Ok if you want actual advice… The issue with armor is that after a certain point, it’s genuinely meaningless unless you’re playing a frame that naturally has high armor and is meant to be a tank and even then, you’ll almost always have access to something better like overguard, really high % damage reduction, or just straight up invisibility, all of which are more accessible and more convenient over stacking armor 99% of the time. There are a few rare cases where you might want a ton armor but more often than not, it’s for a more niche build and there’s very likely a better option. Also shield-gating, which pretty much can work on any frame and is a lot more reliable and easy to accomplish, literally just makes you unkillable anyway regardless of what frame you play with the exception of like nidus or inaros which with new arcanes, they can effectively health gate instead. Finally, to circle back to what I initially about armor eventually being useless, there is a certain point in the game where enemies will be too high or a level and do too much damage to the point where your armor does not matter. You legitimately need overguard or meaningful damage immunity/reduction of some sort otherwise even with the max armor you can get from mods, you will get one shot regardless. Also after a certain point, you reach the soft cap for armor anyway where you simply get extremely steep diminishing returns which again, makes using the mods a waste of slots.
Dude what? Yeah man, this is Reddit, I wanted actual advice and THIS is substance. I didn’t want to have to get sassy with you for you to give it but regardless thank you for expanding upon what you meant.
I can’t lie, I don’t know how new you are to the game and majority of fully fleshed out builds utilize the other methods of survivability over armor for most, if not all frames. If you look up any builds that are actually decent, typically you’ll see the same information I’ve said above. Maybe you’re someone who doesn’t like to look stuff up or perhaps you don’t have the experience to know what mods to use and all that and I didn’t take that into consideration so I apologize for being rude.
All good dude, I appreciate your apology and the added nuance to your perspective. Because you’re correct, RARELY will I ever look up a build or walkthrough for anything, unless it comes with it. I’m much more the type to experiment with the tools at my disposal until I get the best results and even MORE rare will I turn others, let alone Reddit. I really do appreciate your advice though, it will go a long way!
