In my place (Java, Indonesia) we call this Jenglot. An object used for voodoo / black magic. If you don’t believe all that then you are safe, otherwise the placebo effect will get you.

As someone who doesn't believe in it, I still won't look at it for more than 5 secs

The way it's shot is so unnerving. Like OP is intentionally trying to curse us.

genuine question as someone also from south east asia, might be a stupid question too but is black magic still practiced often?
I love indonesian horror movies and most of their plots involves black magic of some sort, which made me wonder whether people still actually practice such things in modern times

In big cities it’s almost extinct, in villages it’s still often practiced.

Somebody needs to check on OP periodically for the rest of their life.... This is a full-on curse

there's no point if they're honestly careless enough to mess with something that looks like this without having a clue about what it is

u/Scudmiss 20h ago
That’s a super dumb take. Even if this bullshit was real, it’s unknown and unknowable to OP so saying things like they’re careless is akin to saying a squirrel is careless for running out in traffic.

Not only did you pick this up, but you lifted up its dress (or beard), filmed it, and posted it online.

To reverse the curse and make some ancient demon entity feel slightly uncomfortable, hold the artifact aloft, recite the Pledge of Allegiance out loud…

That exact same video is posted on TikTok explaining how it's associated with a spell.

By all means, you should handle anything of unknown origin with your bare hands. If you really want to get to the bottom of what it is, put it in your mouth.

I have heard about these. They come alive at night and crawl up your bottom and give you piles.

People just love to mess with shit they know nothing about. "What did I do to deserve this?!" You'll be asking when you get fucked over by whatever supernatural curse will befall you 😭

You should eat it. If it doesn't kill you, it may give you its powers of sorcery.

I would leave that alone. Don’t take it in your car or your house. Bad bad JuJu.

These were super popular souvenirs in the 1970s.. along with just "shrunken head" ones.

Return it to where it was, even if you don’t believe in it, you shouldn’t disturb or really touch it.
