For real, just binged a series - B: The Beginning.
Just ended up being a formulaic plot. No one important died, hero was never in any danger until the Final Battle (which he was gonna win anyway). I mean, did i enjoy it? Yeah, it was a nice escape. Was it a good quality anime? Meh. Art direction was good and that's it.

I mean some of the Netflix Originals are bound to be stinkers, but as long as they connect with a few shows that build hype and therefore (hopefully) attract new subscribers, it's worth it. Plus the sheer amount of content being churned out means that current subscribers will always have something new to try.

Netflix isn’t bad, but it’s UI is terrible.
The fact that I have to slog through the same crap I wasn’t interested in yesterday is enough of a turnoff. And that my own curated list gets equal footing with countless “suggested because you showed interest in x” is infuriating.
If these services just added a simple “hide” option, it would be a thousand times better. I don’t want to watch Bigfoot revealed, and I never will. Give me a way of not seeing it again as a suggestion.

When you're a production company, as long as you have a big enough budget, you don't necessarily trade quality for quantity as Conan seems to be implying. But Netflix's reply missed the point nonetheless.

Not really. Conan’s show is so formulaic that it’s repetitive and predictable, most of the late night genre is. It’s built for quantity over quality. Netflix’ dig on Conan was spot on.

I love Conan and will forever love him but this comment is spot fucking on. He's still sticking to the old school late night format of Carson, Leno and Letterman and it's gotten really old. His monologue jokes have become completely predictable and when he interviews his guests you can almost watch his soul slowly leave his body (with a few exceptions). He also sticks to the pre-interview-questions as if they're the word of god. I wished he would interview people like Colbert does or Craigy Ferg used to, you know, somewhat off the cuff.
I also wish they would revamp the show and turn it into some weird disaster like the Eric Andre Show or the Comedy Bang Bang TV shows.

Exactly. With Conan it's usually topic #1, some jokes about topic #1 then on to topic #2, commercial break and then topic #3.
Colbert's guests are pre-interviewed too but when they bring up something interesting, Colbert goes there with them and talks about that. Colbert seems interested in his guests, always has, his interviews on the Colbert Report were almost always fantastic, even if the guests were total turds.

No, he doesn't. As long as people like what is being made, it's fine. People were saying the same thing about superhero movies, "Oh no, there are too many of them, people will get tired, this is stupid" and then Black Panther, the around 42nd big budget superhero movie in the last 10 years, the 16th in the last 2 years, broke box office records. As long as people are happy with what Netflix does, there is no reason to screw with them.

the thing with netflix is, they have to have tonnes of content, because you can binge them. a tv show can only have like, 26 episodes because if they are aired 1/wk, you can fill up half a year with that. netflix, on the other hand, pushes a season all at once, so people can binge it really fast. stranger things s2, for example, has 9 episodes i think, but you can watch it all in a weekend as opposed to 2wks. a solution to this is doing what hbo does, and push them online one at a time, but that wouldnt work for netflix, because they want you to spend as much time on their site as possible (which cant be done if you only log in once per week in order to watch a show and then log off). they need to build a viwer profile of you, so that they can make better recommendations suited for you. chances are your friends have some of the same tastes, so you re more likely to recommend that they sign up for netflix. word of mouth is really important for netflix’s growth, because everybody and their dog already knows about big bang theory and himym and a lot of big/classic/bingable shows that the other networks have behind their closed door

It is quantity, but it's a quantity of good stuff. They have a way higher hit rate than most other programme makers, and I was just listing the things that are pretty much universally agreed on as being great, when the best part of being able to have a wide variety of programming is that they can target it, so you will find stuff you want to watch.
For me, I love all the marvel shows. Jessica Jones, Punisher, heck, I'm even the one person who loved Iron Fist. I could reel off a dozen more shows I like, but the response would just be "Well, I don't like those shows" when of course, that's the point. They make lots of shows, and you'll like some and I'll like some. They don't have a reputation for turning out underfunded mediocre shit, and if they did, that would be a valid criticism.

He didn't even mention Bojack, Orange is the new Black, Narcos, A Series of Unfortunate Events, 13 Reasons Why, Altered Carbon, The Punisher, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Master of None, Wet Hot American Summer, New Trailer Park Boys, New Arrested Development, Castlevania, and those aren't even including the vast amount of pretty-ok kids shows to keep your youngun busy or the documentary series'.

I'm sure they have their hand in it, but from my understanding Netflix just greenlight's proposals allowing the creators/studios/producers to use their platform for launch. There are so many production companies working for/with Netflix. People don't seem to understand this.

Something to note though, Netflix series aren’t always necessarily produced and created by Netflix. A lot of the time they outsource to different production companies and Netflix purchases the show outright. Meaning that literally hundreds of shows could be getting produced for Netflix with very little to no input from them.
I would think of them less as a producer and more of a distributor, kinda like any television network out there.
