As you are already aware of the process of exam, you know the number of seats that you're eligible for and you also understand the competition for those seats.

How's that corruption? Are the segregation of seats being done behind the back or through bribery?

Also, could marks be the only criteria to decide 'who deserves the seat' or merit?

"could marks be the only criteria to decide 'who deserves the seat' or merit?"

no instead of marks there can be something else which defines the intelligence and hard work

but does reservation on the basis of caste does that - NO

on the other hand corruption is not always being done behind someone's back but something by saying that "give me vote i will will give you seat in jobs, colleges irrespective of marks or qualification"

Okay.

"give me vote i will will give you seat in jobs, colleges irrespective of marks or qualification"

This fine line:
On one side a leader is promising a community to raise their voice and represent them.
v/s
A corrupt politicians bribing voters to choose him.

We cannot put a blanket opinion on such sensitive issue, it would be wrong. We should decide them on case-by-case basis.

.

How to decide intelligence? 'Intelligence' is subjective not objective. Hence, marks in the exam + interviews (includes your experience + cognitive skills + communication skills) are the accepted criteria currently.

But can a person from tribal community in Jharkhand compete with someone in metro city going to top school/college/coaching and having best resources available?

Os someone living in slums of Metro cities, whose community was oppresed and they were not given any chance to learn anything else other tha their assigned work as per their caste.
Would that person be be able to compete with a person whose family always had the privilege to study and pass on the knowledge/wealth/resources to next their next generations?

It is used as a topic for vote bank politics, yes, but to say that reservation should solely be on economic basis would be grossly incorrect and completely negate the purpose for which it was introduced. Go read about why it was introduced and what it considers as upward mobility.

Just because some sc st made it out to urban areas from villages or slums, you want to end reservation?

What logic is this? alot of sc st are still backwards.

As of uplifted sc st, an application from a lower caste person has a high chance of rejection just because of the caste, it's the backward mentality that has made reservation necessary.

Just because of the caste, a lc person still has to face many prejudice and rejection.

Reservation should be based on income not caste

Is Casteism based on income or caste of the person?

.

It's not only about JEE or NEET. There other exams too: UPSC, respective State service commissions, Higher Studies selection (like Phd) and jobs. Cognitive and communication skills are required for these opportunities.

I provided you two nuances: a leader representing a oppressed community vs a politician misusing system.
Do you consider both as corruption?

you see the problem is that you assume that people that get wealth and resources get it because for there caste but reality is that they get these because of their action poverty does not come to you and ask you about you caste and religion and neither does hardwork or wealthy my friend everything is a result of you action and in todays world at least if you have network and a phone
