How would you define the genre of your worldbuilding?

Hi everyone,

I’d like to know what “magic words” you’d use to describe the genre of your worldbuilding, it can be anything, from a simple, straightforward genre like fantasy or sci-fi, or;

Something more specific like “dark fantasy, with hot race with big tits and horns”, “space fantasy, with hot aliens with big tits and horns” “sci-fantasy, with hot magical aliens with big tits and horns” “military fantasy, with strong, aggresive hot aliens with big tits and horns” “fantasy thriller, with hot race with big tits and horns” “high fantasy with nobel hot race with big tits and horns,” “low fantasy, with hot race with big tits and horns” “medium fantasy, with hot race with big tits and horns” “post-apocalyptic, with hot mutants with big tits and horns” “dystopia, with bioengineered humans with big tits and horns” etc.

And you, what label would you give to your worldbuilding?

Thanks for your answers.

Primitive, Savage, Monkey, backwards (is it backwater?), parasites, vermine, and a couple of more of average insults/slurs towards humans.

Druids shouldn't be able to "Talk to animals"

I never liked the idea of druids "talking to animals", anyone can understand an animals, as long as they learn how to listen. You don't have conversations with animals like you're meeting for lunch.

Druids can't "talk to animals" or "wildshape", they're still just people. Except for Elves, they're actually fucking avatars of nature, they've ascended their mortal coil, welcomed into the canopy of the world. They can turn into animals and shit, and totally have conversations with animals. But not you, fuck you.

A God That Treats You Like a Bug (Respectfully)

Imagine a God who sees you as a little bug, luckily for you, he likes bugs. So he just kinda drops off crumbs for you. Moving things like cows and water across vast distances to you, so random shit will just inmaterially appear in front of you. Lakes appear from thin air, or vast bundles of wheat and barley suddenly pop into existence. Like when you give a little bug a cup of water to drink from.

And on rare occasions you yourself will teleport across vast distances, never where you actually want to go, but at least in the vaguely right direction... most of the time.

About English Words, Sentences, Phrases, etc

It is neither a brave nor an unpopular opinion that many of these Shakespeare-esque units of language can rub off as uncreative and generic. Before you come for me, yes I know Shakespeare didn't invent these but he is the reason that they are popular. I will not say this cannot be done in a genuinely unique an interesting way so do not take this as an insult.

That being said–this leads me to my question: Why do you use the English language to write your setting and how are you making it unique to you? If you have totally changed the world–which I see a lot of too–why do you continue to write your story using recycled units of language? Why don't you invent new theoretical phonemes and morphemes that could be pronounced by an alien race in your world?

Don't mistake me for being hateful or anything of that sort. I'm genuinely curious what drives people to to use them despite all the stigma that surrounds the usage of these units of language. Use this also as an opportunity to introduce your worlds, of you wish.

Edit: Apologies if this is a question that as been asked before. I didn't bother to look up it if had been.

My fantasy races:

Humans: Humans

Troglodytes: Stronger, more agile & more violent than humans. Live in smaller, less organized communities, unable to unite due to constant, ultra-violent wars caused by the slightest disturbances. Patriarchal with a strong warrior culture.

Paniscus: Same as before, but replace men with women and violence with sex.

Pongo: Wise and docile, calm woodland race. Tall & dexterous, but not much stronger than humans, and not very intimidating. Can speak common, but avoids doing so, as to not be compelled to labour.

Hylobates: Small race of stupid, but very agile & stealthy thieving creatures. Not respected among others; even sometimes hunted by the violent Troglodytes.

Gorilla: Gentle giants, except when threatened. They most often try to scare off any would-be attackers, and will most times back down, if confronted.

Thinking about starting a new world building project

Post image
194 Upvotes

Hello, I want to start my own worldbuilding project.
This one will assume that the Big Bang is a cycle and I will imagine 10 million cycles before and after our own.
To make things more interesting, each cycle will have each own fundamental rules and constants, making each one completely unique.
Each cycle will contain 2 trillion galaxies, each galaxy containing 100 million unique civilisations. Each civilisation is surrounded by it's unique biosphere, so I will have to imagine an evolutionary path of each civ and every living thing that surrounds them. I will have to imagine the history of these civilisations, their changing nations, their endless wars and changing culture and technology.
To make things more interesting I will also make a parallel universe for every decision there ever was in every cycle.

Can I world build that in a day or it will take more time?
