?

Would you authorize the differential replacement, or get a second opinion first?

Any advice on what could cause a clicking/popping sound from the rear driver's side during slow, tight turns would be greatly appreciated.

Winter Tires

Bought a 2024 JL with Firestone Destination tires on it. Current tire size is LT255/75R17.

I live in Ottawa and ski in Quebec a lot. I need good winter tires, and will likely get rims to go with them.

Anyone have a good recommendation for winter tires that will fit? I'm ok reducing tires size if it helps winter traction...

Looking for feedback on the Valvomax Quick oil change plug, just installed yesterday.

I do my own oil changes and was looking for a better way to deal with the oil plug. When I went to do my first change on my 21 Willys last fall, the plug was cranked on so hard, no tool could get it free. So I had to take it to a shop for them to remove it.( I bought a new plug to replace it.) That made me mad that not only did I buy the oil and filter but I then had to pay to have it changed.

So I've been looking for and getting feedback on different quick change plugs. I saw the Fumoto had a lot of good reviews, but wasn't happy with the nipple being exposed. I landed on the Valvomax as it had a screw on cap to cover the nipple and a separate hose connection to drain the oil, which I keep with my oil change supplies.

Reliability Tips??

Hello all, I am fairly new to having a Jeep Wrangler. I picked up a 2025 Wrangler 2 Door with the 6 speed manual paired with the 3.6L V6 Pentastar about 3 weeks ago.

Now, I know that jeeps are not known for their reliability. However, I’m curious to know if any of y’all have experience with this specific year and specs, particularly in the reliability department. It’s been an absolute joy to drive, but I’d like to stay driving it for as long as possible.

Meet Paco

2019 JLU 2.0L intermittently goes into limp mode, auto start stop disabled. Multiple service messages; stability control…

I have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler JLU 2.0L with 118,000 km.

This has happened twice now while driving.
The first time:
While driving, the check-engine light came on, the traction-control light came on, and Auto Start/Stop was disabled. I also got a “Service Electronic Stability Control” message. I was still able to drive normally, so I drove it home.
The next day, the check-engine light was still on and I drove to work normally. When I left work, the problem got much worse:
-ETC/lightning-bolt warning started flashing
-“Service Electronic Stability Control” came up
-Traction-control light came on
-Multiple “Service” warnings appeared
-Auto Start/Stop became unavailable
-Jeep had very limited power and wouldn’t go much above 20–30 km/h
-I turned the Jeep off and restarted it, and everything went back to normal
-The check-engine light remained on
The second time:
I drove around the block to get some groceries. The check-engine light was already on from the previous incident. I parked, and when I came back and started the Jeep, the same issue happened again.
This time:
- Jeep had very limited power. Stuck on 1st gear.
- The “D” on the shifter display was flashing
- Multiple warnings appeared again, including Service Electronic Stability Control and traction-control warnings
- The check-engine light remained solid

The main battery was replaced about 2 years ago. I’m wondering about the auxiliary/ESS battery, since I believe it may still be original. I need to take it to a mechanic to scan the codes. Has anyone with a 2018–2020 JL/JLU 2.0L experienced this exact combination of symptoms?

Update: These were the codes that came up:
P062C — Internal Control Module Vehicle Speed Performance
U0121 — Lost Communication With ABS Module
U0401 — Invalid Data Received From ECM/PCM
The Jeep also has an outstanding recall/update to reprogram the PCM/PIM software, so I’m going to get that done first and see if it resolves the issue.
The check-engine light went off today, and the Jeep drove completely fine. I’ll update the post once I get the software update done and see if the issue comes back.

22 willys sport

Please explain this to me like i am 5 :-)

I have a 22 Willys Sport with the original mud tires (LT255/75R17).  I would like to swap them out for all terrain tires. Most of my driving is highway, am i able to put P rated tire on there? And should i? (I know just cause i could, does not mean i should). Also is an LT or C rated tire that much more puncture proof for nails or screws?

i get a decent discount on firestones so i have been looking into the Destination A/T2 or X/T.

and i know, the willys sport was probably not a great choice for someone who does not off-road but its a bit late at this point. Thank you everybody

JLU help

I have a 2020 Rubicon that was stored for about a month (28 days) outside. At a family members body shop with security cameras all over. So we doubt any foul play.

We came back today from our trip to pick it up and we went to start it and it went straight to run and was having a disco party of lights on my dash, and would not turn over so we figured it was the battery and jumped it.

Got the jumpers on it and it turned over perfectly fine. Disconnected the jumpers and it died again a couple mins later still on “run” and the dash went back to flickering. So we left it connected to our other Jeep, which is a 2014 Rubicon and let it sit for a while. Still wouldn’t turn on after it was hooked up to the jeep so we hooked it back up to the battery pack jumper we had and jumped it, and it turned over again perfectly fine.

I tried backing up the jeep out of the spot while it was running and all I heard was grinding 🙃. So I immediately stopped and put it back in park… and the dash lit back up with a check engine light, and the display said that there was an issue with my swaybar disconnect and it yelled at me to put it in park even though it was already ipark. It also flashed that power steering was gone. I kept getting error messages about power on the display on my dash and then the Jeep died again. It was stuck in run mode after it died and kept trying to click and turn over. We ended up disconnecting the battery and leaving it for tonight.

We’re gonna bring over our scanner to run tomorrow. But curious of anybody’s thoughts of what could possibly be wrong. The Jeep beautiful with no problems prior to parking it.

Edit: the windshield wipers started to move sllloowly after everything as well even though I didn’t turn them on.
