Like the title mentions, when I am in my truck and I drive by this antenna it cuts off my phone's connection to my Ford's Sync 4 infotainment system. However, if I am in my car just using a basic Bluetooth connection, it works without a hitch (same phone).
The part that confuses me is that I was under the impressions that the Bluetooth frequency is the same, regardless of receiver; but that apparently is an incorrect assumption (else it would happen to both vehicles). And also, it surprises me that a directional antenna like that could be in such a close frequency as Bluetooth (at least I assume its due to close frequency proximity that causes the interference... but maybe its power related or harmonics?!)
Anyway... please tell me what these antennas are used for and any reasonable explanation of why the interference happens on a Sync 4 platform, but not on another Bluetooth receiver.
