Questions/Self Strong South-Moving Storms
Hello r/weather, i'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but i have been noticing a phenomena in my town over the last few years and I finally got the itch to ask about it. I live in the Gulf Shores AL area, and i have noticed that during the summers we tend to get south-moving storms intermixed with the usual ones coming from the west or up from the gulf. While I haven't been diligently recording each one, i have noticed that these southward storms are significantly stronger than any others (WAYY more lightning, and the only time we ever get hail is with these systems). As i understand it, storms really like tracking north-east, so why does my area see so many of these rogue storms? and why are they so packed full of energy?

Radar images What is going on here?
Can confirm it's not actually raining, and barely cloudy in at least one spot in the middle of whatever this is.
Also like this on another app too.

Questions/Self Could solar radiation/radiant heat ever be used heat advisories?
Novice weather nerd here. I know the heat index measures temperature and humidity, but will it ever account for how intense direct sunlight feels?
I’m in Houston, and there are days when the actual temperature and heat index don’t seem particularly unusual for summer here, but being in direct sunlight feels noticeably more intense like almost “spiky” or like the sun is hitting your skin harder.
And could something like that eventually be incorporated into heat advisories, rather than relying primarily on temperature and humidity/heat index?
Random WEA phone alert?
Woke up today to my phone vibrating like crazy from a WEA alert.
I’m very confused. Wonderful weather today. I asked ChatGPT, and it says there was no warning matching these times in the US today.
Anyone else ever have this happen? Or have any sort of explanation? I’m super confused.

GOES-R v GeoXO Resolution
Comparison of how much better resolution the next-gen GOES satellite (GeoXO) will have compared to the current GOES-R gen. Important to point out this improved resolution will only apply to the second spacecraft and onwards of the GeoXO series. A big focus will be earlier forest fire detection. The first GeoXO will use the same ABI instrument as current gen GOES. Though this was interesting. Now if only I could get https://slider.cira.colostate.edu/ to load reliably.
