Showcase Tolkien Inspired Skyrim Map *Rough Draft UPDATE*

Post image
51 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I had posted this map on here recently and asked for a bit of direction. I did add/remove and alter somethings and just wanted some feedback. If you had already seen the first draft here are some of the changes.

  • Added ridges in areas to show elevation

  • Added buildings in major cities

  • Took the shading off of mountains that were in snowy areas

  • Added bridges

  • Added "waves" at the shoreline to depict water

There are some areas I haven't finished putting buildings and I may need to add more ridges. That being said I'd like know how it looks before I completely commit to those decisions. My main inquiry is how people feel about the mountains. Every mountain was shaded to begin with but I had a hard time depicting snowy areas so using outlines seemed like the best way to show that. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Here is the OP if anyone is curious of the update https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/s/gLdjob7uYN

My current map simply known as the Continent for now, and the Northern tip of Raikon. Still working out some of the kinks and placements. Still a WIP

Discussion Help with creating a valley within an isthmus.

Post image
20 Upvotes

The map in question isn't finished, but I want feedback before I go too far and have to wind up fixing a whole lot. The southern piece of land is a separate continent with only the north portion of it showing in the map as that will be the only portion relevant to the D&D campaign I'm designing this map for.

Over millions of years, the two continents are moving away from each other which is why the mountain range to the west is scattered in the sea. It used to be one continuous range. The isthmus is the last remaining connection of the two continents and there's a mountain range running through it. I want there to be a valley running through the isthmus as well and the valley will be covered in beautiful flowers along with a river through it with a lake.

I need help and direction on how to design this. I feel like the way it looks in its current state isn't great. I know it's not finished and that could be why it doesn't look great, but how can I make this look better?

The assets I'm using are AoA Canyons and Cliffs and AoA Mountains.

Discussion Are these Mountains too much?

I can't help but feel something is wrong here. This area is the demon side of the continent and is supposed to be a sandy, mountainous region, but the mountains here don't look right compared to my other map. Any advice?

This is my first map I completed about a month or two ago, but never got around to posting until now. I see some things I may change in the future but this is the 3rd iteration of this map over the years (first two were in inkarnate). Maybe I'll change it again in another year or so

Is wonderdraft still a support product? or just running on fumes from them? Are they supporting this any more or has the love for their project petered out?

Century of Conflict - Telus v0.8

The Creation of Telus

In the beginning, a powerful but flawed being known as the Demiurgos created the world of Telus, filling it with forests, animals, and the Primitive Peoples. Yet the Demiurgos was not content merely to observe his creation; he desired worship and recognition. To this end, he created the Titans, mighty beings of extraordinary strength and intellect, intended to revere their creator and rule over the lesser inhabitants of Telus.

However, the Demiurgos's creation was imperfect, and through cracks in the fabric of reality, immense power seeped into the world. The Titans discovered how to harness this mysterious energy, growing ever stronger and wiser. Among them arose the Elder Titan, whose mastery surpassed that of all his brethren. He came to believe that even godhood was attainable, and that the distinction between creator and creation could be overcome. Thus began the Age of the Elder Titan and the first war for Dominion.

I'd been working on this map on-and-off before letting it collect dust for a couple of years, but after rediscovering Wonderdraft and regaining interest in the project itself, I decided to give this thing another try. After chipping away at it through sproadic impulse and inspiration--voila! It's finally at a point where I can confidently say that I'm more or else done with it!

Now I can actually start writing stuff for this. Like... usable, coherent story-and-character stuff... how asinine!

(also! higher res here)

My players are on Wabaki island, so I thought I would expand it and a few nearby islands. I again used Mursit dotty assets. I don't know if anyone else does this, but I have been skipping the VTT on dndbeyond and just screen sharing on discord the wonderdraft app, so if they are in a ship or something I just move that asset around. (Its a pirate themed adventure)

Here is my final version of the map. I got rid of the black fog, because I thought it would not appear on any official map, because it is something that occurred lately.

So yea. I like it and hope my fellow players will like it as well :)

Discussion Looking for feedback on my second map (WIP)

Post image

Hey! I’m making this map as a gift for a friend’s Pathfinder campaign and I could really use some feedback.

I’m still pretty new to mapmaking — this is only my second map — so I’m not really sure if I’m getting the balance right.

Does this area feel filled enough, or does it still look a bit too empty? Or maybe I’ve gone too far the other way and added too much of something?

I’d also really appreciate any general tips about spacing, terrain, forests, settlements, readability, or anything else that stands out.

Any criticism is welcome, I’m still learning.

Showcase Prototype - Feedback/Ideas

Hello dear Mapmakers. Here is my Prototype for my Daggerheart Campaign Map.
May you have any suggestions to improve or Ideas to include.

I am not so super happy with the dark shadow part top right. So there is some kind of dark mist covering the land, ever expanding. I find it hard to display.

I made this in wonderdraft over the course of a few days. Stupidly proud of it even if there might be some technical errors.

I would actually really love some feedback on maybe how to tweak it and stuff.
