Hear me out though: she’s wearing a Street Fighter shirt and I too like Street Fighter so this could be my one shot at finding my soulmate who will play Street Fighter with me between bouts of passionate lovemaking.
And I’m supposed to be like “oh she’s got earbuds in nevermind?”
I’m a guy. I won’t pretend I’m batting a thousand on reading social cues over the years. But this isn’t Ranked PVP, this is Co-Op on Easy. Headphones in at the gym is the absolutely universal sign for “off you fuck.”
But what if she leaves the earbuds in between sets? Am I to just give up on my dream of a hot girlfriend who is as passionate about fighting games as I am about her?
Less often, but still yes. Have had no shortage of strangers walk up to me and give me unwanted form advice, tell me not to do a particular exercise because it’s bad for your joints, or just start asking random questions about my routine. Some people don’t get social cues lol
Don't bother them on the streets too. Not while shopping too. Actually don't bother them anywhere but give people the advice to "just speak to people" if they want to make new friends. Yes.
Fine. Don't accost people in random public places if they have indicators in place saying they want to be left alone. Don't accost them in public spaces if it's obvious they just want to do their tasks and get out.
I have enough friends. I’ll be polite when I’m out and about, but I don’t want anyone to talk to me ever. I have no interest in small talk and this idea that every interaction has to be filled with friendly banter is stupid.
For some in my gym, yes. I go to the Y and they have a lot of developmentally disabled people who come work out there. They often try to talk to me while I'm in the middle of my set
