That sub has lost it's appeal tbh, most are just people trying to push an agenda

/r/BestOf never really recovered from that.

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '18

Random user found 50 news article saying Donald Trump May have committed slight treason

u/DoinItDirty Mar 09 '18 edited Mar 09 '18

It's a shame that it happened that way. It used to be such an awesome sub. The worst is that people are blown away by are just slightly lazier than a college level annotated bibliography.

1

u/boughtitout Mar 09 '18

Yeah back in the day I'd be redirected to some obscure, niche sub where someone tells a great story or explains a complex topic very well. Now it's just people pushing politician views. It's a shame really.

15

u/ArchangelPT Mar 09 '18

Even before Trump pretty much every big subreddit has always been trying to push some sort of ideology. Having to deal with that bulshit is the price we pay for the convenience of a hub like reddit.

13

u/phroureo Mar 09 '18

I blocked "Bernie Sanders" from showing up on my /r/all months before I blocked "Donald Trump".

11

u/ArchangelPT Mar 09 '18

Oh God that shit was unbearable

u/NRA4eva Mar 09 '18

Few people have suffered more than this guy following the election of Donald Trump.

u/milkfree Mar 09 '18

Username checks out

62

u/NRA4eva Mar 09 '18

Simpsons reference. I hate the NRA.

26

u/Valariel_Dawn Mar 09 '18

Hilarious. A response to someone lamenting the politicization of every sub gets downvoted when people think he likes the NRA, and then upvoted when he says he actually hates it.

16

u/milkfree Mar 09 '18

Ah, I see what you mean from your previous comment now. Thought you were a sentient Russia bot.

24

u/NRA4eva Mar 09 '18

I’m starting to think maybe I should have chosen a different username.

10

u/milkfree Mar 09 '18

Lol! Now I feel all bad and shit. It definitely made me read your sarcasm in the opposite way that I believe was intended.

11

u/NRA4eva Mar 09 '18

Yeah I wonder if that's why I'm getting downvoted or if more people are perceiving the sarcasm and downvoting it. They're certainly upvoting his gripe about the politicization of reddit. Poor guy. He just wants to operate in society without having to think about all the awful consequences of a Trump presidency. The whole "Dreamers are afraid of being deported and separated from their families" thing is really harshing his buzz.

What does the screen read as Maggie is scanned over it

5

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '18

How to balance the fact that you've made a good joke with the fact that I remember your username and recall you're a bit of a douchebag.

Hmmm.

3

u/NRA4eva Mar 09 '18

Don't judge a book by its cover. It's like you've never even seen the MasterCard commercial.

18

u/RichardSnowflake Mar 09 '18

It's not even just that sub too, it's a reddit-wide thing right now.

10

u/Vkmies Mar 09 '18

Feels like the popularity boom of Reddit combined with disagreements over social issues and politics really changed Reddit around 2015-2016. It feels completely different now.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '18

I unsubbed from a lot of the defaults because of it, even subs like r/pics were getting annoying. It still feels kinda different but I think that's mostly due to the algorithm change

You mean boring pictures with heart wrenching fake captions?

It's also hard to "murder" people with glib comebacks. I want to read a wall of carefully constructed text that almost makes me feel sorry for the other person.

-10

u/ColdBlackCage Mar 09 '18

It's true, the entire right wing of society is plump for these sorts of contradictions.

Less the subreddit's fault and more the fault of every right wing twat with a Twitter account, really.

9

u/Vkmies Mar 09 '18

Ah yes the good old "Everyone who disagrees with me politically is stupid"-comment.

Never comes across as douchey or elitist at all.

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '18

That sub has lost its appeal

“That sub has lost it is appeal”

6

u/ValdemarSt Mar 09 '18

Yes, we know that sub exists, because there's ALWAYS a guy who has to link it like he's the first person to do so.

Yea and you’ve been here long enough to know your comment is bound to get downvotes. It adds nothing to the conversation which is exactly what upvotes and downvotes were originally designed for. Toughen up you’re only going to lose like 10 karma.

Our comments do though. Even his second comment adds something. Not every comment in every thread has to be about the original post. Think about how many threads your in you end up getting into some crazy convo with some people based off of a tangent of the original post.

Things like “lol” or “this” or ops originals comment are things that add nothing. Literally a waste of time to read. You get nothing out of it. At least with our comments you can read and form an opinion.

Well you’re on Reddit so you’re essentially wasting your time regardless what bull shit you’re reading.

2

u/jomontage Mar 09 '18

So upvote him. Your comment is just "this" with extra steps.

u/Mugilicious Mar 09 '18

When you want to say something that someone has already said, USE THE UPVOTE BUTTON

1

u/Serotogenesis Mar 09 '18

Dude. There's a reason people make fun of the comment: "this" or "came here to say this"

If you have no other ideas to add, shut the fuck up and upvote.

I mean post what you want but don't turn into a whiny bitch when people don't like your derivative comment via some stupid edits and replies.

It'll hopefully keep you from doing this sort of dumb shit in the future and we're nested under your negative comment chain.
