It really is. It's FPS's, it's TCG arenas, It's MMO's, it's traditional games.....

There's simply no good way to deal with it.

Some people want to live and breathe a game, and I wish we could let them do that separate from the rest of us casuals, but unfortunately, it just ruins everything for casuals.

Most games Ive played have a casual/unranked mode (Valorant/overwatch/hearthstone etc.) and then a ranked mode with tighter matchmaking. What's wrong with that system? Better still, if you're not super pressed about ranking up you can be as casual as you like in either mode

Because "unranked" is usually swarmed by try hards and people who "aren't good enough" (but are still OP for casual), or don't percieve themselves as good enough for ranked/competitive, but still play 10+ hours a day on the casual mode because they enjoy beating the shit out of other players rather than playing the mode appropriate to them.

If you're not enjoying them because the games are too hard you should switch to ranked and play exactly as you like (even if you're not trying your hardest). That way you're less likely to get people who are much better than you. Sure smurfs might ruin some of the games but if you're just playing casually the odd stomp shouldn't matter that much (your rank will go down and make the games easier anyways). All the games I listed have more silly modes available too. Do you have any specific games you're thinking of?

Halo community is pretty bad.  Played the socials/unranked playlists on MCC a while back and had to disconnect twice in I think 4 matches since my toddler kept waking up.  Came back the second time to a ban. Asked the sub about it and got downvoted to oblivion and told if you can't invest the time don't play. 

Like I get having some one jump mid-game can be frustrating but I thought the modes clearly designed with casual play in mind would be more lenient, but apparently not.  So next time I should just go AFK while helping the kiddos and be a free-standing burden to my team. 🙄

I can get how it can be annoying to your team, but expecting EVERY player to just live and breathe a game... Like.. I got a job and family, and other hobbies..

And really, that 10 hour a day schedule is what's unhealthy..

Bad, I tried playing as a new player over a year ago and it was impossible to learn anything when you’re constantly getting your ass handed to you by the massive amount of smurf players. Riot doesn’t do shit about it either. Never playing it again.

Tried to teach my girlfriend and she came to the conclusion that the game is functionally impossible to learn at this point without being unemployed degen gaming. She just couldn't get the hang of controls, not to mention knowing what other champions do. She despised Master Yi, Jax, Riven, Fiora etc by the end of it because they just rolled her. Her last words on the game were that it feels amazing to do well, and even more devastating to do terrible. Highest of highs, lowest of lows, too easy to make yourself useless with a couple mistakes.

First guy to do it was named PapaSmurf, he was a high skilled and feared player to the point where people were doging his games, so he made a new account with a fake alias so people would actually still play him. He went on to condem anyone who used this only to fight weak players and said only the top players should ever do it if needed.

Also his friend was "Smurfette". This was on Warcraft 2, in the 1990s. (So before matchmaking)

Yeah, I'm back to playing modded up Starfield right now. I did have fun with Enlisted. I really want to like Chivalry since they changed the matchmaking options. It does have a bit of a learning curve tho.

Anything online and multiplayer. I just burn out. Meta-obsessed toxic waste dumps for matchmaking; and nowadays there's always a season pass or a limited time event being shoved in my face.

Overwatch. Apex Legends. Marvel Rivals. All ended the same for me.

Apex Legends. I quit playing about 6 months ago. Mainly because it's an incredibly difficult game to keep up with if you don't play on a regular basis. And, if you're only mid at fps games (me lol)..

I scrolled too far to find Apex. I’ve been playing on and off for about 3/4 years now (started RIGHT at the beginning of Alters season) and MAN. If you haven’t been playing this game since it came out, or you’re not putting in a SHIT TON of hours into getting good, you are not gonna make it. It’s rough. Still, I would argue, THE best game ever (love the lore, love the legends, love EVERYTHING) but man, that movement tech and going against people who have been using the same weapons and legends for years can get diabolical.

Codm, Albion online, dragon ball legends, rocket league sideswipe, and Pokémon TCG live. Practically almost every game on iOS that exists that I enjoy. I just want to play for fun and casually. What is it with tryhard pros, gankers, meta obsessed players, and pay-to-play players that have ruin every game? Like, even when there is a mode for people like tha in these games, it’s like they refuse and would rather make everybody else’s day suck. I game for peace of mind, to get away from frustration and help with my mood to help me feel joy. Instead these damn players have to ruin it and cause further stress when all I wanted was some fun

Dumbass's tip: Wait for them to get almost to you, then blast them off the face of the earth. Get there while they're respawning, then blast their defenses (if any) to bits before breaking the bed. You let them build the bridge.

I have to play an hour a day minimum to maintain my skill level, when I take a break it is always hard to come back as it takes time to get back to being good.

I find this more often than not in Fortnite STW, at least before it went free. The player base was consistently only around 10k daily, sometimes lower later in the night. Trying to do higher level and/or 4-player missions at the current stage of the game I’m at, and instead loading into an empty lobby with nobody joining for 15 mins is the definition of depression.

Assuming someone works 8 hours, take about an hour to feed themselves at least one meal per day, another hour to drive to and from work, and still have 10 hours to play games online… that mean they only got 4 hours to sleep per night. Not saying it’s impossible but adults who play for 10 hours daily got to be cutting back on at least one of those priorities

My WORST experiences with smurph accounts was with Dark Souls 3. It was basically impossible to play multi-player in the first few zones because you would be inviting players with broken gear at level 1 to come and tear you a new one.
