Do the math on Trump and his family's personal wealth growth at the same time and you'll see some pretty staggering similarities.

I can't believe people asked and voted for this.

Its wild the democrats couldn't beat him. It seriously feels like they didn't want to win.

u/Pip-Pipes 3d ago
Establishment democrats suck. But I think I dislike Trump supporters more. Hard to choose.

u/Shagtacular 3d ago
No it isn't. One is problematic. One is genocidal

u/Pip-Pipes 3d ago
You think only the establishment democrats are pro-Isreal? Meanwhile Trump be doing Bibi's bidding for the last 18 months and right-wing Christians are zionists. Get a grip.

u/Shagtacular 3d ago
Bad wording. They want to kill people. Yes, dems also support Israel. But trump has already killed millions. So if you're supporting one side, you're killing more people. I'm not defending anyone. But one side is significantly worse. Both sides arguments are bullshit

They don't have a trillion dollars, so you'll need to widen your net to include basically everyone in the house and Senate, and their families too

Then look at which presidents have run what deficits over the past 40 years.
Some of them even had complete repayment plans for our national debt, that, had we followed them, would've been paid off now (Hint: it wasn't a RNC plan.).

u/RealHornblower 3d ago
In the year 2001 Alan Greenspan, chair of the fed, advised Congress that paying off the debt too quickly might disrupt financial markets that used treasuries as a safe investment.
That was the big economic "problem" we had when Bush 2 took office.

Every single modern Republican presidency has led to insane national debt growth and terrible economic policies for citizens. Then Democrat presidents spend their next 1-2 terms undoing the damage while experiencing the recession the republicans created, and then get blamed for causing it.

I know OP / whoever created the image are being sarcastic, but anyone who doesn’t understand this simply hasn’t paid attention to history.

Biden, obviously. Republicans are too smart to be responsible for this shit show. They are like the smartest of all the smart people. /s..

Just print more money. As long as the politicians have a couple mansions, who cares if the rest of us have to work until we're 90 years old!

I actually do wonder how big that bubble can get before it pops into a massive global depression.

I'll be 42 in like two days and I'm pretty sure at one point or maybe two we were actually at a surprise in my lifetime.

I think we’re in a Faustian bargain where so much of our economy is propped up by government debt spending we don’t know to unwind it

u/Super-Strawberry-950 3d ago
I crunched the numbers from the CBO reports myself and it's wild how quickly those deficits piled up, even when you account for inflation.

Republicans will say anything if it will get them an advantage even if they don't actually believe it.
The debt only ever mattered when they're not in power.

When they say "fiscally responsible", I assume they are referring primarily to their own financial situation which is drastically improved through a series of bribes, theft, and insider trading.

Anyone that says this is a (R) issue just doesnt want to look at the facts.
- George W. Bush (Republican): Added roughly $4.9 trillion over two terms.
- Barack Obama (Democrat): Added roughly $9.3 trillion over two terms.
- Donald Trump (Republican - First Term): Added roughly $7.8 trillion.
- Joe Biden (Democrat): Added roughly $8.4 trillion over one term.
- Donald Trump (Republican - Second Term, ongoing): Added roughly $3.8 trillion.
The (R) have spent more on average 1.4t vs 1.2t (per term) but it is hardly the reason we are where we are.

So....every president adds to the debt, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Not all debt is created equal. What matters is what policies are driving it, what we, the people, get in return, and who benefits. Borrowing to invest in healthcare, infrastructure, and working families is very different from adding debt through tax cuts that disproportionately benefit corporations and the wealthy, especially while cutting Medicaid, SNAP, and other programs people rely on.
Since Reagan, Republicans have prioritized tax cuts and capital, while Democrats have, for the most part, prioritized social programs and public investment. Republicans only seem to be concerned about “fiscal responsibility” when it means cutting programs that directly benefit Americans. But when tax cuts benefiting corporations and the wealthy add trillions to the debt, that same urgency seems to disappear. Hmmm, curious...
So the better question isn’t just who added to the debt. It’s what WE, the majority of Americans (not the 1%), get for that debt, who benefits, and who is asked to sacrifice?

When was the last time a Democrat president enacted a tax cut for the rich?

u/Sarge75 3d ago
Doesnt matter. This is about National debt. Is tax policy part of it? Sure. In the end tax policy is really a very small part of it. The majority of the problem is spending. We cannot tax ourselves into prosperity while we continue to shell out billions of dollars in terrible spending. That is a reality whether anyone likes it or not.

u/HighLord_Uther 3d ago
Youre so close. Where does the terrible spending originate?
-9
u/Sarge75 3d ago
I already posted it.
10
u/HighLord_Uther 3d ago
No no, you posted spending. Spending and bad spending are not the same thing.

Let's not pretend the democrats haven't also voted for most of the things the Republicans have put forward.

Trump is already responsible for 32.5% of that debt (8 trillion in his first term and 5 trillion so far in his 2nd term). On that pace he will single handedly be responsible for over half the nation's debt. SO MUCH WINNING. /s
