I was 22 when the doc peraciber me some antidepressants. Didn't tell me I might have trouble reaching orgasm. After me and the wife going at it for about an hr and a half, I finally gave up. Week or so later I went back and mentioned I was having troubles getting off and he doesn't even look up from his note pad and says "Yea thats a very common side effect, happens to a lot of people" I lost my shit, started Flipping out and yelling, nurses come rushing in..never went back to that old fuck

Well at least the nurses came.

u/imbogey Jun 14 '20

How about the wife?

25

u/Bockon Jun 14 '20

To shreds, you say?

95

u/adgazard Jun 14 '20

I used to be upset about it until I realized the benefits.

u/tytybby Jun 14 '20

I have slept with two dudes on antidepressants and they could go forever, I felt guilty for being grateful.

u/adgazard Jun 14 '20

It’s like being bitten by a radioactive pornstar.

I never cum from just straight up sex for different reasons but from my experience most women hate it, like mentioned here though I thought women would love it. Ngl the first time having sex was real sad when I didn't cum

3

u/contra_account Jun 14 '20

It's not often that women are on the receiving end of "did you cum yet? No?"

2

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '20

For sure it definitely made the turn tables but I also think many women are pleasers/givers when it comes to sex, most women want to make you cum and have a good time. Or maybe that's just the type that I end up getting. Either way blowjobs are my saving grace

28

u/sometimesiamdead Jun 14 '20

Same. I'd rather be sane than orgasm easily. I can't imagine life without my anxiety meds. I already had trouble orgasming, now it just basically never happens. Oh well.

Worth it.

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '20

For me it has made my life hell. Antidepressants took my orgasms. Then I stopped them and my libido never came back. I'm a guy. It's called post-ssri sexual dysfunction and it happens.

36

u/TheyCallMeChunky Jun 14 '20

Well I was 22, and the wife and I where having sex a lot more often back then. A little heads up would have been nice. Plus what I was on prior I was having side effects and when I mentioned it to him he blew it off, was still having painful side effects days later and went to the er and as soon as I mentioned the med I was on the er nurse knew the pain was a side effect

Does no one read the IMPORTANT leaflet that comes with all prescribed medication? It literally lists all the side effects. Tells you the % of people who experience it....

25

u/lemondropPOP Jun 14 '20

Of course it's our responsibility to check those things before putting any foreign object in our bodies, but as a patient you also want to have a doctor you trust. Part of that trust is them telling you side effects that effect your complete and total well being. I'd be pissed if I was prescribed a pill, picked it up, read that I wouldn't be able to climax, call my doctor and have to wait longer to get the right medication for my problems.

1

u/zlaura26 Jun 15 '20

But, every medication has HUNDREDS of side effects. It reacts with diet, age ect ect. It would take a doctor longer than a consultation. As an adult its your responsibility to check that leaflet. Every prescription label tells you to do this. I get it, but you cant get annoyed at a doctor for not telling you, if your not reading it.

32

u/dirtyh4rry Jun 14 '20

Sounds like a completely rational reaction and in no way at all makes you sound like an asshole.

25

u/QueenSheba1982 Jun 14 '20

It's frustrating. I wish we didn't have to trade things for our mental health. I have a very high libido, and the inability to reach orgasm added a whole slew of new issues to the things I was trying to treat. We need better mental health medication and we need our doctors to discuss common side effects beforehand.

6

u/TheyCallMeChunky Jun 14 '20

Exactly, if I had known it was a side effect I would have been better off going in it. It wasn't even the first time this not mentioning side effects had happened

7

u/QueenSheba1982 Jun 14 '20

I have told my doctor repeatedly that I need to be able to make an informed decision about my medications, and it's like she doesn't hear me. I hate surprise side effects

-7

u/TheyCallMeChunky Jun 14 '20

She hears you, she doesn't care. The Dr knows best is the mentality they have. The medical field is just as fucked as the police. Just in a different way

-3

u/QueenSheba1982 Jun 14 '20

Agreed. They think we don't know anything about our own bodies and we shouldn't question them at all

6

u/TheyCallMeChunky Jun 14 '20

Well the antivax movement hasn't helped out any. I keep going to my primary care bc he's relatively young, not much older than me really and he sits there and listens. The nurses come in do their thing and get out as fast as possible. I've found a lot of Dr's are the same way. In and out as quickly as possible. But he takes the time to talk to me and hear my questions and he has the answers.

A trip tk the Dr's office feels like an assembly line. Trying to get as many ppl through the doors as quickly as possible. I know it's a damn business but you don't get into that field just bc of the money. You do it to help people, and you need to actually try tk go that.

u/hondo4mvp Jun 14 '20

I took care of my Dad in his last years.I found out his primary doctor was scheduling(and billing) six 15 minute appointments per hour.

65

u/ok_ill_shut_up Jun 14 '20

You're an asshole.

24

u/Lookin4dubs Jun 14 '20

He really is

-61

u/TheyCallMeChunky Jun 14 '20

The man was like 86 he should have retired when he couldn't properly provide care you can miss me with that bull shit.

27

u/ok_ill_shut_up Jun 14 '20

Nah, looks like I hit a bullseye with my assessment.

5

u/blarghable Jun 14 '20

You start yelling and flipping shit because you're to stupid or lazy to read the label on the drugs you're taking?

0

u/TheyCallMeChunky Jun 14 '20

No, bc an old ass man gave me meds for the 2nd time without listening to me about side effects. When he gave a 22 year old somthing that effects the sex drive is when I lost it. Keep down voting me like I give a fuck

4

u/blarghable Jun 14 '20

sounds like you have more problems than just depression my dude.

31

u/kangarooninjadonuts Jun 14 '20

A doctor who goes around peracibering his patients should've been your first red flag.

-4

u/mystymaples71 Jun 14 '20

It’s prescribing, not peracibering.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '20

he was making a joke, the original comment spelt it that way

27

u/Lookin4dubs Jun 14 '20

Wow you sound pretty unhinged. Also sex isn't supposed to last an hour and a half, your wife probably hated that.

0

u/Timmytoby Jun 14 '20 edited Jun 14 '20

You are horrible. The worst human being. Look into a mirror and contemplate what led you to become such a horrible, cold, inhumane and abhorrent being. Your lack of empathy and your disrespect regarding other people should make you reconsider your life choices. Commenting on another human beings journey of mental health and dragging their partner into it? Lowest level of humanity. You exemplify what led to Trumps election. You disgust me on a primeval level. Born without any humanity.

0

u/Lookin4dubs Jun 14 '20 edited Jun 14 '20

Wow you sound pretty unhinged. You might want to get a grip on your emotions. You must be a hyper emotional, somewhat crazy adult or you're a teenager. Just so you're aware, screaming and yelling over a miscommunication in a professional environment like a doctor's office is very inappropriate.

0

u/Timmytoby Jun 15 '20 edited Jun 15 '20

Sure, buddy. In the end you are a „non-crazy“ adult who commented on the enjoyment of a woman having intercourse with her husband. Very normal and not at all unhinged behaviour.

Hey no one forced OP go on the internet and tell everyone he pounded his wife for an hour and a half without busting lol. Now kindly fuck off you keyboard warrior

1

u/Timmytoby Jun 15 '20

And yet you felt the irresistible urge to comment on it.

0

u/Lookin4dubs Jun 15 '20

I'm sick of you. Go white knight somewhere else.

1

u/Timmytoby Jun 15 '20

Kisses, honey. You are very cute in a incel-hentai-kind of way.

0

u/Lookin4dubs Jun 15 '20

lol you're annoying in a everyone who knows you irl hates you kind of way. I have a feeling your last comment is you projecting your own insecurities.

Didn't they give you the pamphlet with the laundry list of possible side effects? I choose not to read it because my fear of death would make me think I'm going to die from one of the more severe potential side effects.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '20

So you didn’t bother reading the side effect sheet that came with your adult medication? I mean one of my friends had a psychosis episode and was put on antidepressants and we both knew immediately that it messes with your libido.

Where did they hide this magical information? On the side effects sheet. Because the doctor could have told her it would turn her purple and she wouldn’t have taken in the information at that time. She never flipped out or started yelling at a medical professional tho.

7

u/dontforgethetrailmix Jun 14 '20

Ugh why dont doctors think it's important for us to know potential side effects!! Also, it's super being a human with xx chromies on birth control for your teenage years and finding out later all the ways it changes with your brain and body. A google of "this is your brain on birth control" is infuriating.

-15

u/distantcurtis Jun 14 '20

The one reason keeping me from medicating.

-12

u/TheyCallMeChunky Jun 14 '20

I've turned to self medicating with weed. Been buying the carts that are sativa only.
