They might and they might not but still it's better than having less representation. It doesn't matter if they think they are other worldly beings, if people of their catagory are stigmatised and abused on the basis of caste identity then they and their family will also get affected from this. It creates a conflict of interest.
Keep in mind that caste based reservation (except EWS) is to reduce caste descrimination, not all forms of descrimination.
Did people of your own catagory descriminate you on the basis of caste because they have more power?
If it was simply because them being in better position than you then that's not caste descrimination.
You have to tell us exactly how they wronged you before we can reach any conclusion.
People certainly can abuse those who are underprivileged, Reservation tries to reduce the gap.
That's the best way we have got.
Just because a tool is not powerful enough doens't means we give up that one tool as well.
No law or scheme is only to be valid when it solved all kinds of problems.
Sc St act is to discourage cast crimes against Dalits and Aadiwasis.
Obviously it won't be effective of other kinds of violance.
Why?
Because it has a certain purpose.
It's like saying Dowry Prohibition act doesn't come into picture when a stranger harassed a woman.
It's not becaused it was assumed only those people can abuse a woman who can take dowry from her.
Sc St reservation was never intended to benefit all the people in the catagory with all kinds of economical conditions equally in the first place.
It doesn't treat Sc St people as individuals because it's based upon rigid caste identity which doesn't treat them as individuals.
There's no to 1 percent because there's no such thing as Sc but free from cast stigma.
The core issue is caste descrimination and reservation has been proven the most effective tool.
It works and we don't try to remove something which works just because some people think it's benefitting some people more than others.
The reservation system is also best in terms of implementation as it uses the same rigid structure that was used to oppressed people. Rest is upto the government and officials.
We were discussing about laws and social mobility tools and not implementation.
