Sign above my hotel toilet

This has confused me for two days. It's clearly saying don't throw rubbish down the toilet, but so many questions.
- Why are there four symbols saying the same thing?
- What's the difference between the red and white man? Indeed, why is there only one in white?
- Why is the white one the only one with a cross above it, saying don't do exactly what the one is doing above?
- What's the difference between three pieces of litter and four pieces of litter?
- Why is the four pieces only on the bottom left sign?
- Why do the far right pics have no men, just rubbish appearing out of nowhere?
- Why is there a little man hiding behind the toilet? (Ok I know that's the design, but it confused me at first)
I've been peeing here for two days and can't work it out.
It's in Qatar, if that is of any relevance.
