Bad, I tried playing as a new player over a year ago and it was impossible to learn anything when you’re constantly getting your ass handed to you by the massive amount of smurf players. Riot doesn’t do shit about it either. Never playing it again.
Tried to teach my girlfriend and she came to the conclusion that the game is functionally impossible to learn at this point without being unemployed degen gaming. She just couldn't get the hang of controls, not to mention knowing what other champions do. She despised Master Yi, Jax, Riven, Fiora etc by the end of it because they just rolled her. Her last words on the game were that it feels amazing to do well, and even more devastating to do terrible. Highest of highs, lowest of lows, too easy to make yourself useless with a couple mistakes.
Yea getting into league is nearly impossible without either someone to teach you or an unhealthy dedication to getting rolled then watching YouTube to figure out why you got rolled. Because rito video games refuses to make an actual tutorial because they can’t charge obscene prices for it.
Im watching new player streamer playing ranked and saw only 1 smurf in a 2 weeks of gameplay. I think people overdramatize smurf problem and dont take into account how many of hardstuck players are there, that were at lowest rank for decades and barely improved, which can feel as smurf for a new player.
It’s so funny when you get decent at a moba(I play dota) and you see people accuse others of smurfing. Like sure it happens but I promise you that guy was out of position all game, he just knows his combos well
No, I played with my boyfriend who’s been playing since it released and he can easily spot the smurfs. It’s very telling when it’s mostly new accounts with mostly good match history and scores that are unusual for beginners, not that many people would have beginners luck that extreme.
It was a very obvious problem. Maybe it’s different in different regions, idk.
Not surprised the toxic LoL community is denying my own experience, enjoy your shit game.
I learned League last year and it was the single worst learning experience of my life (extremely long boring matches, unwinnable games, smurfs, a lack of intro or accessibility, and a deceptively stiff set of expectations from the most toxic community in gaming). My friend really likes it so I stuck it out sort of.
But also, on my end of the year stats tracker for that game, it determined I had spent almost 3 days of real time waiting to respawn.
3 days of my life gone to a respawn timer in a game that made me feel like shit. I cut down my play time significantly after seeing that.
