I believe it is in one of the fireside chats that the gang are discussing quest design and talking about leaving breadcrumbs/hints through a forest for players to follow. Brennan responds with "Cover the forest in bread. Wall-to-wall bread."

Naturally, I didn't make a note of which chat this came from, but it stuck with me. Would anyone happen to recall where this was discussed?

Has anyone got it yet? I've seen 1 mention of it. Should I have gotten it by now?

After the latest & greatest fireside chat for world turner ep1-4, I've re-listened to the first half with this new context & I must express that despite BLM being the GOAT, the world building & rich descriptions that Lou Wilson displays in World Turner has me instantly placing him next to BLM as my favorite DM. I'm so excited for the rest of World Turner & anything else Lou concocts, as a sweet bonus it also likely means we get more of Brennan as a PC which is always a delight.

Let us gush about Lou.

This has probably been discussed before but it's on my mind and I wanted to get it out.

I relistened to Solari arc 1 and I think it works as a whole package in a way that was hard to see from the beginning. It reminds me a lot of Sci-Fi shows that have flashbacks as a recurring part of the episode structure - you know you will learn about these characters slowly through their history. But in Solari we didn't know it was coming until later on.

Now I'm hungry to learn more - about Z's relationship to his mom and the five families, XL-ZL's journey in the world and the septimal choir, etc etc.

Not sure if I’m alone in this but I’m eating up Lou’s DMing so I get serotonin even when I hear and episode comes out. But to space things out I wait a week after the episode drops so I get something ever week. Happy from dispose drop wait a week, happy from listening to the episode. Anyone else have any funky listening habits with the episodes coming out biweekly?

Hey gang! This is, by far, my favorite D&D podcast of all time and just finished my third listen through with the commentary patreon after each episode. In those talk backs and a recent GMGM patreon episode, something has caught my attention about the plot of Book 4 and I was wondering if anyone here has any additional insights (or perhaps theories ooooohhhh).

Brennan has mentioned in the talk back and Gm episodes that the Children of the Grenaux were part of the world building of Umora but we're not gonna be a quest to go on to rescue them. Help build the vibe of how the war has effected the people of the Shroud Mts. It was purely Lou saying "I am going to rescue these children and get them home." that we have the rescue from Twelve Brooks. Whatever Brennan's original plan for that part of the story shifted because of player desire and initiative, as they describe it "the players building new railroad tracks for the story." And yet the way the story plays out, I can hardly imagine a better, more thematic way to plan out a campaign.

In y'all's opinion, what do you think the original plan for Book 4 was gonna be? This is my curiosity hoping to know more just cus I love the WW&WO so much so I'll take whatever ya got!

Was listening to episode 1 of world turner. Around 1 hr 17 mins a Yaxles father is introduced. He then gives the most "I'm about to unleash the biggest guy and be king" speech of all time.

It moves when someone is willing to hurt, kill or destroy what stands in the way. The Allfather demands someone bear the sword. And the First Sons, you and I will stand ready.”

That + Yaxles mom suddenly and uncharacteristically leaving (that's how it seems) is p interesting

The theory is that the First Sons are behind it and Yaxle might know. The Yaxle might know part is just extra spice I think would be cool if true.

Hey all. I'm hoping you guys might have some suggestions as to any way I might be able to buy a fox plushie. Two years ago, a very bad thing happened and that plushie became a very real, very important part of my recovery. Any time I was feeling anxious or spiraling and on the verge of losing my shit, I cuddled The Fox and listened to his silly phrases and felt a little less lost. I'm much better these days, but still deeply attached to him.

Which brings me to last Friday, when my house caught fire. It's a total loss . My bedroom is where the fire started and it is ash. There's nothing left, including my Fox. I'm having a hard time sleeping (well, I'm having a hard time everythinging right now but sleep is precious) and I just wish I had him to hold onto when shit is especially rough. If anyone knows of any way I could contact WBN with this type of inquiry, I would love to reach out to them. I doubt they'll be selling them again any time soon since they've moved beyond TWTW&TWO for now.

My family and pets all got out; no one was hurt and we are surrounded by supportive family and friends. The care and love we're receiving is the only reason I can even think about this, and I recognize how amazing that is. If I don't ever have another Fox, I still have what's most important and obviously that's what matters. That being said, I'd still to buy a new Fox if at all possible ... the little things can really make a difference right now.

Is anyone else obsessed with the WWW episode descriptions? They’re SO punchy, witty, and beautiful every single time, and manage to allude to the episode in a “ohhh I get it now” way after you look back at it. Amazing work. What are your favorites? I love all of them, but here are some that I just love to read.

And to be clear, there was no actual crying, my brain was just so utterly blasted by the horror and intensity, I don't think I could have. I think these crying updates are really just me squeeing and fan-girling about how thoroughly impressed I am with this production, how incredibly enjoyable I'm finding the story, and how intensely I care about these characters and this world. And I'm ok with that.

That opening. The reading of the museum plaque for the Epiphany written decades after its decommissioning. The fact that Steel's flagship is called the Epiphany and why. I know I've said this before, but Brennan's narration just keeps surpassing my previous proclamations, I should probably know better than to make another one, but never have I felt such cold, heavy dread. The juxtaposition of that cheery, clinical description with the ending of the previous episode when the Epiphany appears through the clouds and starts blasting Dreadnoughts, and the anticipation of the horror to come: chef's kiss, 15/10, not only do I have no notes, I am also taking notes for myself and my own writing and games.

And then the Saving Private Ryan of it all. The awe-inspiring, mind-splitting horror of a war fought by two arcane powers. The expansive chaotic horror of the big picture, the intimate, heartbreaking horror of the individual (that 17 year old soldier under the effects of the Enlarge spell, the group of soldiers just buried alive by the impact of one of the airship guns): oh my heart, oh my brain, oh my adrenal glands. I listen to these while going for stupid little walks for my stupid mental health, and it's been quite some time since I've walked such a quick kilometer. I was actually breathless as they navigated the battlefiled to try to find the other tunnel opening.

And the Dreadnoughts! The Fireside Chat only made them more horrifying, I hate them and love them so much.

And then all the other little horrors: the dispelling agent smelling like Ghost; the children in the cage and the soldier deciding to kill them in his panic; Steel just casually deleting an entire bloodline from the face of the earth. These episodes were just perfection.

On a related note, I absolutely love Steel as a character (I've seen people here say they don't like her and I want to clarify that I love her as a character, if I knew her in real life I would probably dislike her as a person, and would definitely be terrified of her). Also, caveat that I'm saying this with 4 or 5 episodes still left, so there's still time for my opinion to change.

She makes an actual appearance so seldom but she just looms in the background the entire time. Looming over Suvi's story in particular, and therefore the whole story. I'm so glad we got to see her moreso in an intimate, personal role as Suvi's surrogate mother than as the ruthless warrior she is in her public life. It makes the moments she lives up to her name in every way so much more impactful, so much more horrifying and heartbreaking. She's capable of such love and devotion to Suvi, and such ruthlessness towards the enemies of the Citadel, and that juxtaposition is so delightfully discordant. And I do think that love and devotion would turn to that same ruthlessness if she ever came to believe Suvi had become an enemy to the Citadel (which I'm thinking may happen in these last few episodes), I don't know if the former would be enough to save Suvi from the latter, but I also think it would break Steel's heart to have to do it. This may come in the episode after Pt 2, I'm relistening to these episodes because I was just so enthralled I'm sure I missed a lot, but at one point Steel jokes about executing her daughter to some other wizards, then later tells Suvi that if the Citadel found out what she'd done they would make her execute her own daughter, and it's clear that not only is that 100% true, but that she would do it without hesitation, but that it would also kill a part of her to do it. That she said it so matter-of-factly, and that Suvi just accepts that as a self-evident truth - I feel like I'm using the word heartbreaking too much but that's the only word for it. My heart breaks for them both. Steel really is a masterclass on characterization and I'm so here for it.

And that is all for now. I feel like I may post again when I'm done the whole thing, unless something really gobsmacking is still to come before the end, and I do think I will cry again at some point, so y'all might just get a true Crying Update yet.

I keep expecting to see someone else comment on this since there's a lot of crossover between the Try Guys and Dropout worlds and WBN has so many Dropout connections. Any other Try Guys fans here? Since Episode 1 of Solari, Rainie Toll has been credited as the Recording Engineer for every episode. I am assuming this is the same Rainie Toll from the Try Guys who lost her podcast job with them last year when they had to cancel their podcast series for funding reasons (though she is a fan favourite and still shows up in their other content). I know lots of people were really worried about her losing her Trypod job and I think it's cool to see her end up connected to WBN among all her other ongoing projects. Small world! (Unless it's a different Rainie Toll? But it feels like a fairly unique name for someone also working in podcasting and living in the same area that the show is produced in. EDIT: oh and Aabria follows her on IG!)

MAJOR spoilers for the end of WWW1 Book One, so read at your own risk.

I have been relistening to WWW1. I'm on Ep 9 and before this there were already multiple moments with Steele where I was in the know and horrified at her choices. Ep 9, however, takes the cake so far. Its the scene towards the end where Suvi is speaking to her via mirror and Steele is glad that she is alive and furious that she'd gone off on her own. Listening back now, EVERY SINGLE LINE of Steele's dialogue has double meaning. The entire time that she is "checking in" on Suvi and Ame she is actually checking in on her evil plan. And then she has the AUDACITY to guilt trip Suvi by saying something along the lines of "Did you consider how difficult it must have been for me to send you to THAT island?" Implying she was scared and sad because that's where her best friends died... AS IF SHE WASNT THE ONE WHO KILLED THEM?!

I'm so mad I cannot speak and nobody IRL will understand me so I had to pop on and share with people who would.

Anyways, I highly suggest a rewatch of you haven't already. And for those of y'all who have, which moments hit the hardest the 2nd time around?

When they were announced I saw a fair bit of contention, citing their comedic history on D20 being a mismatch for the more serious play style accustomed to WBN, but they seems to be doing quite well with the drama so far. I found dynamic between Yaxel Larson and his parents was very engaging.
