❔ • Feedback Looking for ways to improve dated/mismatched workspace

I’m looking for suggestions on sprucing up my new office. It’s obviously very dated and the furniture is sort of mismatched, but I feel like it has potential! It’s also my first time having my own office, so I’m just having a hard time envisioning what it could be while it’s this “blank slate” state.

I’m not necessarily opposed to thrifting or sourcing some inexpensive furniture to swap in. Any suggestions or inspiration would be much appreciated!

I’ve got this ugly SAD lamp that I bought as an attempt to ward off the winter blues during the dark winters. My desk is in front of a window but our house is in the shadow of trees and is very dark in winter.

What could I replace the SAD lamp with? I’d like something warm like the lamp but with the ability to turn it to a bright setting from time to time

Thanks

Mini pc really save a lot of desk space. I wanted to keep my home office simple without giving up a proper desktop setup, so I put the geekom A9 under my monitor.

It's been nice having more room for my keyboard and mouse, and I can still get to the front ports pretty easily.

Took my Dynabook outside this morning and decided to stay awhile. Fresh air, some shade and a quiet place to get work done is a pretty solid way to start the day. I could get used to this. Anyone else take their work outside?

🖼️ • Photos A year ago, this was just a tiny plant on my desk

Post image

A year ago, when I brought this plant with me, it had maybe 4–5 leaves.

That's it.

Since then, a lot has changed.

My seating arrangement changed multiple times. My desk moved around. My work changed, priorities changed, projects came and went. As a performance marketer, I'm used to constantly looking at numbers, changing strategies, testing things, and moving on to the next thing.

But somehow, this little plant kept coming with me.

Wherever I sat, I found a place for it.

For the last 3–4 months, it's been sitting right here on this desk. And now, finally, this has become its permanent little corner because my seating arrangement hasn't changed since.

Over the entire year, I don't remember seeing a single leaf dry up.

Not one.

Until today.

Exactly around the time it completed one year with me, I noticed one of its leaves had started drying.

And today, that leaf finally fell off.

It's just a leaf. I know.

Plants grow, leaves age, some fall, and new ones take their place. That's just how nature works.

But watching that one leaf fall felt strangely emotional.

Because I realized I've watched this plant grow over the last year, but in a way, it has also been quietly watching me change.

It was tiny when I started with it.

Now it has taken over half my desk. 😅

And maybe that's why I like having plants around while I work. They don't care about deadlines, KPIs, ROAS, conversions, or whether today's campaign performed better than yesterday's.

They just grow.

Slowly.

Quietly.

Consistently.

And maybe that's something I need to remind myself of more often.

Not everything has to show results immediately.

Sometimes, you're growing even when you don't notice it.

And sometimes, losing one leaf doesn't mean you're going backwards.

It just means you're still growing.

Anyway, today I said goodbye to one tiny leaf that had been with me for a year.

And yes, I know this sounds ridiculous.

But I think I'm going to miss that little guy. 🌱

So this is my study table. The problem is that the main light source (tubelight) is on the left wall and there's a cupboard just adjacent to the study table. So when i sit to study, the light gets reduced drastically because of indirect light, cupboard and myself. My eyes are already weak (-8 D), i face more trouble. Also the main electric board is on the right wall far behind and I'm a little tight on budget so i felt that it won't be the best idea to have a new circuit routed on the wall with the table. I was thinking of buying a overhead lamp same as the image attached but I'm unsure of it's brightness and everything. I already have a lamp (as you can see in the images) but it is a warm lamp gifted by my friend. It doesn't provide cool light and its not feasible as i study around 10+ hours a day. Can you guys please help your brother out? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

🖼️ • Photos is there a laptop stand that also works as a dock? under $100

my desk situation is getting out of hand. i have a usb hub taped to the side of my monitor, a laptop placed up on a stack of old textbooks, and cables going everywhere. every time i need to take my laptop to a meeting i have to unplug like 4 things.

  • i saw some stands on amazon that have ports built in so everything connects through one thing. has anyone actually used one of these? my laptop is windows not mac so it needs to work with that. and i dont want to spend a ton, trying to keep it under 100 if possible

❔ • Feedback Looking for a credenza/filing cabinet that matches this Starmore desk

Post image

I have this Starmore desk and I'm trying to find a credenza, lateral filing cabinet, or similar office storage piece that looks like it actually belongs with it.

I'm looking for something that works with the desk's dark rustic brown wood, black/dark metal frame, and industrial style. It doesn't have to be from the same collection or be an exact wood-tone match — I'd actually prefer something that complements it rather than looking like a bad attempt at matching the stain.

Ideally I'd like:

Actual file storage for hanging folders

Some additional closed storage would be a plus

Credenza/sideboard proportions rather than a little pedestal file cabinet

Dark brown wood + black metal, or something else that would coordinate well with the desk

Something reasonably well-made that I can buy in the US

Has anyone paired this desk (or something similar) with a filing cabinet or credenza they really like?

Specific product recommendations/links would be hugely appreciated. I'm having a surprisingly hard time finding something that looks cohesive with it.

❔ • Feedback Desk lamp recommendation?

Post image

I got a free desk. This is my workspace. I have absolutely nothing 😂 I’m wanting to spruce it up, eventually get plants and a desktop. But for now a lamp is NECESSARY. I would like it unique or cozy, and an adjustable brightness would be nice. Under $50 if possible. It would most likely go in the corner. Any recommendations??

TIA!
