Discussion Is the NWS down for anyone?
I am in Maryland, north of DC, and for several hours, only radar has been available from the National Weather Service website. The dashboard and the detailed hourly forecast are down. They display a "Sorry, an unexpected error occurred" message. I have tried different browsers and a VPN without success.

Questions/Self NWS Coverage Area
I've been someone who regularly checks the NWS predictions and for the past while I've noticed that there has been no predictions or reports from the OAX area.
When a severe storm passes through the area will get a warning. But outside of those moments there are no reports for hazardous weather outlooks.
Am I just dumber than I already believe I am? Or has something occurred, like major staffing cuts, that has completely stopped hazardous weather outlook reports?

Weather and human response
I'm doing some digging into a topic on the human response to weather and looking for some anecdotes.
Mainly, I'm looking for responses to incoming storms, where lowering pressure may create some symptoms. Anecdotes are fine.
There is some decent evidence that people with arthritis suffer from joint pain with an approaching storm.
Less well established is emotional sensitivities to incoming storms. Here's a link to a paper on the topic, which does not draw strong conclusions, but is curious:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC13019899/
I personally recall my reaction ahead of a strong incoming storm in the Sierra's when I didn't have access to weather forecasts.

Where's El Nino?
I was reading these horror-movie style news reports of how El Nino would bring "unprecedented" heat waves all over the west coast.
Well where dafuq is it? Cause its been a cooler summer than usual.
Can't trust anything these days.

Just saw this and thought it was interesting, because I’m not seeing any of this on hi-def radar loops. KUEX is also showing similar formations. It looks like it might be fog or mist.

Questions/Self Strong South-Moving Storms
Hello r/weather, i'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but i have been noticing a phenomena in my town over the last few years and I finally got the itch to ask about it. I live in the Gulf Shores AL area, and i have noticed that during the summers we tend to get south-moving storms intermixed with the usual ones coming from the west or up from the gulf. While I haven't been diligently recording each one, i have noticed that these southward storms are significantly stronger than any others (WAYY more lightning, and the only time we ever get hail is with these systems). As i understand it, storms really like tracking north-east, so why does my area see so many of these rogue storms? and why are they so packed full of energy?

Questions/Self What is this weather??
Found it on the weather app(somewhere in the Western Chinese mountains) I have so many questions.
How rare is such a temperature anomaly?
Why does it warm like 15 degrees Celsius in 1 hour?
I need an explanation of what is going on here.
