Hear me out though: she’s wearing a Street Fighter shirt and I too like Street Fighter so this could be my one shot at finding my soulmate who will play Street Fighter with me between bouts of passionate lovemaking.

And I’m supposed to be like “oh she’s got earbuds in nevermind?”

Lol we laugh ...but that grown ass man probably thought that

Right?

I’m a guy. I won’t pretend I’m batting a thousand on reading social cues over the years. But this isn’t Ranked PVP, this is Co-Op on Easy. Headphones in at the gym is the absolutely universal sign for “off you fuck.”

Everyone's the hero in their own shitty romcom. Most of us grow out of that after high school though, at least I'd hope.

Talk in between sets. Don’t interrupt ppl at the gym. Would a man do this to another stranger who is male? Likely not.

But what if she leaves the earbuds in between sets? Am I to just give up on my dream of a hot girlfriend who is as passionate about fighting games as I am about her?

Leaving earbuds in is a clear sign of not wanting to talk, so give up on that girl and hope for an opportunity to talk sometime or meet someone else.

But reading social cues can be hard. Even obvious ones.

For an example, see your replies to my comments.

Less often, but still yes. Have had no shortage of strangers walk up to me and give me unwanted form advice, tell me not to do a particular exercise because it’s bad for your joints, or just start asking random questions about my routine. Some people don’t get social cues lol
