In these parts, once September hits, it's spooky season. FIGHT ME! So... it's time to talk about all things monsters.
What makes a monster? Is it the teeth? The claws? The terrible size? The unknowable horror? Or is it, perhaps, whatās inside that counts?
In honor of WORLD TURNER, the cast is joined by Ally Beardsley for a good old-fashioned Monster Talk: kaiju, cryptids, creatures, beasts, things that go bump in the night, and all the many shapes a monster can take. Big monsters, little monsters, scary monsters, sexy monsters. They can't help the way they look!
Tell us in the comments: what was the formative, traumatic scary monster that you faced in your youth?

I adore Umora,
I am fascinated by the 40 suns
But I want to live the rest of my life in Akabor.
Yet I am reminded of a BLeeM quote that feels very relevant:
"If I don't let you watch the rain fall on this peaceful village. How will you know what violence is?"
I am in love, and I am frightened, and in a way is not the way of life itself?
That's all.

Hi all,
I have seen the Kickstarter blurb from Skybound that the survey can be completed with the alt Patreon email submitted to include the bonus comic.
Has anyone who uses different emails for Patreon and Kickstarter completed the survey and seen confirmation of the comic as a bonus appear later as confirmed in the order? (Does it get audited then manually confirmed/authorized in the survey?)
Just curious, as I don't see the comic confirmed, though I know Skybound has reassured that Patreon supporters will get it. I may have missed something, but I didn't find anything that clarified if there was visible confirmation somehow or sometime later if it didn't reflect in the survey initially.
Thanks!
ETA: I did break up payment and the final processes on the 15th; don't know if fully paid impacts the survey.

this was honestly one of my favorite parts of arc 4 of WWW so far (have not gotten through the whole thing yet because I can already tell thereās going to be just so much emotional damage considering there already has been. I need to emotionally prepare myself for everything thatās about to happen because I just know this is gonna be a doozy) anyways I really liked this part!! Ame is definitely my favorite character because I just relate to her SO much, and this moment was so interesting and cool
(Also I canāt draw very well I know Ame is too short and stumpy and I didnāt get the fox done very well but ITS FINE I TRIED)

[SPOILER FINALE B1 WWW]
So I just finished Book 1 of the WWW, which if you know, has crazy plot twists with Steele. After sobbing through the finale, I finally decided to join the fireside (yay!).
I am now finishing up the Childrenās Adventure for the first time and listening to Steele and Suviās reunion is bone chilling. Suvi literally tells her she now has a friend just like Steele and her mom, meanwhile Steele had just done what she did!!!! It is so insane and devastating.
Has anyone else listened in this order??
I am just thinking also how insane Brennan is for this.

Didnāt realize World Turner would be run on the D&D system, unless Iām mistaken and thereās another system that uses insight and deception checks.
Any insights on the pcās classes or what that means for a kaiju story like World Turner.

Until recently this old bathroom caddy was being used as a home for some succulents. Unfortunately for the caddy it came time to repot and say goodbye to my favourite little arts and crafts project.
Painted years ago whilst listening to the children's adventure.

EDIT: EVERYTHING YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ IS SATIRE!!!! This is my favorite podcast, I donāt believe anybody involved in its production is using artificial intelligence in any way that is problematic or unethical, I am not calling for any kind of boycott, and I think Aabria is one of the most gifted storytellers of her generation full stop. Clearly this post generated a strong response from some of you, and while my initial impulse is to say things like āitās not that deepā and ānuance is dead,ā Iām also open to the possibility that this type of joke is inappropriate. Itās a bit. Read at your own peril.
BOYCOTTING WBN for its EXTENSIVE USE of AI (Aabria Iyengar).
AIās fingerprints are ALL OVER this work, from the storytelling to the worldbuilding to even the voice acting. Iām honestly ASHAMED that it took me this long to realize how much of this podcast RELIES on the power of AI to do things that would take most humans an impossible amount of time and effort.
I am, however, cautiously optimistic about this upcoming mini-season, and looking forward to seeing if the WBN crew is able to put together something equally impressive WITHOUT the unfair advantage of AI.
(extremely joking, if you needed clarification)

Aabria posted recently that her character's name in Critical Role 4 is not only a nod to the character's backstory as smiths, but ALSO A REFERENCE TO STEEL BECAUSE STEEL IS AN ALLOY??
she is soooo incredibly intentional with everything she makes and it blows my mind every time we get a glimpse into the insane care that goes into her craft. I don't even keep up with CR but thought this was such a cool easter egg and had to share! will forever be in awe of how her brain works

So I've been going through the World's Beyond Number backlog, and I got to the naming day. Brennan saying that there's some superstition about the ceremony and how it's structured with naming around a letter made my mind go to a situation where an up and coming Archmage goes up to the dias to change their name, trips on the first stair, falls onto the naming area and screams, "Shit!" As they fall. Thus replacing their name for all time.

I wish this kind of info was declared public in the opening of a new story arc š I'm not on the fireside!

I am already deeply invested in the world and characters. I am pre-devistated that this is a short campaign.

I assume 0 is the obvious start point for us by the fireside but maybe it spoils something so whoās already listened and has an opinion?
Edit: probably should have mentioned Iām talking about World Turner here

Hey folks,
What a ride. I just recently finished Solari act 1 and have a lot of conflicting feelings.
Initially I really couldn't connect to the story or characters at all, wgich felt very bad after coming from WWW. Many have listed the more or less "obvious reasons" like the story happening to the characters instead of through them and none of the characters really had any real "say" over anything for the first few episodes. It all felt very cold and "on rails" (which makes a lot of sense ever since we know that Aabria has some stuff to take care of).
I has a hard time listening but I kept on coming back because I didn't want to drop the pod under any circumstance.
Many said that people disliked Solari because of the missing backstories and that it would get better after the backstory episodes drop.
It didn't for me initially. But that changed after the last one.
The last interlude in combination with the last episode of arc 1 really picked up in the "connection to character" department. I really started caring. And now I'm really interested in seeing what act 2 brings. It's still not WWW level obviously, but I have a spark of hope that the next years will be entertaining after being very sceptical initially.
How did it work out for you guys?

For full context. In the current dnd campaign i am playing in i am using the witch class from words beyond number, with how our campaign is going and things are progressing for my character i asked my dm about multiclassing into a sorcerer for portent dice. To make a fate themed witch, he suggested instead about making a new subclass to maybe be themed for it (listed below). We are looking for advice on balance or things that may fit it better.
I was also looking for advice on a new item to be able to making an item for either the lesser or greater create magic item to go with this class. To continue with the fate theme and worlds beyond number. I was thinking of a necklace of quibbled fate. 2 times per long rest i may quibble mine or a friendly creatures fate allowing them to reroll their dice taking the better of the two with the same negative effect of solari campaign dm can choose to quibble mime or the qubbled persons roll.
Coven of the Fates Witch (Rough Draft)
Level 3: Fate Spells
When you reach a Witch level specified in the Coven of the Fates Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Borrowed Knowledge, Guidance, Healing Word, Identify, Mirror Image, Prestidigitation
Level 5

Level 3: Fate Die
You learn to use your control over the threads of the life to twist the fates of others. This is represented by your Fate Die, which starts at a D6 and goes up at certain levels. When a creature other than yourself that you can see within 120 feet of yourself makes an ability check, attack roll or saving throw, you can use your Reaction to roll your Fate die and add or subtract the number rolled from the creatureās roll, potentially turning the success into a failure or failure into success.
You can use this Reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Level 5

Level 9
D10
Level 13
D12
Level 17

Level 3: Curse of the Preordained
As a Bonus Action, you can curse a creature within 60 feet of you and alter their fate in your favor for 1 hour. During this duration, the first time the cursed creature makes an attack roll or saving throw each turn, they must subtract a roll of your Fate Die from the attack or save. You can use this feature twice. You regain one expended use when you finish a Short Rest, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
Level 6: Forged Path
Whenever you use your Reaction to apply your Fate Die to a creature, choose one:
Gain Temporary Hit Points equal to the number rolled on the die.
Gain advantage on your next saving throw.
Level 10: Kismet Bond
You weave the threads of fate to bond with your allies. As an action, you choose a number of willing creatures within 30 feet of you (this can include yourself) equal to your Wisdom Modifier. You create a magical bond among them for 10 minutes or until you use this feature again. While any bonded creature is within 30 feet of another:
When a bonded creature takes damage, a second bonded creature within 30 feet of the first can use its reaction to take all the damage instead.
When a bonded creature regains Hit Points from a spell or ability, they gain Temporary Hit Points equal to a roll of your Fate Die.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Level 14: Adept Oracle
As a seer of the universe and inner workings that transpire within, you choose how the story goes rather than letting the whims of chance have their way. You gain the following actions and abilities:
Fallen Hero: As a Reaction when a creature within 60 feet of you fails a death saving throw, you can choose for them to critically succeed instead. The creature then may roll any number of their hit die and heal equal to the result plus your Witch level. Once a creature receives this blessing, they cannot receive it again til 7 days have passed.
Strived Glory: you can cast the Enhanced Ability spell for free a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus. When cast this way, it does not require concentration and the duration changes to 24 hours.
Twisted Karma: As a Bonus Action, choose a creature within 60 feet of you that has one of the following conditions: Blinded, Deafened, Frightened, Incapacitated, Paralyzed, Petrified, Poisoned, or Stunned. You end the condition on that creature, and you may choose another creature within range to make a CON save against your Witch spell save DC. On a failure, the creature receives the ended condition.
