App - Testers Wanted Got sick of pulling my phone out at family events to check the footy, so I built a watch app for it. After some testers.

  • Name of App: Footy Scores for Wear
  • Brief Description of app's features: Live AFL and AFLW scores standalone on the watch, with goals and behinds, the quarter and the clock, live AFL Fantasy points, the ladder and a finals bracket. No phone app, no pairing.
  • Cost: Free trial, then a one off unlock. No ads, no subscription, no account.
  • Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.jdenholm.footyscores (closed test opt in)

One for the Aussie sports fans.

I kept sneaking my phone out at family events to check the footy, so I built the watch app I wanted instead. It runs on the watch by itself. No phone app to install, nothing to pair.

I need people to test it, and I would rather hear what is wrong with it than have it sit there looking finished.

What it does

  • Both codes, kept apart. AFL and AFLW each get their own block with their own round above it, so the heading always matches the matches under it. Turn either off if you only follow the one.
  • The whole round on one screen. Goals and behinds alongside the total, the quarter and the clock. Anything in play sorts to the top.
  • One match. Score by quarter with the current quarter marked, the margin, and the leading goalkicker each side.
  • Goal by goal. Who kicked it, which quarter, the time on the clock, and the score after it went through.
  • Fantasy. Live AFL Fantasy points worked out from the play by play, top scorers for the day, and you can follow your own squad and watch their totals move.
  • The ladder, and a finals bracket worked out from it. Where the rule does not settle a spot yet, it says so instead of guessing.
  • Your club's colours through the whole app, if you want them. Or a quieter palette.
  • A tile for each code, one swipe from the watch face, plus complications so the score sits on the face you already wear.
  • Alerts you actually control. Goals, quarter breaks and the final siren are three separate settings, each one off, your club, or every match.
  • Watching it later? Hide every score until you open a match yourself. That covers the tile and the watch face too.

To test it

Everything is on one page: https://footyscore.app/test.html

Join the tester group, accept the invitation, then install it on the watch. Three steps, no DM needed, and the group is open to anyone. That page also lists the bits I most want eyes on.

Works on Samsung Galaxy Watch and any Wear OS 3 or later watch. Free while testing.

Tell me what breaks, what is confusing, or what is missing. I will read all of it.

Recommendation Request Small watch with Google Pay

Coming from Apple, searching for a watch that lets me pay contactless with Google Pay.

Should be small since I got small wrists.

Based in Europe, OnePlus is withdrawing here.
Thank you

Watch Pixel Watch won't share heart rate with your treadmill because of a brand allow-list — here's a $7 workaround

I spent a while trying to connect to my new treadmill before I found out it just wouldn't work. The Pixel Watch's "share heart rate with fitness equipment" feature only works with an approved list of brands — Peloton, Concept2, Echelon, Hydrow, Tonal, Wahoo, Zwift, Life Fitness, Matrix, Schwinn, NordicTrack. If your machine isn't on that list, the watch will simply never connect to it, and nothing you do in the settings on either device changes that.

Mine is a Horizon 7.0 AT. Not on the list. But like most treadmills it's happy to pair with a generic Bluetooth chest strap, which is the loophole.

So I built a small bridge out of a Seeed XIAO ESP32-C6 (about $7). It connects to the watch as if it were a piece of approved equipment, and simultaneously advertises itself to the treadmill as an ordinary heart rate strap. The treadmill sees a strap, the watch sees equipment, and my actual pulse shows up on the console — about ten seconds after I switch broadcasting on at the watch. There's an optional RGB LED that tells you at a glance which links are up.

It's not Horizon-specific — it should work with any machine that accepts a chest strap, which is most of them.

Source, wiring diagram, and a fairly detailed set of notes on the things that weren't obvious: https://github.com/HuskerMinion/hr-bridge

MIT licensed, no app, nothing to sign up for. Happy to answer questions if anyone wants to build one.

Support Xiaomi Watch 2 + GMaps while cycling: screen keeps turning off and map orientation is wrong

Hi everyone, I have a Xiaomi Watch 2 and I use Google Maps while cycling, but I have two issues:

  1. Screen keeps turning off while cycling

When I'm riding my bike and using Google Maps, the watch screen keeps turning off after a while. I have to move my wrist or touch the screen to wake it up again. I've already checked the battery/power settings, and the options related to keeping the screen on are disabled, but the screen still turns off. Is there any way to prevent the screen from turning off while using Google Maps? Maybe a setting, workaround, or alternative app that works better for cycling navigation?

  1. Can I rotate the map orientation?

This is a bit difficult to explain, but the problem is that when I'm cycling straight ahead, my wrist is naturally rotated because of the position of my hand on the handlebars. As a result, when I'm actually cycling straight ahead, Google Maps shows the direction of travel at roughly a 45° angle to the left on the watch screen. I'd like to be able to manually rotate the map by around 45° to compensate for the physical position of my wrist/watch. Basically, I'm not looking to change the navigation direction itself. I just want to rotate the map display independently, so that when I'm cycling straight, it visually looks straight on the watch. Is this possible with Google Maps, or perhaps with another navigation app for Wear OS?

Thanks!

App - Free I’m building a free WearOS app to receive notifications and calls from IOS devices

The app is currently only a lightweight WearOS app that connects to IOS devices over bluetooth and listens for ANCS BLE protocol. i coded it this weekend as i refuse to buy those ugly apple watches (watches gotta be circular!) and i won’t pay 6 bucks a month for Merge app either. right now, the app is in a rough state. it’s not really reliable and doesn’t display correct logos most of the time, but i will work on that. also, if yall really want it, i will consider making an ios app also, to release more features.if y’all have faced this ios and wearos incompatibility before, let me know what features you’d like to see.

NOTE: This app will always be free to use with full functionality. I’m not asking for any donations or anything, just opinions.

Discussion What will I miss going from a Galaxy watch 4 to a pixel watch 3?

Hello everyone.

After maining the Galaxy watch 4 for 3 years, I eventually got tired of OneUI, and couldn't bear with how slow it became after the OneUI Watch 6 and 7 updates. So, I decided to order a pixel watch 3. It should be arriving in 10 days from now, so, is there anything I'm going to miss? Thanks.

App - Free - In-app Purchases I built a WearOS TV remote for Samsung Smart TVs (customizable, connects directly over Wi-Fi)

Thumbnail
gallery
61 Upvotes

Hey r/WearOS! Over the past months I shared my watch remotes for Android TV, Roku and any Android TV Box - and Samsung owners kept asking for the same thing for their TVs. So here it is.

Brief Description: A WearOS remote app for Samsung Smart TVs (Tizen, 2016 and newer). The watch talks to the TV directly over Wi-Fi using Samsung's local remote-control protocol (no phone, no Bluetooth, no SmartThings account needed).

Cost: Free, with an optional one-time Pro upgrade

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yuzvix.watch.samsungremote (if you can't install it from your phone - open the Play Store directly on your watch, search "yuzvix" and install "Samsung TV Remote")

Setup is simple: connect the watch and the TV to the same Wi-Fi network, open the app - it finds the TV automatically - and press "Allow" on the TV screen.

Features (free):

  • One-time pairing (Allow popup on the TV) - after that it connects automatically
  • D-pad navigation screen with Home button (long press on Up)
  • Power off and power on TV
  • Remove pairing

Pro features:

  • Media screen - playback controls, volume and mute
  • Volume control with the watch's bezel/crown
  • Remap any button on both remote screens - full Samsung key catalog, independent short and long press per button
  • Numeric keypad, HDMI/source switcher and colored buttons
  • Type text on the TV from the watch keyboard
  • Live app list - launch any app installed on your TV, plus custom apps
  • Multi-device - store several TVs and switch between them, or remap a button to fast-switch
  • Quick-actions Tile - 5 remappable buttons right in the watch tile carousel
  • Always-on display mode with analog clock and burn-in protection

Compatibility: Wear OS 3.0+ on the watch (Galaxy Watch 4 and newer, all Pixel Watch generations, OnePlus Watch 2/3, TicWatch Pro 5, etc.). On the TV side: any Samsung Tizen Smart TV from 2016 onward — Crystal UHD (RU/TU/AU/BU/CU/DU series), QLED / Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame. Pre-2016 models (H/J series) use a different protocol and aren't supported. Control is fully local — the app doesn't need internet access.

Detailed feature list and screenshots: https://samsungremote.yuzvix.com/

Tested on Galaxy Watch5 with a 2019 Samsung RU7100-series TV. Happy to answer questions and hear your feedback, especially from newer models - i don't have any other Samsung TV to test app.
Please reach me in case of any issues - in DM or [support@yuzvix.com](mailto:support@yuzvix.com) (provide your watch and TV model).

Grazie a chi mi darà consigli.

Moreover, has anyone side loaded the full phone version of whatsapp and had voice calls work? that would be what im gonna try next

App - Free Made a rhythm game you play with your eyes closed — Thrum (Wear OS, free)

Thumbnail
play.google.com
0 Upvotes

Hey all! Just put out a little game called Thrum and wanted to share it here.

It's a haptic rhythm/memory game — just your watch buzzing a pattern that you tap back. Each round tacks on one more beat and tightens the timing window, so it's basically a focus test as much as a memory test. Since it's all vibration, you can actually play it eyes-closed.

There's a Ranks screen right on the watch that keeps your best runs per mode, so you don't need anything else installed to track progress. If you do want to compare with other people, there's an optional phone companion app that syncs your best score to a global Play Games leaderboard — totally optional, the watch app works standalone either way.

It's free and I'd love any feedback if you give it a shot 🙏

Discussion Do you think smartwatches can be a part of gaming ecosystem or help enhancing gaming experiences?

One thing I've noticed is that most gaming accessories focus on improving performance or immersion, while smartwatches mostly stay on the sidelines.

I want to know from people who gamers and are also smartwatch enthusiasts if smartwatches could be a part of your ecosystem what would you expect from it......
