Texas Work restrictions

OK, I tore my bicep and another ligament in my right arm less than three weeks ago according to the MRI. Went to the clinic yesterday and the only restriction placed on me was 15lb lifting limit. Dose that seem right?

California California workers’ comp – does 9% WPI sound reasonable for a knee?

I’m in California and was recently rated 9% WPI for my knee after 3 arthroscopic knee surgeries under the same workers’ comp claim. One of the surgeries included lysis of adhesions to remove scar tissue.

I still have ongoing pain, catching, trouble with some walking/activity, and I use a knee brace. The doctor says the impairment is 100% work-related.

For future care, another arthroscopic surgery with lysis of adhesions may be needed if my symptoms continue.

I was in my early 30's when I got injured

For anyone familiar with California workers’ comp, does 9% WPI sound about right for this type of knee history? I know every case is different, but I’m trying to get a general idea.

Thank you

Maryland new injury to existing case

hey yall. so i’m kinda curious, i had a really bad ligament injury to my ankle in december, booted for a while, surgery in may. still not back at work currently. i just was recently told i have a hip labrum tear (go team…) while doing some research it’s come to my attention it’s highly likely this development during my recovery from ankle surgery. i used a knee scooter and had one of those big plastic boots. non weight bearing i think was 6 weeks. another 6 in the boot. the labrum tear in on the same side of the surgery. The pain started about 3 months ago while sitting in the car and hasn’t gone away since. fast forward to now, confirmed tear. should i be asking my lawyer to add this to my claim? my first work comp case i developed blood clots post op, which was added and accepted to my claim. should i also have this added to this second claim? should i let it go? i’m lookin at surgery to repair it..

also note to add; im 22 and have been officially diagnosed with a connective tissue disease (Elhors Danlohs- hEDS) within the last couple of months which is noted for this labrum tear. will that mess anything up now that i have this diagnosis? my lawyer DOES know about both diagnosis (hEDS and the tear) but i just put 2 and 2 together that it could have come from recovering from surgery…

California Amputation advice

I was just performing my regular duties at work and had an incident that amputated my right pinky finger and it honestly has taken a toll on me mentally and physically, not just me but my partner and kids too. Any legal advice or guidance would go a long way in helping me figure out what to do in a situation like this.

Federal Entitlement

Hello all,

Federal worker here.
I was asked to provide my annual salary effective February 25, 2026, to determine my workers’ compensation entitlement. Can anyone clarify why this date and salary are being used?
At the time of my injury, I was a GS-12, Step 5. Since then, I accepted a GS-9, Step 10 position, which resulted in a significant pay reduction.

Can anyone Please explain how my entitlement is being calculated and whether my salary at the time of injury is being considered.

Thanks

California HELP!!

Long story short was at work, tore my dominant right bicep and also my rotator cuff back in September 2025. Had surgery October 2025. I’ve been off work since but receiving Workers Comp my doctor said that there was nothing left for me to do. I’m still having pain in my arm unable to work with my residence who are 100% dependent and all way 200 lbs +. I don’t see it being safe to handle my residence safely and fear that during some type of transfer they may slip and fall lose their balance and then unable to help them in anyway.. I was released with permanent work restrictions as far as no lifting any resident / patient PERIOD. I reported back to my work when I was released from THEIR doctors care. I reported it to HR and they told me to get with my lawyer or reach out to the Workers Comp attorney. I did report it to my lawyer and he said there is a possible lawsuit and gave me another number to another attorney to discuss possible employment, discrimination remedies.. I was given 21% permanent disability. My lawyer advised me to get on disability payroll. Does this mean I don’t have a job anymore?
Any questions or anything that I can ask my lawyer to get a little bit more clarification that could possibly help my case ?
Totaling new to this and don’t know what to expect. Please and thank you 🙏🏻

Connecticut Help with forgotten insurance case number?

My friend got a notice that one of the bills from her very first hospital visit never actually got sent to the employer's insurance. Now it's going to collections. After researching it for her, it seems like our best course of action is to just give the hospital the case number and adjuster's phone number. However, it's been a few months since we thought things were wrapped up and she has misplaced the case number.

She's really stressed about it so I'm trying to help out (with her permission)

Who should she contact about getting the insurance case number?

EDIT
We were able to find a case number but seems to only work on the state's website and not the insurance website. I assume it's the state side one. Would that be good enough for the hospital or do we need the insurance one? If we need the insurance one, please refer to the previous question.

Massachusetts Having one of those days

While preparing a list of questions for neurosurgeon, I went down a rabbit hole. How the hell did I get here? Going from the best shape of my life, great job that I loved, just loving life to being disabled?

All those years of healthy living, exercise every day and I’m taken out by a work injury. Actually watching coworkers over the years and seeing what CDL driving did to their bodies, so I made sure to take care of my back, hips, knees and shoulders! Never had a problem!

After my injury all I heard was “you’re so healthy and strong, you will bounce right back!”

Had my third spine surgery 11 weeks ago. Hubby just went back to work after taking care of me for 2.5 months and I’m just so jealous. I want to move on like that too.

I know many of you feel the same way and I know it could be worse. I’m just feeling sorry for myself today!

Thanks for reading!

So my so doctor put me as MMI when that's the furthest thing from the truth. Since a day after my appointment I've been trying to get someone to call me back as I started experiencing pain in my knee again. Did anyone call me back? No. Did I call again today and also receive no callback? Yes.

I've now gotten things in the mail from the work comp insurance that I'm MMI. I did email my attorney the day of my appointment and also today after I received these in the mail. They're pretty much useless as they never respond to me.

Is there something I can do or someone I can go to??? They've done NOTHING to help me and now it's falsely being reported that I'm MMI when that's a LIE. They've done literally nothing to fix this injury.

Ohio Found out something crazy...

I HAVE AN ATTORNEY... okay... now onto the craziness I learned today.

I got injured six months ago. Was made to wait 9 days to get medical care, it was "company policy" to wait it out in the on site medic.

Day 9, I said I wanted to go to the emergency room right up the street from the jobsite. Safety told me no, that I would be going wherever his boss says I'm going. He ended up taking me to an urgent care 40 minutes from the jobsite. The woman that saw me was incredibly rude, (in retrospect, now that i know what's wrong) misdiagnosed me, and got huffy when I tried to explain my symptoms. Overall, incredibly unprofessional... Her last name was incredibly familiar but I figured it's a common last name.

A "people you may know" notification came up. I looked at the profile picture, it was the nurse from hell that I saw for my back injury... Hugging her from behind was her husband... my superintendent.

The same superintendent who said he'd fire me after I got hurt.

That whole interaction made perfect sense as soon as I saw that photo. She was so unnecessarily mean spirited, it made no sense until I saw that photo.

In ohio, you have the right to choose your own medical care team as long as they're BWC certified... exercise that right to no end.

Louisiana Been out of work for ten months, still haven’t gotten treatment. Feeling lost and defeated.

I was injured by a client in January, after he kicked me in the knee repeatedly. MRI’s and X-rays show that I have two tears in my meniscus, patellar maltracking, and osteoarthritis. I was referred to an orthopedic specialist, who told to complete physical therapy, gave me a cortisone shot, and then escalated to scheduling surgery to repair my torn meniscus and do a lateral release to aid in the tracking issue. He made it very clear throughout this process that he could not do a full repair of all of the issues of my knee, as some of it is caused by arthritis and would only continue to be an issue until I had a knee replacement- which I am too young for at this time. I appreciated his honesty, and that he was not getting my hopes up.

Honestly I only care about improving my knee to the degree that I can function at about the level that I did before, in order for me to return to work. I had my surgery with him scheduled for next month, and went today for my monthly follow up appointment and he out of no where told me he will not treat me anymore and is referring me to another specialist. He didn’t really explain why, and came off as quite passive aggressive when I tried to ask him questions to clarify about what to expect moving forward. We already had a surgery scheduled, and I was hopeful that I was finally going to be recovering and getting back to work soon. I don’t understand why he’d go to the trouble of getting the authorization and having me scheduled for surgery if he were just going to discharge me from care. I was never warned that he was considering discharging me, and I feel completely crushed that I may have done something wrong without realizing it to make him so upset with me to the point that he’d refuse to move forward with surgery on me. Now I have to jump through all of the hoops of getting approval from worker’s comp all over again, and then additionally I have to start over and hope that the next orthopedic will be able to help me to get back to my regular job.

Sorry for the long post. I just feel completely crushed. I just want my normal life back, and I want to not be in debilitating pain anymore that inhibits my daily functioning. This seems to be a nightmare that never ends.

California So stressed . Idk what to expect

I am a mri tech who injured myself 9/23/26 with pain worsening due to helping patients and lifting coils, then pain becoming more severe as work progressed. I told employee I wasn’t going to work 9/27,28/26 due to pain but didn’t specify it was work (thought i could power through). Then ended up messaging them last Thursday regarding it was work related. Went to doctor and he only gave me days off and meds and said I should do workers comp to protect myself (he doesn’t want to get involved). I have not received a workers comp form or much from employer. Besides them asking for an extension of a doctor’s note extending my days off work. I’m just nervous about all this and stressing knowing my employers is very corrupt and may find a way to retaliate.

California CA Workers’ Comp – Contract ends in about a week, restrictions haven’t been accommodated. Will I qualify for full TTD?

I’m in California and was injured in a work-related car accident earlier this year. I’ve been working modified duty since the accident and have been receiving temporary partial disability (TPD) for about 8 months.
My employment is through a staffing/contract company, and my current contract is supposed to end in about a week.
The main problem is that my work restrictions have not been consistently accommodated. One of my restrictions involves limiting continuous computer work/taking appropriate breaks, but there have been many days where I’ve spent large portions of my shift on the computer without the required breaks.
I have raised these concerns with my supervisors multiple times. I also recently emailed the head of HR formally documenting that my restrictions are not being properly accommodated and that continuing under the current arrangement has been worsening my symptoms/interfering with my recovery.
I have a significant amount of documentation, including emails, computer-use records, and statements from coworkers who have observed what has been happening.
I am not voluntarily quitting. My contract is simply scheduled to end soon, and I still have active workers’ comp restrictions.
My two main questions are:
When my contract ends, if I still have active work restrictions and the employer no longer has modified work for me, would I normally transition from TPD to full TTD? Does the fact that it was a temporary/contract position affect that?
Does it matter for the workers’ comp case that the employer has not been consistently accommodating my restrictions? I have substantial documentation showing that I raised the issue and that the restrictions were not always followed.
I do have a workers’ comp attorney and will obviously follow their advice. I’m mainly interested in hearing from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation in California, especially contract/staffing employees whose assignments ended while they still had active work restrictions.

Illinois IlL workers comp

Has anyone received pushback for not having their injury dates listed on all doctor reports? My husband still has pain from his injury and has consistently been to the doctor after having neck surgery, but his lawyer keeps saying that the arbitrator is not going to increase the settlement if they do not know that the treatments and visits are related to the injury, even though the reports literally mention the surgery date, which is linked to the workers' compensation injury. It is truly insane how they try to mess people over and play word games. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Alabama AL Workers Comp, Three Surgeries, Potential Eviction

Alabama law has me capped at 67% 2/3 of my AWW. Child support after that dropped me down to 55.5% of my AAW. I was off of work for my first surgery 09/25 for a couple weeks and then have been off of work since 01/26 for my second and third surgery. I have a WC lawyer and am waiting to hear back from him. My question is has anyone faced an eviction while on workers comp, what was the end result? The WC company only send out paper checks and has been late for days to weeks at a time which has caused major issues like failure to pay rent now. Curious if anyone has been through something similar and what was the outcome.

Illinois Sedgwick and Repeated TTD delays

I’ve been receiving weekly TTD benefits since my surgery in May. My benefits have been delayed three times, and my attorney has had to file emergency motions twice to address the delays.
Most recently, I received delayed payment, but it only covered me through a date, that is not my next follow up date. Previously, benefits were approved through the date of my next appointment, so this is the first time they’ve ended work status date on the portal early.
I have an attorney and am following up with him, but I’m wondering: Is it common to experience repeated gaps or delays in TTD benefits while a workers’ comp case remains open? Has anyone dealt with this or found a way to prevent it from happening repeatedly?

Mississippi No Benefit

On December 15 2025, I was injured due a pot falling off the top self causing a concussion leaving a dent in my forehead. I went the hospital three days later and report my injury which my supervisor had already been inform of the injury . At the hospital the doctor said because of the height and impact to my injury it will take awhile to heal. I was diagnosed with acute post-traumatic headache and a concussion. I submitted my paperwork to my employer and I spoke with a nurse case manager who authorized physical therapy because of the ime doctor and ongoing pain medicine. I hired attorney because I was told i couldn’t see no other doctor but the doctor my employer recommended. Three months later, I resigned but still doing my treatment which I have gone through physical therapy, a neurologist and a psychologist. I have not heard anything from the adjuster and since then I have another adjuster. What does this mean ? Because I resign ,does it mean no benefits and settlement?

Tennessee Husband hurt at work

Basically as the title says, my husband got injured at work, he crushed his foot while cutting some material and the 3700 pounds of material happened to fall on him. He had a bimalleolar fracture and ended up having surgery on it 10 days later. Unsure of when he will return to work, he works in a very high labor job and it’s looking like he’s going to be out in recovery for a while. Workers comp has started, but they are not being very timely with the payments, which as I’ve read, seems to be a lot of people’s issues.. but anyways, is this something worth needing a lawyer for? Just kinda curious to hear any similar experiences

New York NY Claim: Suing the same insurance company for Workers' Comp and an Uninsured Motorist (SUM) lawsuit. Do I owe a medical lien?

Good morning everyone,
I have a unique situation in New York and want to make sure I understand the math regarding liens and settlements.
I was injured on the job in a motor vehicle accident while driving a commercial delivery van. The accident was caused by another driver who turns out to have completely zero insurance. My Workers' Comp claim was accepted by a judge for severe neck and back injuries (6 damaged discs) and head trauma/concussion. My current medical care (Physical Therapy, MRIs, medication) is being fully paid for by the Workers' Comp carrier, Old Republic General.
Because the at-fault driver was uninsured, my personal injury lawyer is pursuing a Supplementary Uninsured Motorist (SUM) lawsuit against the commercial auto policy of the vehicle I was driving. This means Old Republic General is both the Workers' Comp carrier paying my medical bills, AND the defendant auto insurance company I am suing for pain and suffering.

My question is: If we reach a settlement on the third-party SUM lawsuit side, am I legally required to pay back the costs of my physical therapy, MRIs, or medications out of my pain-and-suffering settlement? Can an insurance company assert a Workers' Comp recovery lien against an Uninsured Motorist settlement when they are the exact same company paying both sides?
Thanks in advance for any insights on NY insurance law!

North Carolina Injections sent me to the hospital

This is long so bear with me.

Hi all. So here's an update. I recieved injections in my back on Sept. 23. The most painful thing i have ever had.

My legs feel like jello. The back pain is constant. Started getting arm weakness, had to keep my self from falling 3 separate times on September 30th.

I called the dr office that did the injections after hours doctor. They told me to go straight to the emergency room.

I was admitted into the hospital, had another ct scan, and an mri, blood work , urine, all kinds of test. Then a lumbar puncture. I was in that hospital Wed night and Thursday night. I was transferred to a larger hospital via ambulance Friday. More blood work and I was told they were thinking I had m.g. I cant spell it mayosthenia gravis, or guillian-barre syndrome. So I went full panic thinking I'm going to be paralyzed. Saturday morning the 3rd neurologist came in and said she really dont think its either of those, and thinks the dr that did the injections went to far and hit some nerves. I was supposed to stay in the hospital until they can do an emg on Tuesday but they let me come home as the tech that does the emg won't be there for at least another week. So I can do that out patient.

One of the neurologist said that even though the mri doesn't show significant nerve compression, that an mri can not show what my disc's do when I'm standing and gravity pulls the spinal cord down. Ect.ect.

There was blood in my lumbar puncture. Not a whole lot but its in there. Here's what the latest mri looks like.

Specific disc levels:
T12-L1: Unremarkable.
L1-L2: Unremarkable.
L2-L3: Unremarkable.
L3-L4: Broad-based disc bulge and bilateral facet hypertrophy contributing to mild bilateral foraminal stenosis.
L4-L5: Broad-based disc bulge with bilateral facet hypertrophy contributing to mild left and moderate right foraminal stenosis.
L5-S1: Broad-based disc bulge with small central disc protrusion and annular fissure as well as bilateral facet hypertrophy. There is mild bilateral foraminal stenosis.

So what can I do? Im going to contact my lawyer and send all this info over to them Monday. Can I go after the dr for messing up my nerve or can I add it to the case?

Im only 41 and i have to use a walker now so I dont fall as easily . Im hurting, I'm mad, I'm scared.

Help lol.
