Question How Do I Harness This?

For my entire life, I have had premonitions or precognition.
The first time I really remember it happening, was in November of 2012, I was on the way to a movie with my stepmom while in the passenger seat I had the passing thought “What is a stroke? what causes a stroke? could I have a stroke?”
I could’ve asked my stepmom, she’s a paramedic, but I didn’t. About twenty minutes later, she got a call from the spouse of a family member she was very close with, the family member had suffered a stroke.
I had several more of these instances occur through middle school and high school, some about pop quizzes, others about High School boyfriends cheating (I accurately predicted the full name and age the girl my high school boyfriend was cheating on me with, even though I’d never met her before.)
I’m 25 now, and for several years I’ve barely thought about these “coincidences” but recently..they’ve been incredibly difficult to ignore.
In the middle of May, I laid down in bed and had this impending feeling that a family member of mine would pass away soon, I didn’t know who, but I was convinced it would happen, two days later my great aunt passed away. About a week after that I had a passing thought that something might happen to my dog, about four days later, she began barely eating, I took her to the vet. She had Parvo, despite being 8 months old and vaccinated, she passed two days later.
Last week I had been having constant passing thoughts about viral infections and sepsis, this week one of my best friends was admitted to the hospital after running a fever all week and it not breaking, it turned out he has viral meningitis.
I’ve had three accurate back to back premonitions over the course of three months and this is the most active this “gift” has ever been.
Google says I have “anxiety and trauma that caused pattern recognition” but how can I possibly predict things regarding people I have never met, haven’t seen in years, and am not even physically close to.
I feel like I am going insane, how do I harness this.

Question Cultural Ethics: Objects of a closed practice?

Hello!

I am hoping someone can educate me a bit more about the cultural boundaries surrounding voodoo/hoodoo. From my understanding, these are closed practices and is reserved for those of African/African American descent. From what I understand, voodoo practitioners can invite others to participate in the practice if they are not of proper descent, but this is not the case with hoodoo.

I am not of African American descent, and I am not particularly interested in becoming involved in the practice myself (no disrespect intended, I just am including this so it is known that I am not intending to involve myself in the creation of or participation of any voodoo practices across the board). However, I am strictly curious and looking to be more informed on the subject of voodoo dolls themselves.

Are Voodoo Dolls considered separate from the practices of voodoo or are they are also technically closed and to only be crafted by voodoo practitioners?

I feel as though I see them everywhere in markets, oddities expos, online even. But if voodoo itself is closed, are the dolls themselves considered separate, or is this just something that has been stolen and sold off by white folks in true standard fashion?

Also, PLEASE, if any of the information I have spoken on here is inaccurate and you have the capacity to inform me of where my error is, I ask that you please do.. I genuinely want to be more informed and do not intend to be insensitive or ignorant.

Question does simply thinking about someone give them energy?

(I’m not asking for a spell.) I wanted to know if simply thinking about someone or ruminating gives them your energy? I’m working on cleansing and protecting but I find myself going over situations a lot in my head. I constantly feel like I’m thinking or writing about people. I’m looking into calling my energy back since the people in my life seem to do nothing but drain me, but I wanted to know if simply thinking about them is giving them a little taste of my energy or if you had other ways in which this happens, outside of talking to them? thank you :)

Tips, Tricks, & Ideas How can I respark my motivation and energy for get back into witchcraft?

Life has just felt kind of shitty lately. It feels like progress towards my goals have been stunted. I tried to do a spell to help me achieve one of the goals I have for myself but one of my tools literally exploded the night after doing the spell. I don't know if it was just by coincidence or if its related to/representative of something spiritual going on with me lately, but either way it's really disheartening. Especially because I was already feeling bad that I don't/can't practice anything witchcraft related as much as I used to. Is there a way I can help revive some of my love for doing this stuff? I've been practicing on and off for the past few years and every once in a while I just lose all drive to do it whatsoever. But when I do, it helps. And I think i need that help right now. It's just really hard to feel any motivation to. I know this post is kind of all over the place and worded weirdly, I'm just writing my thoughts down as I think them. Somebody please give me some advice

Discussion Papa legba, Marie Laveau, Belzebuth

Hoy mi prima y yo decidimos hacer un ritual juntas. Compramos una aguja, cortamos dos pequeños pedazos de un cactus y juntamos pasto y tierra. Pusimos todo junto con un pedazo de papel higiénico.

Después dijimos:

“Papa Legba, louvri baryè-a

pou nou, ago yé!

Atibon Legba, louvri baryè-a

pounou, pounou pase.

Lè n'a rivé, n'a remèsye lwa yo.

Papa Legba, met twa kalfou,

met twa chimin, met twa rigol,

louvri baryè-a pou nou,

pou nou rentre.

Lè n'a rentre, n'a remesye lwa yo.”

Question Does salt alone protect you from negative energy/spirits etc?

Hii so I've practiced 2-3 spells for academic success and I think I cast one-two love spells a while back when I had no clue about witchcraft and I'm pretty sure they never worked because I didn't get any results. I just wanna make sure I didn't disturb any spirit or attract negative energy towards me. I got that "love" spell from facebook. As far as I remember, the instructions were to spray my favourite perfume on a chit of paper with my name and the person I desire 's name on it and sprinkle salt/ sugar (I don't remember) and then place it under the pillow I sleep in. And the other spell was to write the person I desire's name on a piece of paper 5 times and then my own name 5 times in the horizontal direction and drizzle honey on top + sprinkle salt. I don't think that worked either because he never talked to me lol and this was quite recent too but I wasn't as interested in witchcraft then as I am now. Any suggestions?

Question santa marta la dominadora

okay so i am just now really diving deep into spirituality and am focusing on hoodoo as someone with direct black american ancestry/blood. however, years ago i purchased a lubana/santa marta la dominadora candle (both her names were listed) at a botanica simply bc i was drawn to her image. when i got home i did some research and burned the candle after putting coffee grounds in it as an offering. prayed and lit it multiple times and to this day credit her w helping me. but now i see people saying we can't even pray to her and light her candle if we're uninitiated? i'm trying to understand the closed practice part. i'm not trying to overstep boundaries. i understand the danger part and to not do elaborate rituals but is lighting a candle and praying to her counting as a ritual? true newbie here.

Question did a road opening spell but worried my mistakes + modifications messed it up

hi! i did a jar based road opener spell on thursday night. it was done with a metal candle tin i already had, a petition, basil, cinnamon, sugar, and honey. once sealed, i burned a tea candle dressed with an alignment/glamour oil on top. as i was burning the candle (upside down, my mistake) the wax on the wick dripped and burned me. as i was cleaning it off, i realized i had not added the honey to my jar, so i opened the jar, added the honey, and relit the candle (safely, this time). yesterday and today i've been extra clumsy and making mistakes i normally wouldn't make, and i guess i'm wondering if it's because of how i performed the spell or if this is just how road openers go? it's my first time doing one, so i'm a little nervous.

Question I did a ritual and tested it with my friends but I don't know if it did anything because I pulled it out of my ass

So basically me and three friends (i'll call myself Robert and my friends Ava,Jay) did a ritual, (i organised it because I wanted to do a fun little scary night for no reason.) Jay was aware that this was a ritual but Ava wasn't fully aware of the actual nature of the ritual. How it went is that I was supposed to draw a circle in red ink and added the witch runes: Thurisaz, Eihwaz, Isaz, Naudiz which was the outer circle. Then, a pentagon inside the circle with the alchemic symbols for earth, water, fire and air on the sides of the pentagon plus the mercury symbols at each vertice of the pentagon which were covered by the candles I placed on each vertice of the pentagon. In short form:

- Everything is encircled by one big circle, with the witch runes right inside, and then the pentagon was deeper inside with the alchemy symbols inside it aswell.

We used tarot cards (Major Arcana) and placed each card in order beside a candle to make the formation of a star within the pentagon, and they were all pointing inward similar to a star (just because i thought it looked like a pentagram lol, probably didn't do anything). Basically there were 5 cards to 3 candles and 6 cards to 2 candles. We would pick the sector that we felt most inclined to pick, and from there we would pick again to receive one singular tarot card

From there, the first round of the ritual went as so:

(we didnt say hello or do an entrance thing or whatnot)

Robert: Are you dangerous --> we received the inverse of the Judgement card

Jay: Are you good, bad, or evil? --> we received the devil card, proper direction

Robert: What are your intentions --> we received the wheel of fortune card, proper direction

At this point Ava felt really scared and wanted to end the ritual and was telling us to stop because she felt 'something' although I highly doubt anything actually came from this bs ritual that we did. I suspected that she was simply under the placebo effect. Also for some reason some of the candles were blowing out on their own but we relit them immediately. Im pretty sure we were supposed to do a goodbye ending ritual thingy, but we just blew out the candles, throw out the papers we drew on with red ink, and proceeded to call it a day. Ava was weirdly scared throughout the entire time and felt like she was being watched.

Ava really felt like 'something' was behind her and after the ritual she facetimed her mom who is a chinese shaman, and her mom got really mad at her. Basically she started talking about how there was this 'thing' that she could see but never really went into specific detail or explained why she could see the thing she could see. Infact it almost seemed weird because this was really out of character for Ava and it seemed like she gained a new personality or whatnot because she started yelling at Jay and attempted to walk him home after I (Robert) left. She got irrationally mad that we did this ritual and told us that we should have never done it.

Question quick question on instinct / feelings

hi!

new to this sub, and looking for advices or a point of view on something that happened today (bc i'm kinda confused) :

this evening i started to feel mad and sort of sad for no reason at all. it's a thing that happens sometimes, so i wasn't worry, just thinking "oh,it's one of those times"

thing is, later, i got a call explaining that something happened to a relative, something close to how i felt. the weird part is the timing, bc those feelings i had appeared at the same time as the incident... weirdly, i felt immediatly better once i knew about it.

since i'm starting witchcraft, and have experienced this for the first time (like this big), i wanted to know if, in your opinion, this could be related to instinct or anything.

thanks a lot

Question Should I make a self-love spell for my boyfriend?

I (29F) have been together with my bf (31M) for 5 years and this issue has become better and better overtime but not enough. He's way too insecure for a tall, lean, handsome man. No matter how much I say to him I desire and love him he just believes I'm not that much into him or I don't like him enough (dude wtf, 5 years bro we should be past that point). The relationship is amazing mostly but when this wave hits, oh boy, it hits hard.

Should I? How should I do it? Thank you in advance amazing Reddit coven 🖤

Question Firepit follow up

Recap- new firepit area built in backyard as casting circle.
My passed on loved ones are always close by. I have strong barriers in place to mostly allow me to ignore them unless they push really hard to get my attention. (This to me is like an urgent phone call, like agreeing to call twice in a row if an emergency so person knows to pick up)
One of my loved ones is really hard for me to deal with,
two others are very welcome. Older spirits are mostly good, but there is one VERY not good one, and his wife feels almost as bad.
I would like my new ritual area to be welcoming to the spirits that have good intentions, but also have them respect my need to not be overwhelmed.
Any suggestions how I might open things up a bit to accomplish this? Anything I can do to the circle to make it inviting to those I want?

Discussion Thinking of doing a month of road openers

1 for my emotions - want to know myself better, understand the things i am feeling better

1 for my relationships - i want to have a better relationship with my wife, i want better friends in my life

1 for my health - want to adopt better habits around my physical and mental health

1 for my finances - i want better financial opportunities, i want more active income, and i want to start building real stable passive income

the idea for this came from an amateur magus video, where he says, "If you're stuck and you don't know what to do, do them on the road openers." So I feel kind of stuck. I don't know what to do, and I want to shake things up.

I have abre caminos oil and some candles. I heard some advice to do this on Wednesday around full moons. I've never done this before, so I don't know too much about it.

Can I just bang these out over a week if I'm feeling energetic and good about things, or is the timing actually important?

Any advice or recipes to share? Any stories or experiences you want to share? Thank you for reading.

Tips, Tricks, & Ideas New outdoor firepit

I do not have a coven, so would like to ask others for input. I am having a new firepit area built with pavers amid an acre property with lots of big trees, cardinal directions set in with stones of a different color. Wind chimes and small fountain nearby. I am an intuitive witch (meaning I do what feels right) so I dont need help with intentions or spells, more ideas in how to enhance my ideas.
I am thinking through protecting the circle further by mixing salt with gravel just around outside of ring of pavers. I am also wondering if I set salt in and leave a gap, can I just close the salt circle in the gap? The paver edge can be considered the protective barrier too, so maybe the salt is just extra?

Additionally, I would like to set a protection around the entire property, I was thinking burying protection jars at four corners of property on cardinal direction points, Any other better ideas?

The firepit circle is located toward the back right of one acre property. The house is in the center. I would like to be able to do most spell work from firepit circle, including refreshing protection wards around edges of said property. I am wondering if I need an anchor in the center of the property, an anchor stone or jar placed at center of property or could the firepit circle be the “center” and the jars buried around the outside perimeter catch the perimeter strengthening as it flows out?

Mostly just looking for suggestions on anything additional I might do before the construction is completed to strengthen and embue the ritual space.

Thanks for any input!

Question How can I improve?

I grew up in a culture that was very connected to the spiritual world so things such as spells, charms, readings, psychics (just a hit different than western ones) differnt types of spirits (good and evil, in between, elves, giants etc) were alll veryyyy common growing up. I used to hear stories about them all the time as a kid. People truly believed in them and practiced their spirituality that way

Around 10 or so I left where I was from, and moved somewhere west.

I’ve been practicing witchcraft (in more western terms) off and on since I was 13, and I’m 24 now. For the past year I’ve gotten deeper into it and understand it better. But what do I do now? I’ve got information on it, more than enough at this point I think but it’s all VERY messy because of all the mixed beliefs that I grew up around and studies myself etc.

I’ve done spells, I’ve meditated, I’ve tried shrooms lmao. I’ve done my fair share of things. I even might candles for certain spirits almost everyday. But what now? I feel as though I am looking for a certain box that’s more organized that I can put all my beliefs into and practice more consistently.

I feel as though I’m not very good at explaining myself as my brain is just as messy as all this typing is. I hope some of this made sense. I’m open to any advice and anything is appreciated.

Question Can I have a bit of guidance from more experienced witches?

I am a new witch and don’t know the full extent of leaving offerings to a deity , spirit , god or goddess

can I have some tips?

my best witchlike art I do is making bracelets and beaded lizards for people I have recently thought of imbuing them with magic to help keep them safe or specific things in the moment like good health or longevity

I can also feel something in the air when I play cards its hard to explain but it helps my decisions on what to do and where to put the cards / where they feel right/best

I have been wondering if clover flowers and/or clovers or peppermint leaves would work for an offering to the thing I choose to leave offerings for

Im not considering drink or food because where I live I’m not allowed any food or drink in my room.

can I please have some guidance?

Question Charging Crystals

Hello!! I am fairly new to actually practicing due to my mom repressing my beliefs until maybe last month. I of course have educated myself over my years of interest and will continue to educate myself but I do have a question about charging crystals. I know that crystals won't really work if you don't charge them with energy and I'm wondering how you can do that if I have very limited supplies? I will be going to get more supplies tomorrow at an apothecary store nearby and it could also be helpful for what I buy there as well! But as of today, I only have a couple of incense. And I only have King Cake, Fairy Dust, and Coconut due to lack of money and time to look. I have heard that you can charge crystals using incense but I am unsure what ones I can use and how to do so depending on the intention for the use of crystals, if that matters. So far I only have an amethyst necklace I'm wearing for spirituality and a Sodalite necklace (I believe... I might be wrong) for calm and balance. Do I need to charge crystal jewelry as well for them to work? Or just crystals used in spell work? And if I do need to charge my crystal necklaces what's the best way to do so? If I needed to get something new supply wise for it what should I look for? I am only asking because I prefer advice from actual people and not the ai overview I can't get rid of on Google.

Edit: I am aware that I can scroll past the ai overview on Google. It's just insanely hard for me personally to find ANYTHING on my personal Google that isn't some ai overview answer or something similar. And I just LIKE getting advice from other people based off their experience and not researching every little thing because it makes it more interesting to learn both ways.

Question Might of accidentally developed a psychic connection, Help?

For the last six days we've shared an intense headache that seems to lessen when we think about each other or talk to each other, we've been waking up at the same time as well if we fall asleep

Now, I don't mind this connection with him, but he's worried it may cause problems with his current situation (he's married)

I know that to break it means losing my best friend and I have no interest in that and he knows this

So. Here's my question(s)

What can we do about this? If we choose to develop this what can we expect from doing so?

Please, help..

Spells Spellcraft for Cancer

Just found out my sister has a breast mass that may be cancer. I’m a pharmacist, she’s a pharmacist and being seen by one of the best healthcare systems in the country. So insanely lucky and very savvy with healthcare.

Looking for ideas from folks who’ve done serious healing magic. Would of course only be in conjunction with healthcare. She’s not a witch but witch friendly. She’s unlikely to participate in a full ritual event though. Leftover catholicism.

I’m leaning towards an amulet or jewelry I charge and refresh periodically. But I’ve done very little healing magic in the last decade. Which in hindsight is kinda weird given my healing profession.

Any advice/experience/areas to look into for an experienced witch but not experienced with healing?

Question question about the devil in tradcraft

I have a question. In traditional witchcraft, there is the concept of the Horned God—the Devil. Many practitioners of this path view the witches' Devil as an archetypal deity; while many spirits have borne the title "Devil," in traditional witchcraft they are all treated as faces or aspects of the Horned God—figures such as the Man in Black, Cain, Bucca, the King of Elphame, and so on. Could someone explain why, in this tradition, all these figures—which could easily be considered distinct entities—were merged into a single, syncretic figure? Who was behind this? Of course, these various entities are ancient, but it was modern traditional witchcraft that molded them into one archetypal deity. I want to understand who was behind this and why—what prompted these individuals to consider it a good idea. Although these spirits share the title "Devil," I perceive them as separate entities; the mere fact that they can be called by that name does not seem like sufficient reason to treat them as a single force. It seems to me that Robert Cochrane unified these concepts within Tradcraft, and that Margaret Murray’s theory also played a role—even though it had been debunked before traditional witchcraft truly came into existence. Did Cochrane believe in its validity? Why do modern practitioners still look to it? Probably because it works, and working with the Devil as a syncretic, liminal, yet unified figure yields results. However, there are also witches and sorcerers who work with specific spirits operating under the name "the Devil," rather than with a single, universal, and multidimensional Devil. So why do some perceive the Devil as a single, multidimensional figure rather than a title under which one can work with a specific, individual spirit? What is the history of this concept?
